A friendship that can end never really began
Who: Calico and Eva (Closed)
Where: A day or so after the execution at Eva's house
When: A day or so after the execution
What: Calico's been drinking and she just cannot hold in her anger at Eva any more. End of the friendship.
warnings: Alcohol, swearing... I don't think things will get physical. Will they?
It was... well, time was a little hazy for Calico right now. There were a million things she ought to be doing. She SHOULD be trying to find sponsors for her tributes. She SHOULD be making sure that Holiday was excluded. She SHOULD be trying to cover up her damn black eyes and trying too fix her broken nose. She should be watching her tributes in the arena.
Calico was, however, doing nothing of the sort. Since they had been allowed out, she had spent her time in her pub. She shouldn't do, really. She KNEW she was heading for trouble. But Calico didn't care.
Not any more. Not now that her BEST friend, the woman she had shared every secret, every relationship, every kiss and more with - Eva knew EVERYTHING about Calico, down to her brother's imprisonment and Calico's dislike for the Capitol - THIRTEEN years - and Eva had sold out Ariadne like that.
Calico downed mojito after mojito, woo-woo after woo-woo, wine after bottle of wine. Slozzled, she passed out on the sofa, only to wake, hours later and start drinking again. May as well live up to the addict image she was famous for.
But after a while, her drinking slowed and she started to eat a bit, slowly sobering enough to stand and walk in a vaguely straight line.
And then she decided to go and see Eva.
No. Not see. Yell at. Shout at. HOW DARE Eva do this to her? To Ariadne? To all of them who had considered her a friend. Eva was BANG out of order - going over to the Capitol side. After her jokes. After letting Calico confide in her and cry on her shoulder every anniversary of her brother's 'adoption'. Was it all a pretence? Had any of it been real? Had Eva simply been a mole for the Capitol, waiting to sell out the Victor with the highest value? Would Calico be next?
Her thoughts took her right up to Eva's front door. Bloody traitor.
Calico began to hammer.
"OPEN UP. RIGHT NOW. OR I'LL BREAK YOUR FUCKING DOOR DOWN."

Her thoughts took her right up to Eva's front door. Bloody traitor.
Calico began to hammer.
"OPEN UP. RIGHT NOW. OR I'LL BREAK YOUR FUCKING DOOR DOWN."

She sits in her living room, on a white couch, in her bathrobe. It's not the sort of face she'd present to the public. A book she hasn't really been reading lays open on her lap.
no subject
She hollers back, already searching for something to smash Eva's window in.
"YOU DAMN TRAITOR - ARE YOU TOO SCARED - TOO ASHAMED OF WHAT YOU'VE DONE? AND SO YOU BLOODY WELL SHOULD BE."
no subject
It kills her to do this, but she doesn't trust Calico not to run her mouth. That's why she didn't share the information about Ariadne in the first place. And she doesn't want to throw another one of confidants to the wolves.
So she doesn't open the door.

Cal waits all of two minutes before she hefts a conveniently located rock through Eva's sitting room window.
You BITCH! You signed her damn death warrant! Did you see what they did to her? Did you watch? Are you happy now? That bloody sadistic woman Injected the girl. Are you happy? You've killed her. You've traumatised the Tributes. And for what? How much are they paying you?"
She yells as she breaks off glass, flinging it in until she's made a big enough hole to squeeze in. Best thing about being drunk - cal can barely feel the cuts on her hands from this.
"You fucking bitch."
no subject
"Calico, I'm armed. You might want to stay still and stop vandalizing my property."
She sighs and pulls her hair back with one hand into a bun. "And do I look happy?"
no subject
Her eyes go wide at the gun and her mouth drops open.
"So you're gonna kill me now as well? Shoulda guessed that one, huh? And then it'll be Jack and Peeta - Katniss, righ'?"
She shakes her head. "Why d'you dob her in? Why d'you set her up like that? She was our DAMN friend. Don't you think we've seen enough die without you bloody ORCHESTRATIN' more?"
no subject
She winces as she walks closer.
"I was saving eighty-plus Tributes from being turned into meat for the muttations. I don't know what you were doing during this, other than running your mouth and getting drunk."
It hurts to do this, to so permanently sever ties with her friend - but it's the only way to protect Calico, foolish, mouthy, idealistic Calico.
no subject
She ignores the gun, glaring instead at her friend. "Don't you fucking dare. You wouldn't dare. You'd be arrested. 'T ain't a picnic in them jails, I'm tellin' you."
SShe shakes her head. Calico literally couldn't understand what had happened to Eva. HOW had she changed so much? How had she had Calico taken in for so long?
no subject
She gestures to Calico's head with the gun. "You get no choice when you're dead."
Ignore the smily icon
Her eyes move to Eva's gun now.
"Are you gonna shoot me then? Gonna kill your best mate? Except I never really were, was I? You fucking traitor - you damn spy of the Capitol. You know what, I've had enough. Screw it. Screw YOU. You won't be accepted back now, you know? EVERYONE hates you - except the Capitol idiots."
Re: Ignore the smily icon
Re: Ignore the smily icon
"DON' EVER COME NEAR ME AGAIN, YOU TRAITOR. I DON' WANT NUFFIN TO DO WITH SCUM LIKE YOU!"
And with that, she takes off, staggering slightly in her platform stilettos as she makes her way back to the nearest bar.
