OTA

WHO| Wyatt and Anyone! (And everyone, the more the merrier!)
WHAT| Returning the land of the living.
WHEN| Sometime after his death in the arena. Let's say two days after just to give ourselves some wiggle room.
WHERE| Wherever you'd like him to be!
WARNING/NOTES| Happy Wyatt Earp Day, everyone! No. Really. It's actually a thing. And, it is a thing I could not let pass without some sort of commemoration. X) (Also, Wyatt is supposed to go down protecting Momoko from a snake, it hasn't been written yet, but if you find you have to mention it, feel free to use that.)

One woulda thought that dying the second time 'round would have been easier than the first. Who woulda guessed it'd be so much worse?

Sure, they'd put him patched him all up again, not a hair out of place, but Wyatt could still feel it. Could still feel the stab of the snake's fangs in his leg, the burn of its poison in his veins...

He felt haunted. Haunted by his own bones.

Dragging himself from his room, he limped into the elevator and leaned tiredly against the wall. Where he was going, he didn't know, and didn't really care neither.

He was still leaning, eyes closed, when the doors finally opened again.

"The last time was about thirteen years ago," he replied. "Or did ya mean the year? That was 1998."

"Damn..." Eliot had gathered that there was some kind of oddity with the times they'd been pulled from. And it wasn't entirely surprising since this place was supposed to be his country's future. But he hadn't actually expected to meet anyone from this far back. What the hell was the Capitol thinking, pulling someone from that far into the past?

"Yeah, I can think of some others myself," Eliot quipped. " The more creative ones are more fun."

"Well..." Eliot paused, trying to think of the best way to describe the twenty-first century to someone who came from over a hundred years before. "Our gadgets aren't quite as fancy as the Capitol's, but we have the beginnings of most of them. We can't artificially control the environment, though. Still have the same type of government but I'm pretty sure most, if not all, our politicians are con artists. Easily bought if you have the money. The bad guys are still bad and they still look for the loopholes in the law no matter how many laws you put in place to stop them. The innocents are still clueless until it's too late. The government tries to tell the rest of the world what to do on a regular basis. And most people seem to think the government is there to solve all their problems."

"So I guess the biggest difference is the technology, then," Eliot observed with a grin. "I respect you lawmen. Ya got a hard job, keepin' up with who's done what and stoppin' ' em before they can do it again. Without breakin' the law yourself."

"Officially, I'm a retrieval specialist," he said cautiously. It wouldn't make sense to draw lines over being on the opposite sides of the law here but he'd known people who would rather die than work with a criminal. "I mostly work with my team, catch the assholes who find ways to rob people legally. Or not so legally but use the law to keep the police from catching them. And I subcontract with the government sometimes in between."

Eliot couldn't help a good-natured smirk. "I guess you could say that. Although that hundred or so years makes a hell of a difference in ways and means."
