love will make you drink and gamble
Who| Dan and OPEN
What| Dan goes to a bar a little distance from Tribute Tower in the hopes of not running into anyone who will know who he is. Let's see if we can dash those hopes.
Where| A bar in the Capitol
When| Final week of the Arena, during Dan's off-duty hours.
Warnings/Notes| Alcohol
Daniel had gotten into the habit of spending as many of his hours off duty in the basement of his family home. He'd taken up residence in the lab with a single projector playing the Games in the corner. He needed to stay up on what was happening with the Tributes, after all. He needed to know which ones might have a grudge against which other ones and who might be looking to get revenge for some wrong doing inside of the Arena once they were outside of it.
He imagined those kinds of concerns were strange new ones in this strange new, multi-dimensonal world.
The problem with spending all of his time alone though, was that he had to remember the pieces of his personality he didn't care much for. Self-doubt took up residence at the back of his mind like an unwelcome house guest. Rather than dwell on it, though, he finally worked up the nerve to leave.
Blake drank all of the time without worrying about what it did to his professional image and while he was no Blake, he could try to relax every once and a while. Still, he choose a bar that was far enough from Tribute Tower that he could reduce the risk of running into a Tribute.
It wouldn't be very professional for one of them to see him drunk, after all.

"All right," Dan replied with a small smile. "Let's go."

"I'm Daniel Dreiberg," Dan introduced himself easily, not really wanting to bring his Peacekeeper title into this while he was out of uniform. He lead the way out of the bar and towards some public transportation. He hadn't brought his car because he was expecting to get drunk. "I've seen you around the Tower but it's a pleasure to finally speak with you."
no subject
"Yeah I think I've seen you too."
no subject
"Usually in uniform though," Dan said with a small smile. "I expect that means you try to avoid me otherwise?" He didn't really know if Ian had any reason to avoid the Peacekeepers, but he had come to realize that most of the Tributes had no reason to trust him, and probably shouldn't even if they did.

"Shit you're a cop." Peacekeeper, whatever they were called in this place. His eyes narrowed in suspicion.
no subject
"Not exactly, but don't worry. I'm not going to detain you. I only want to make sure you get back safely."

Dan paused. "You're right. You've done nothing wrong, but people here will take advantage of your fame."
no subject
"So you're protecting me now?" He sounds incredulous, Ian doesn't have much faith in law enforcement.
no subject
"It's my duty to protect you. That's why I'm back in the Capitol."

"I was assigned to the Districts," Daniel explained. He ignored the part about not doing his job well.

Dan used the moment of silence to guide Ian into some public transportation that will take them back to Tribute Tower.

"You sure you're not taking me in?"
no subject
"I'm sure," Dan says with a smile. "You haven't broken any laws by getting lost." He doesn't really care about the underage drinking. Tributes should be allowed certain things, so long as they don't get rowdy or dangerous.
no subject
"If you were going to make getting lost a crime you should make the city easier to navigate." He said, relaxing a little even if he were still suspicious.
no subject
Dan chuckled a bit at that. "We really should," he said, adding in some humor to his tone. "At least easy to navigate while under the influence."

"Well, most people who go to the parties know where they're going. Or they're escorted by people who do. Did you happen to get abandoned by a friend?"
no subject
no subject
"Were they other Tributes?"
no subject
no subject
"Did they mention a particular party they went to?"
