District 10
Remy stared at the room, then the peacekeeper, then the communicator he was handed, then the elevator the peacekeeper disappeared into.

He wanted to make a fuss, but the Cajun was still trying to figure out if this was some sort of horrible prank or if this was real on some level. Maybe this was some crazy telepath's idea of torture? If so, it would make more sense to add his friends here instead of total strangers.

Well, weirder things have happened... Didn't that guy mention something about dying?

Remy turned back to the room... "Bonjour?" Someone's having a serious delayed reaction.

Common Area
This wasn't a dream. It wasn't a telepath. He was about 85% sure this was all actually real. He had really been pulled into another dimension to fight people to the death. That was a real thing...

Remy just sat down pretty heavy on one of the sofas, rubbing his face. Might as well do so here. Everywhere else was full of people, too. He really needed a drink.

Chris noticed the new guy right off the bat, walking over with two glasses of whiskey he set one down in front of the guy.

"Either you're new or really lost."

"I'd like to think the second," Remy muttered in his hands. He looked up to find this man and a glass of something he hopes is alcohol in front of him.

Without two thoughts, he gulped it down. Not much else to lose.

"Both works too. I'm Chris." He chuckled sipping his drink as he set the bottle between them. "Where'd they put you?"

He nodded, thinking on which name he should give and just settled on: "Gambit." That name would work for now until he figured out what he was dealing with.

For a second, he didn't understand Chris' question, until it finally hit him that they must all be in different suites. "District 10."

[big_badass_hero]

"I'm down in 8, and my mentor's probably going to threaten me with glitter again if she sees me drinking." He grinned, he wasn't really scared of Calico. "Been here for a little bit, you get the whole speech on why you're here?"

He took a drink from his glass. Beat going into the training room. He knew how to fight and survive, last thing he wanted to do was watch the kids flail at it. He really hated having to try to kill them, but figured he should probably start next Games.

"A little glitter ain't gonna get between me and liquor, non. Is that what the mentors are like?" Remy had yet to meet the mentors of District 10 and he honestly didn't know what to expect. Hardened murderers or lucky kids?

"Oh, yeah," Gambit answered, "an' I'm just so full of honor to be here that it's comin' out a my ears."

"Not sure what yours are like. One of mine's a punk kid, the other's a sweetheart when she wants to be. They all went through the arena, seriously it's fucked up really. They have kids in here, some can't be much older than twelve if even that." He leaned back in his seat. "They like you more if you kill in the arena that's for sure."

He shook his head. "Could be worse, trust me they'll probably be watching you like a hawk now." He lifted his hand to show the band. "Apparently they don't like it if you insult them. Almost all of district twelve has em, three in mine. Pretty much the people they see as a threat just because we don't play exactly to their rules. Haven't hurt anyone out here yet. Not my kinda thing."

So there's some resistance after all. That was very good to know, but it wouldn't help him to get one of those brands. Of course, he wasn't a big fan of killing either.

He latched on to a subject that seemed more interesting and safer at the same time. "Kids?" Now that really wasn't right. "Why? Adults are one thing, but bringing kids into it?"

Chris wasn't a fan of killing either. He had one assist to his name, and that was trying to help.

"Yeah," He wasn't happy about it. "Most the time in the arena I spend making sure they're okay really," Being in law enforcement before this had some draw-backs.

Gambit could definitely understand that game plan. "I'm guessin' it don't help you out too much, though?"

This place was just getting more and more messed up.

"Not at all they like you more ruthless here. Kinda goes against everything I stood for in the air force and as STARS."

He noted the look Gambit gave. "Though in the city they do treat us like celebrities. No real way to hide either."

Well, that's peachy. This was place was going to tricky and Remy was already regretting some possible outcomes.

"Air force. You from the States? Earth?"

[big_badass_hero]

"Raccoon City," He nodded. "Though only thing my town's probably known for is being Umbrella's HQ, and zombies." He sat back a little. "The accent screams New York state via Louisiana? Had a friend back home that was from the South, we spent almost all our down time in the French Quarter in New Orleans."

[rat_des_marais]

"... Ain't heard o' no zombies, thankfully."

Very thankfully. He's chalking that up as a good thing... and he smiles, too. "The French Quarter? That's my neck of the woods, mon ami. Practically cut from the same cloth."

He's very happy to hear of home.

"You're lucky then."

Chris takes another sip. "Yeah, but you're native, probably seen a lot more than a couple of fly boys lookin' for trouble could get into." He smirked. "Wouldn't mind swapping stories sometime, over better booze though. Whiskey's good for somethings, but good conversations always start with a few beers and darts if you're interested."

He chuckles. "Always. They got some places like that around here?" Maybe it's not so bad.

... Yeah, no, it's still bad.

"There's a few places here that have decent micros. There's one place that's geared for one of the further districts that has a great cheese steak too."

[rat_des_marais]

"The other districts. About them." He went into a thoughtful frown again. "I don't suppose we get to take field trips, non?"

[big_badass_hero]

"I wish, only thing I've seen that wasn't this city has been the arenas I've been in. One I swear was Disney World. Couldn't be Land, too much swamp."

[rat_des_marais]

... "Disney? You mean with like that talkin' duck and everythin'?... Disney?"

That had to be traumatic.

"That would be the one. Only the duck had razor sharp teeth, and the mouse... Let's not go there with that one." Yes there's a visible shudder.

... "The more I here 'bout this place, homme, the more I don't wanna be here."

"I don't think any of us want to be here really. Well there are a few exceptions. But for the most part yeah."

[rat_des_marais]

"Hate ta run into one o' them exceptions in that arena. There a lot of 'em?"

[big_badass_hero]

"Not too many. Though they'll keep you on your toes." He took another drink. "Most of them are cool with keepin' it like Vegas. What goes on in there stays in there. There's a set of twins here that I go drinkin' with sometimes. One hacked off my head in the second arena I was in."
