The Crowning of Albert Wesker

Who| Everyone in the Capitol.
What| The Crowning Ceremony
Where| The Victor's Complex
When| Day of the Crowning
Warnings/Notes| None yet.

The theme of the ceremony is clearly black and red. A crimson carpet stretches out across the room. The long table for feasting seems to be made of a single slab of dark obsidian, something that couldn't possibly be found in this size naturally. The chairs are wrought iron with red cushions, and embers burn under personal barbecues at each seat. Red wine, red juice, slabs of red meat to be cooked (or eaten raw) - the details are all perfected. Even some of the Avoxes have received black tattoos for the occasion, the number '11' permanently marking under their eyes like grotesque twin tears.

For a crowning, the ceremony is rather intimate. Only a handful of guests have been invited: the usual Capitol VIPs, the Mentors of each District, and a few of the stars of the last few Games. Karis Needleteeth, Aunamee, Dr. Alastor Grey, Alpha, Lindsey McDonald and Hyperion Crius each have a seat at the table. A few Peacekeepers sit off to the side, sipping wine. A few of the Mentors are conspicuously missing.

And Wesker's throne sits at the head of the table; it's made of the head of the dragon that destroyed so much of Disneyland and slaughtered so many Tributes. The head has been dried, the tongue replaced with a plush velvet seat and back the color of blood. The eyes have been replaced with glass that stares at each side of the room. The fangs, however, remain intact.

Downstairs, the rest of the Tributes and their Escorts and Stylists can partake in a more Disney-themed affair. Everything is still sleek, and tends to veer more towards Maleficent and Jafar then Cinderella and Ariel, but the punch bowl is Mickey Mouse-shaped. There's a dance floor, and a string quartet, and all sorts of lavish foods on tables with red cloth. It's a night for mingling, at least.

[OOC Note: Part one of this is going up tonight in the first two subthreads. Part two will be edited into the last two subthreads tomorrow evening; you'll see why. Go forth and mingle! Tributes from downstairs can go say hello to the Victor, although they won't get long before the Peacekeepers escort them back down.]

"People get tired of each other, I'd imagine." He tilted his head in something akin to a shrug. "I cannot say from personal experience, but my friends with siblings do complain about them enough. I can't help but think they're exaggerating, however."

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-11 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe, or maybe their siblings do be being stupid." She wrinkled her nose. "They should just be getting rid of them if they do no be liking them."

At that, he outright laughs. Not at her, exactly, but at the childish logic of it all. Naturally, if you don't like something you should just do away with it. If only the world worked like that. "I'm not sure it's so simple, Pruna. Moreover, what is stupid to you and I probably isn't stupid to everyone."
knifewithnoname: (oh really?)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-11 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
She wrinkled her nose, it was easy. Not always but most of the time people could be gotten rid of easily, it was not hard to kill them.

"Well that's because most people do be being stupid too."
orestes: (oh why oh why)

[personal profile] orestes 2013-08-12 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, but stupidity is always in the eye of the beholder. And more than that, I prefer to think of men as uneducated as opposed to genuinely unintelligent." Perhaps it was his own optimism getting the better of him, but Enjolras genuinely meant that much at least. The short comings of humanity were, to him, largely due to misinformation or the straight up absence of it from vast sections of society. "Those of us who know better must be patient, my dear Mademoiselle, and work to elevate those less gifted."

She wrinkled her nose at that, "Yes lots of people do no be knowing things because they did never be being taught them."

She sighed, "But then people do be acting like they do be knowing everything when they do no be knowing nothing."

"Well, I know that the more I learn, the more I truly begin to understand how much I do not know." It's an old sentiment, but it's true enough. Perhaps what they were complaining about in society was truly more ignorance and less stupidity. "Can you read, Pruna? Do you remember what the world was like before you could?"
knifewithnoname: (smiles)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-13 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
"I can be!" She was proud of that fact, most people she knew couldn't read at all. "I did be learning when I did be really little though, so can no be remembering not being able to be reading."

At that, a brilliant smile worked its way across his face. In Enjolras' day, literacy among children was always something to be noted and encouraged. Literacy among anyone, actually, but particularly in girls, or someone barely older than Gavroche. "Well, it took me a very long time to read well, but I do remember feeling almost as though I knew more before I could read at all. When your world is smaller there is less to process, less to consider. Reading is something that opens the world up and shows you something else you have yet to master. It's self-defeating, in a way, but I think it's important to keep at it all the same. It's the people willing to admit defeat that become the problem."
knifewithnoname: (thinking)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-16 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
"You should never be admitting defeat." Pruna agreed, "But there do be being a lot to be learning, and now I did be learning there did be being other worlds and other planets and aliens and everything I did be learning do be being just like a one grain of sand in the whole desert."

"Would you like to know a secret, Pruna?" He asked, voice low, though still distinctly happier than it had been when their conversation began. "I never imagined there were other worlds or things like aliens either. America was about as foreign as I ever imagined I'd see."
knifewithnoname: (pondering)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-19 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded with a grin, she liked secrets! "Where do America be being?" She asked wrinkling her nose.

"If I'm not very much mistaken, we are in America now." Or at least, that was how it appeared from the limited history books and maps he'd been able to scrounge for in the Capitol. They weren't overly interested in the geography of their world, and, to be honest, neither was he, but Enjolras liked to think he could at least recognize the shapes of the continents when they were presented to him.

"It is far away from Paris, though, and so I thought I might never get the chance to see it for myself."
knifewithnoname: (fascinating)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-20 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I did be thinking we did be being in Panem." She wrinkled her nose. "Do this be being your world then?"
orestes: (Default)

[personal profile] orestes 2013-08-20 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think, perhaps." It probably was, but lingering on that thought was uncomfortable to him and there was no reason she needed to know his thoughts on being tossed forward centuries in time. "As I said, though, it's very far away from Paris. Very different, as well."
knifewithnoname: (pondering)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-20 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"It do be being very different from Gauig as well, and much more stupider."
orestes: (Default)

[personal profile] orestes 2013-08-22 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Agreed, Mademoiselle. Agreed." Which perhaps wasn't the most open-minded of judgments, but while he prided himself on acceptance of diversity, Enjolras was perfectly alright with rejecting tyranny in all of its many shapes and sizes.
knifewithnoname: (listening)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-22 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
"But we will be getting back, don't you be worrying." There weren't many Pruna would bother to save, but she thought this man might be one of them. he was one of the least stupid people she had met so far.
orestes: (Default)

[personal profile] orestes 2013-08-22 11:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I have no worries about that." He would do his best to protect her too, given the opportunity. He just hoped the Arenas wouldn't come to that.
knifewithnoname: (smiles)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-22 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
She just grinned at that. "I do be wishing you luck then, and I will be seeing you again I do be thinking."
orestes: (Default)

[personal profile] orestes 2013-08-24 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
"To you as well, Pruna. I hope we do have the chance to see each other again." Just, under the correct circumstances.
knifewithnoname: (smiles)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2013-08-24 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I do be hoping that too!" She grinned again before turning to go and find someone else interesting to talk to.
