Atticus was really trying not to go all fanboy mode on Jim, but it wasn't easy. He was getting a drink with Captain Kirk. How was that not the coolest thing he'd ever done in his life? He did his best to hold it in, though he was bouncing on his toes a little when he met Jim in the lobby.
"There's this place not far from here," he said. "Pretty cheap, and they have something mostly like tequila."

"Bullshit." Jim can think of a number of things off hand that he bet could blow Atticus' mind. Just none that were accessible here. Not even Gaila could probably guess how much Jim thought about the necessary parts to make a warp core to get the fuck out of here with as many of them as whatever tin can he could cobble together could hold.
He'd need her though. And any other life form that had achieved space travel and any other human with the genius to help.

Because, yeah. He was basically positive that would be the most amazing thing ever. And he would love to help with that, but his talents do not lie in that field.
