Having come in from her morning run through the city Sandy had showered, changed clothes from workout to casual and was sitting at the restaurant with an over sized stack of red velvet pancakes with cream cheese icing and whipped cream with some kind of glittering gemlike sprinkles. A half drank glass of milk sat next to a plate of sausages, one of them with a fork sticking out of it and a bite missing.

She had taken a few bites out of it but was deeply invested in using a pencil to try and map out her next painting. On a paper in front of her was some kind of gooey dripping monster.

It had been awhile since she dreamed about the monsters that had fallen from the sky. About the last horrible thing she'd done before waking up here. Maybe someone in that church had gotten away.

But she wasn't hopeful enough to lie to herself about it.

Having had a nightmare about them (Despite Effie's special sleep tea and Pruna's anti-nightmare head poke) Sandy decided the best way to get it out of her head was to put it in paint.

And so here we found her, wasting another day when she could, should be preparing for the next arena.

Sandy shrugged wishing she had a clue. Instead she pointed at Grue's meal "What...is that stuff supposed to be?"

... I don't think it has a name." He picked up a forkful of it, nose wrinkling. "I need a specific diet. This is... what they give me instead. What are your powers?" he asked quickly, a little too quickly for the topic change to not be an obvious one.

Pruna wrinkled her nose, "I bet it do be tasting yukky." She said, she had already offered to get him some proper food, and now she wondered if they made him eat such disgusting looking things she should just go kill someone, so he could have something tasty.

After all the food was the only decent thing about the Capitol.

"My...oh my powers." Sandy was surprised by the question, in part because it had been so long since she used them she'd almost forgotten about her inherent powers.

"My whole body turns to stone. My dad would turn to sand so...I get it from him." She explained a little sheepishly.

"Oh..." Some's eyes went wide, and he stared, slow to catch himself. "That is... amazing. Just... Oh." At least he kept from reaching out to touch her, though it was a near thing.

"I wish I could see that."

"I have no been seeing it either!" Pruna told him, "Maybe in the next arena everyone will be having their powers and then you can be showing us Sandy!"

Sandy's face took on a pinker hue as she realized they were both genuinely interested in her power. With a shy smile she relented. "Heh...well...yeah if I get the chance sure. I mean...it's not that strong. It sure didn't save my life in the first arena when that girl ripped my head off..."

Some winced, and reached a long arm around behind Pruna to pat Sandy's shoulder.

"Which arena was your first?"

Pruna frowned, she didn't like the idea of anyone ripping Sandy's head off. She wondered if they were still here, maybe she could get Sandy to tell her. Then they would regret it.

Sandy stiffened at the sensation of yet another stranger touching her. She'd been forced to get used to it in the last few months, but it was still always a surprise to her.

"The North Pole." She explained and then realized that neither of them probably knew what that meant.

"Snow, ice everywhere. Some birds that I had to try and catch so I could eat them. Big pits. I fell into one and this girl turned into a big muscular dude before she killed me."

He nodded, lifting his hand quickly at her reaction, with an apologetic tilt of his head. The gesture was entirely human. "That was my second... My first was an island mostly underwater. The birds were trying to eat me, there."

Pruna wrinkled her nose, she couldn't imagine a place with snow and ice everywhere. "That do be sounding stupid." Birds trying to eat him. Pruna was glad she hadn't been there either.

Sandy looked startled by the suggestion, "Geeze, an underwater arena? How did you guys not drown in like...a week?" Because while she knew how to dog paddle but she wasn't that good a swimmer.

"It was mostly shallows." He indicated a height around his lower chest. "But it was horribly bright, and hot and humid."

Pruna wrinkled her nose, she couldn't swim at all, and didn't like the idea of having to be in water that long. "Well they better no be doing that again, it do be sounding really stupid."

"They probably wouldn't do it again, not for awhile anyway. They don't wanna copy themselves. Then it gets boring." Sandy rolled her eyes using what logic she had from growing up with Television as her baby sitter.

"That's right. It'll only keep going so long as it's entertaining... I wonder when we get boring."

"Maybe that do be being why some people do no be coming back alive. They did be being too boring." She wrinkled her nose, it made sense, all they cared about was entertainment.

"So I wonder how much longer being girlfriends has bought us." Sandy mused bluntly. "That's gotta be interesting doesn't it? I mean as far as I can tell other then those big muscular guys and that french girl there's not alot of romance right now."

He looked between the two, his fluffy eyebrows quirking upwards in a very human gesture.

"I am sorry, I thought you both children."

She shook her head, "I do be being eleven and Sandy do be being... twelve I do be thinking." Looking at Sandy for confirmation because that was a wild guess.
