Welcome to the Victoria Ascendant, latest in the Ascendant line of luxury yachts as built by the Nadir company. Tonight, the Victoria Ascendant is the stage set for a spectacular party, also paid for by the company and specifically designed and organised by a team of event specialists overseen by your host for this evening, Timaeus Nadir- wealthy eligible bachelor, melodramatic heir apparent to the company chair, frequent sponsor of the Games. The Victoria Ascendant is fully equipped with every obscenely luxurious item imaginable, and practically drips opulence.

When first welcomed aboard you will be assured that your every need will be seen to, your every desire catered for. Staff are on hand to answer any questions you might have or guide you to various areas of the ship, provide you with food, drink, or suggestions of how best to take advantage of the Victoria Ascendant's many amenities- they are here as hosts, but also as salespeople for those of the guests with money to burn- this party is serving more than one purpose. Tributes who responded to their invite will also receive a delicate, hand-written note in a golden envelope as they board- the content of which will be posted as a reply to their response to this post.(I'll do this once your character turns up.)

Although the Victoria Ascendant has a magnificent dining room for formal, sit-down occasions, the food for the party will be circulating the various lounge areas and decks. There is also a buffet table, for those of you who prefer to help yourselves, and a fully stocked bar. Provided are a baffling variety of foods and beverages, seemingly unconnected- but each tribute will find that if at any point during their stay in the Capitol they have requested a particular food or drink item, it is available here. Or, at least, the closest approximation the catering staff could conjure up. Seating is provided in intimate groupings around tables for the most part, though there are large, sprawling couches against the walls. Central to the dining area is a magnificent aquarium filled with brightly coloured fish. Anyone looking closely enough will recognise them- varieties of piranha- but don't worry, they've been more than adequately fed and the glass is thick.

While there are various screens displaying the Games throughout the ship, Viewing is also taking place on an enormous screen, set up in a seperate lounge area with full floor-to-ceiling windows all along one side. Here, staff wait to take bets or help organise the giving of sponsor gifts. Large, comfortable couches line the room, and the central table overflows with a spectacular arrangement of edible flowers and fruit.

Later in the evening, you will be told that the firework display is about to begin, and invited to go up onto the main deck to watch. The fireworks themselves will be launched from smaller boats across the lake, and the display is set to be truly spectacular. It will be set to some music that Tributes may find familiar- various melodies pulled from the most recent Arena. The large swimming pool on the deck is open, but it is too early in the year to be comfortable to use. Instead, it is being used as an unusual centrepiece for the evening. Floating in the illuminated water is a gigantic iceberg, sculpted into a stylised model of the current arena and populated with frozen figures. Eagle-eyed Tributes may be able to spot themselves depicted in ice- more often than not, the moment of their deaths are the pose of choice, if a little tweaked for the sake of a more dramatic scene.

Prim didn't mean to stare at Harley. The woman just seemed so boisterous... like none of this got to her. Prim wondered if she was just pretending, and if it maybe got to her worse than anyone...

...Or if she was just insane. Neither possibility sounded particularly good to the thirteen year old girl. Not for Harley, and not for anyone else.

She wondered if she shouldn't come closer and seek out answers for herself....

By the time Prim moved within Harley's sight the bubbly blond was singing a little ditty to no one in particular.

"Sometimes I'm right, Sometimes I'm wrong,
But he doesn't care, he'll string alooooong.
He LOVES me soooo that funny honey of Miiiiiine.
Sometimes I'm down.
Sometimes I'm up!
But he comes sniffing round like some rabid pup.
He LOVES me so. That funny honey of miiiiiine."

...she may have had a bit much to drink from the swaying in her dance.

...She's heard weirder. She's sung weirder. She's never heard of this one before, though. That makes her step a little closer, into the woman's field of dancing.

"What are you singing?"

"Huh?" Harley turned to face the question and looked surprised it was coming from someone so small.

"Oh, it's Funny Honey! It's great it's from one of my favorite musicals "Chicago!" Do you guys have musicals here?"

"I don't think so," she touched her chin, trying to consider it. "I haven't been here long, though. So maybe..."

"OH! Are you a tribute then?" Her smile wavered for a moment. She was starting to get fed up with how many kids were getting thrown into the death match.

Prim was quick to shake her head in reassurance - even though she didn't realize how much it might bug Harley. It seemed normal to her, but she didn't want any comfort for herself.

"I'm from the Districts. I'm Katniss's sister."

Harley blinked once or twice and then the name seemed to catch on. "Wait...wait wait, that girl everyone's talking about who loves that Pita bread guy?" Harley had kept her ears open, and a love story like that was right up her alley.

"Peeta," she corrected, flushing a little. "She didn't want him to die." She's fairly certain Katniss has been lying. She's also fairly certain she has a reason to keep it up. People would be upset if they found out Katniss had been less than entirely honest in her motivations.

Harley burst out giggling.

"Well sure she didn't! To hear everyone tell it they're madly in love! Seems like not dieing is a pretty low bar to set for a relationship."

She nodded, deciding not to risk contradicting the public's perception.

"I think they're very happy, now," she offered.

"Awww that's so sweet!" She cooed and gave Prim a pat on the head.

"But what's your deal then? Are you following in big sisters footprints? Gonna be a tribute too?" She seemed a little young for Harley's taste. Even Harley had her limits of decency.

She shook her head. "I just want to help people..." The tributes. There had to be something that would make her feel a little less guilty about all this.

"Aw, you're a sweetie." Harley declared petting the girls head. "How are you planning on doing that though?"

"I don't know yet," she admitted. It was something that had been worrying her - and part of the reason she had come to this place. She knew there had to be something, but no matter what she couldn't seem to figure out what was best.

Harley could hardly cope with how sweet and helpless this little one was.

"Well let's start out easy, what are you good at?"

"Healing," she said. "I don't think they'll let me do that, though..." She chewed her lip, wishing.

"Ah but what if you started teaching tributes how to heal? Like they do in the training center?" Harley offered a surprisingly reasonable idea.

"Do you think they'd let me?" She doesn't look convinced. It's not that she doesn't want to - only that she can't quite believe it...

Harley shrugged, "You won't know until you try. After all you've got connections. One of their most important VIPs. You should work it!"

"Maybe if Katniss wants it," she said, glancing at the ground as she thought on it.

"She's the one who's important to them."

Harley couldn't help but smirk mischievously cupping Prim's chin with a fingertip and tilting her head up to meet the clown girls eyes.

"It's good you want to keep your sister happy. But sometimes you gotta do stuff for yourself. If you really want this? Then you can't let anyone get in your way. Not her. Not the Capitol. Not even yourself."

"But I don't know if they'd let me without Katniss," she pointed out, eyes widening dramatically. she didn't think the capitol would appreciate it if she went around them. She didn't think they'd let her do anything without Katniss.

She did think they'd slaughter her in front of Katniss to make a point. Though maybe they wouldn't want a too-depressed Katniss.

"Well of course, they are the end all be all around here. But that doesn't mean you have to tell them all the truths. Bending them to keep Katniss and the Capitol happy AND get what you want? Where's the harm in that?" She offered rocking back and fourth on her heels. She had her hands tucked behind her back and looked for all intents and purposes more childlike then the child she was speaking to.

"Wouldn't they know if I lied, though?" They seemed to know everything. She was convinced of their power - and afraid of what would happen if she tried to trick them.

Not that she wouldn't maybe try it... She bit the inside of her cheek, chewing as she thought on what had been said.
