The Crowning of Albert Wesker

Who| Everyone in the Capitol.
What| The Crowning Ceremony
Where| The Victor's Complex
When| Day of the Crowning
Warnings/Notes| None yet.

The theme of the ceremony is clearly black and red. A crimson carpet stretches out across the room. The long table for feasting seems to be made of a single slab of dark obsidian, something that couldn't possibly be found in this size naturally. The chairs are wrought iron with red cushions, and embers burn under personal barbecues at each seat. Red wine, red juice, slabs of red meat to be cooked (or eaten raw) - the details are all perfected. Even some of the Avoxes have received black tattoos for the occasion, the number '11' permanently marking under their eyes like grotesque twin tears.

For a crowning, the ceremony is rather intimate. Only a handful of guests have been invited: the usual Capitol VIPs, the Mentors of each District, and a few of the stars of the last few Games. Karis Needleteeth, Aunamee, Dr. Alastor Grey, Alpha, Lindsey McDonald and Hyperion Crius each have a seat at the table. A few Peacekeepers sit off to the side, sipping wine. A few of the Mentors are conspicuously missing.

And Wesker's throne sits at the head of the table; it's made of the head of the dragon that destroyed so much of Disneyland and slaughtered so many Tributes. The head has been dried, the tongue replaced with a plush velvet seat and back the color of blood. The eyes have been replaced with glass that stares at each side of the room. The fangs, however, remain intact.

Downstairs, the rest of the Tributes and their Escorts and Stylists can partake in a more Disney-themed affair. Everything is still sleek, and tends to veer more towards Maleficent and Jafar then Cinderella and Ariel, but the punch bowl is Mickey Mouse-shaped. There's a dance floor, and a string quartet, and all sorts of lavish foods on tables with red cloth. It's a night for mingling, at least.

[OOC Note: Part one of this is going up tonight in the first two subthreads. Part two will be edited into the last two subthreads tomorrow evening; you'll see why. Go forth and mingle! Tributes from downstairs can go say hello to the Victor, although they won't get long before the Peacekeepers escort them back down.]

"Parker." He gives her a stern look. "I need ya to stay outta trouble while you're in the city. Throw whatever ya want in the Arena but nothing lethal in the city."

There's a noise of pique. It's a frustrated, appalled squeak, complete with folded arms.

"He can kill me and I can't throw stuff at him?"

Yes, Eliot, did you know your twin all but disemboweled Parker?

This sums up to one obvious conclusion. "You like him better. Fine." Not fine. "Fine." Totally not fine.

"Fine, I'll leave." The words to express how totally not fine this is have yet to be invented, as Parker stalks away.

He blinks. And blinks again. "What?"

No, Parker, he doesn't know. He was probably in someone's bedroom at the time.

"No, I don't, Parker." He grabs her arm before she can get more than a couple steps away. "Parker!"
whosalicewhite: (punching)

Parker's not really caring if he was with the woman with whom he sleeps (so he would assume).

But there is one thing Eliot should know: it is never a good idea to grab Parker. The thief, quick on her feet, and having taken lessons from Eliot, doesn't even pause before aiming for his balls. She's said what she has to say to him.

He twists away from her kick. "Parker, what do ya mean, he killed ya?" Because this is the first he heard about it.
whosalicewhite: (not crazy enough)

"What do you think I mean?"

Even by her standards, she's sure she's been clear. "I said he killed me. You know --" she puts her hands around her neck, tilts her head and sticks her tongue out. The universal overdramatic sign of dead.

"He did that."

That hurts to hear. How had he not known? Even if he had been busy at the time, how had he not known? "I'm so sorry, Parker."

It feels like a betrayal. Sure, he knows Lindsey would do whatever he had to to try and get out. But he'd trusted him with the closest to family he's had since he left home.

"So sorry you don't let me throw stuff at him!"

Now would be an excellent time to compliment her restraint that's all she did.

"And you let him."

Yes, it's Eliot's fault.

