WHO| Valeria and Effie
WHAT| Effie is feeling down. Valeria has just the solution to that.
WHEN| Just after the interviews.
WHERE| A small but rowdy bar in the Capitol.
WARNING/NOTES| Aside from the drinking, none yet.

Valeria didn't actually know of that many bars in the Capitol. Most of her drinking took place at parties, which in turn took place more elaborate rooms and tended to bring the bars along. She did, however, know of a few and this one in particular she felt was the perfect place to wind down from the frenzy of the interviews.

It was also the perfect place, from her favorite spot at the bar itself, to listen to the conversation around her. Obviously, the topic on everyone's mind was the interviews, the highlights of which were playing on nearly every public screen in the city, and Valeria loved to hear the comments, especially those that pertained to her own Tributes and their, of course, amazing styling.

Shifting in her seat, she found something in her drink to study very thoroughly, trying to find a way out of this conversation. How had she even found her way into this conversation.

"It's been awhile since Haymitch was a heart throb. Most nights he is either passed out or so drunk he might as well be. It is not really that appealing."

And hopefully that would be that.

"Hm." Valeria tilted her head in thoughtful acquisence. "Alright, so there's nothing there between you and Haymitch, so you say...ooh, what about Peeta? I mean, I know he's absurdly spoken for, of course, but this time I'm just talking...well, have you looked at him? That jawline..." Age, in Valeria's experience, was just a number -- she had her limits, but thankfully Peeta was just above them.

Her mouth dropped open, and the look of abject horror on her face-

-well it showed maybe the last reaction wasn't as sincere as Effie had hoped it was.

"Peeta is...well, he's a child! And he and Katniss are getting married! Married!"

Valeria raised her eyebrows once more, once again amused. "If he was a child he wouldn't be getting married," she pointed out, then drained her glass and gestured for both her and Effie to get refills. "But come, come, dear, you must have someone to keep cozy with--" a favorite euphemism of Valeria's, it was just so adorable, " -- must have had a fling or two with some coworker. I mean, we spend so much time around them it's only natural, right?"

"Well, he is getting married to a child."

Effie was happy for them, it was true, but they were so young. Then again, in the district she knew getting married young was just a part of life.

"I just don't really mix business and pleasure like that." She said, taking a sip off her new drink. At least she'd gotten over her talking about Haymitch.

"Well, put like that it just sounds creepy," Valeria admitted. She wasn't exactly the commitment type anyway, though she didn't judge others on their lifestyle choices.

"But darling, if you don't find pleasure in your business then what's the point?" she protested. She'd certainly given Eliot a more in-depth examination than necessary. You took your perks where you could.

She shrugged. "I'm happy for them, but I do worry they are rushing in early."

Especially if the baby rumors were true. But she wasn't going to let Val know she had no idea about that.

"It's just...a potential for a huge mess. I can find plenty of entertainment elsewhere."

That wasn't an ornery drunk. With no manners.

She grinned. "Nothing wrong with a little rush now and then, I think."

Valeria leaned forward suddenly, thinking that now she was finally going to get something interesting. "Oh? And what is your entertainment of choice, while we're on the subject?"

"Yes, well at least they do truly seem to be in love." She sighed, a little wistfully. It was romantic, and she was so thankful for their happy ending.

"What exactly do you mean?" She sniffed, unsure what Valeria was trying to root for. Again. She had a feeling this was about to loop back on her.

"Ah, love," Valeria, waving a hand dismissively. All well and good, but hardly interesting.

"Oh come now, you can't tell me you've forgotten what we were talking about so soon. We both have what you might call stressful jobs -- what's your de-stressing method? Girl to girl, of course." Valeria smiled, taking a sip of her drink. "I'm partial to blonds myself."

Effie sighed wistfully, nodding. She envied them. A fairy tale romance like that, with, maybe, little ones on the way?

But with this job...she shock her head. "Really, I haven't even had time lately...but when I do I like...well, I'm not fond of men who are too soft. Or ladies who are too hard."

"That is a dreadful shame," Valeria declared, waving for more drinks. "Not having time, I mean, not your tastes. They're a little boring, of course, but to each their own." She shrugged and turned away to converse with the bartender, turning back with a bottle and two glasses. "Time, time is always the problem, isn't it? What we need to do, what you need to do, is make time."

She poured some of a rather stronger drink into each glass, sliding one over to Effie. A conversation this depressing needed something stronger. And there were few things more depressing than a lack of sex life.

Effie bristled at the boring comment while Valeria order them more drinks. Se of course knew Valeria wasn't the only one to think that way, she had had more than her fair share of friends who had. But it didn't make her feel much better about being judge for it right now.

So she was more than happy to take the drink when offered. "What about you, then?"

"Hmm..." Valeria tapped a finger on her lips, rather theatrically. It was actually a difficult question, since generally she was more interested in the experience than the other person. Still, that didn't mean she had no preferences whatsoever. "Well, blonds, as I said. Not necessarily naturally so. And, ah, not skinny but...lithe? If that's the word? Swimmer's build, although I'm not at all opposed to some meat on the bone either." She giggled, a little more tipsy than she usually allowed herself to be in bar situations.

She considered their conversation, then added, "And outside of the bed, there's nothing quite like an explosion or two to blow off some steam. In the safe, controlled environment of my workshop, of course."

It took the 'outside of bed' a moment to sink in, and Effie's face showed it as she tried to piece together where explosions worked into her companions sex life.

"Oh, my well that does sound exciting. Do things explode a lot?"

"Only when I want them too," said Valeria, watching Effie with amusement only increased by the chemicals in her system. "You should try it sometime. A little wanton destruction can relieve stress like nothing else." She nudged Effie, giggling.

She shrugged, before nodding.

"I can see...how that might end up enjoyable."

Maybe she would need to look into it.

"You can come by my workshop," offered Valeria automatically, before remembering that she was, technically, speaking with the enemy. "Ah, so long as you call first, so I can make sure you're not stealing any of my secrets."

Effie tried not to let her smile be too smug. Like Cinna needed any help.

"I'd love to dear."