"Sorry enough to protect you. Ya didn't see... Ya weren't here when... There was a Tribute who decided ta kill someone outta the Arena." He swallows, looking her in the eyes. "He's dead now, Parker. I know how ya feel about my brother. I don't want ta risk them thinkin' you're plannin' ta do the same thing."

"Pffft, beer bottles to the head don't kill anyone." Yes, they do, but not how Parker meant to throw them.

"Did he whine? Oh, Eliot, Parker's mad I killed her?" She sounds like she's sniveling. "That why I didn't see you in forever?"

"They can. And I don't want to risk them thinking that's what you're tryin' ta do."

He sighs and his eyes look haunted and tired. "No. I haven't seen him, either. I... I've been workin'."
whosalicewhite: (listening)

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

[personal profile] whosalicewhite 2013-06-30 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"It's obvious if I was trying to kill him 'cause he'd be dead." Can't get much clearer than that.

"And when you work, somebody dies, or walls break, or stuff goes BOOM, or dictators fall. None of those happened." Her eyes narrow, accusing. "You lying? Like when you said you had nurses. They weren't nurses. Hardison said so."

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-07-02 03:03 am (UTC)(link)

"You know that and I know that. But it's not obvious to everyone else."

He can't meet her eyes. The truth hurts too much. "No, I'm not lyin'. I just haven't been doin' that kinda work. And they were nurses. It was just their night off."

whosalicewhite: (not happy)

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

[personal profile] whosalicewhite 2013-07-04 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
"They watch people kill other people all the time. Are you telling me they still don't know the difference?" Really, these people here, can they get any dumber?

"They were all nurses?" Parker doesn't believe you, Eliot, and you can thank Hardison for that.
retrieverchef: confused (confused)

"I'm tellin' ya that what they see of the Arena is like a movie to them and, no, they can't."

He sighs. "Only the ones I told ya were nurses, Parker."

"Then they should be easy to take down. We've stolen a country before."

And Parker's still all squinty-eyed at him.

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-07-04 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Eliot sighs. "Not the ones that matter, Parker." It's a painful admission. Anywhere else, he could do it. Eventually. But not here. There are too many people who could be caught in the crossfire. "San Lorenzo had an election we could use. This place doesn't or, if they do, it's not when we need it. We'd need ta plan like we're takin' on a Steranko."
whosalicewhite: (Eliot whatever)

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

[personal profile] whosalicewhite 2013-07-05 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"But they spend all the time teaching us how to kill people. Don't they think that's a bad idea?"

And to defeat a Steranko, all you need is a Steranko, which means. "Need to find somebody on the inside.

"Not if we're too busy fightin' each other."

He nods. "And a hacker."

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

[personal profile] whosalicewhite 2013-07-06 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Do you see this face Eliot? This is a worried face. It's a sad face.

"A hacker. Is Hardison here? Hardison's not allowed to be here. He can't be here. He can't kill people in his head with lightsabers. He can't be here, Eliot."

Stop her, before she does something terribly wrong.
retrieverchef: (puppy-eyes)

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-07-06 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
He cups her face gently, meeting her eyes. "He's not here. I promise, Parker. Hardison ain't here. He's back home, safe, probably hackin' into the CIA."

He hugs her. "He's not here."
whosalicewhite: (hug)

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

[personal profile] whosalicewhite 2013-07-06 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Hacking into the CIA is safe."

4997 times out of 5000 she would likely stab someone. The 4998th, that person is Hardison. The 4999th, she's taking happy pills. The 5000th means she's about to have one of her rare freak outs, and holding onto something is better than the alternative.

"That's a lot safer."

[personal profile] retrieverchef 2013-07-07 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly," he whispers in her ear, hugging her. "He's safe right now. And he's with Nate and Sophie."
whosalicewhite: (Sophie)

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

[personal profile] whosalicewhite 2013-07-07 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Sophie's safe."

Nate, not always. It entirely depends on his mood and his sobriety. Still, Hardison's with Sophie.

There's a sniffle. Sorry, Eliot.
retrieverchef: (hugging Aimee)

Re: DOWNSTAIRS: Eliot

He wraps his arms around her. "Yeah, she's safe. It's gonna be all right, Parker."
