1) 
Pepper's at least trying to get the hang of things, though really in training when it comes to hand to hand combat... She's ending up on the ground more often than the trainer.  

At least she's not giving up that's a good sign right?  Pointers may be needed.

2)
Despite getting her rear handed to her... Pepper's slipped out of the training center to clear her head for a little bit.  She's determined to find a place that makes something that could pass as a Coney dog in the Capitol.  So far... well okay they at least have sausage, and on rolls, it's not perfect but it works.  Though she's not sure she can eat the rainbow colored fries in front of her.  That's just.... Unnatural!  

Care to interrupt her lunch?

3) 
Evening and Pepper's up on the roof looking out over the city.  The tall skyscrapers remind her a little of home, even though they're so alien.  She sits on a bench, twisting the band on her wrist a little.  She's debating watching the network for a bit, but the silence around her's not that bad.  

Feel free to strike up a conversation.

"Weird place to make friends." Damian stated it like a fact, but considering that was coming from someone who generally didn't do much socializing unless he had to, well. It probably didn't mean too much. "But you must know what goes on around the city pretty well, then."

"Not really, my dad's FBI, and most of them don't mind as long as I don't act snobby."

She nodded. "Well New York, fairly well this place? Whole new ball game. I think I'm at least figuring out my way around. Friends with the locals... Little harder, but I'm getting there." She decided to risk one of the fries, choosing one of the yellow ones.

"Oh! It'd fried squash, not too bad either, want to try?"

YES I like them already. :')

He looked down at the fries, still feeling rather suspicious of them. He couldn't avoid eating forever, though, so he'd have to get used to eating the strange food sooner or later. Reluctantly, he took a seat across from her and reached for one of the fries (also opting for one of the more normal-looking ones). He took a bite, and... hmm.

"I guess it could be worse." It didn't seem like either of them were going to die, so hey, that was a plus. He finished eating it before he continued. "Have you been here long?"

YAY!

"Not really. About a week I think. Days have kind of blended together, all the training they're having us do and fittings, I swear my stylist must enjoy having someone new to play with, just glad she's had good taste so far." Pepper will draw the line at anything too foolish, at least she hopes she can.

"I think they're having more fun than we are." It didn't take long for him to see that outrageous costumes were kind of a thing here, and he couldn't imagine that many people actually liked them. Except for the stylists, of course. "They treat us like dolls."

"It could be worse, I don't mind being a doll for a while. As long as it's tasteful." She looked up a moment. "At least it's better than alternatives." She'd been kidnapped enough because of Tony to know that as long as the captors were treating you well, there was a chance to escape. She wasn't sure if it was true here, but she'd play along until she saw her chance.

"What, you've had worse?"

He'd figured she was just saying, really, but she might have a point. There are definitely worse things out there than being all dressed up by crazy people.

...but it still kinda sucked.

"Been threatened with death a few times, been knocked out and had to escape a gang war.. And well fought off ancient robots... Well okay Tony was able to stop them because I picked up the sword."

She went silent. "Well no one's gunning us down so..."

Someone should probably tell Damian it is not okay to find that stuff cool. But he totally does. (He's ten, okay, it's not his fault.) Anyone who could deal with things like that? They might not be so bad in his book.

"That sounds a lot more exciting than school," he said, as if there wasn't anything unusual about things like that. "But I suppose you're right. They've been rather generous so far."

He didn't entirely believe the generosity thing, but it was true, they'd been a lot nicer to them than they really had to be.

Hey comes with the friends she seems to make. Though okay, it's a little cool.

"Well, my school's full of the brightest in New York... Though really sometimes they can be such idiots. Myself included." She nodded. "Until then, figure I play by their rules maybe I can figure out some things about why we're here and how to get back." That bit was whispered just so he could hear it. Pepper wasn't a complete idiot, but she knew that as long as you played along, goons usually tended to treat you better than if you fought them at every turn. And she knew she wasn't much of a fighter.

He couldn't help but frown just a bit at what she said. She was probably right to handle things that way, but he kind of hated that she was. It meant that Tim was right and he was never really okay with him being right. Reluctantly, he nodded, showing he understood her little "plan" while he acknowledged her comment about her classmates not always being the brightest vocally instead.

"Everyone has their moments, I suppose." He shrugged. "Except for me."

Damian kind of hated the idea of playing along with things, but they were probably right. Ugh.

"Oh? So, you a wallflower back home? or just try not to make waves in public?" Hey she could be curious, not like she'd tell everyone. she's managed to keep Tony's secret after all.

"My father's a billionaire. It would be hard not to be noticed," he responded nonchalantly. It was almost a little weird to have to explain it, since back home, most people would recognize him, if not by face, then at least by name. "But I'd prefer to stay out of the spotlight."

...that part wasn't entirely true.

"Like Tony then. I swear if Rhodey and I didn't drag him out he would stay in isolation." She chewed her lip a little, Wasn't fully Tony's fault, after all his dad did disappear and he survived a plane crash, so of course paparazzi followed him faster than they would other New York rich kids. "It's not that hard to blend in if you want to... though here, I swear they watch all of us." She nodded her head to where some people were crowded.

He looked over when she nodded, and made a face.

"We're like celebrities," he said, though he didn't sound too thrilled about it. "Except it's kind of hard to blend in when we're the stars of the show."

If he knew anything about pop culture, he'd even go on to point out that they're like some twisted reality TV stars, because really, that's what all this was, wasn't it?

"Part of me likes that, I mean really... But the rest... Yeah, I think I know what Tony feels like when we drag him out. Total deer in headlights."

She took a sip of her drink. "I'll be more concerned when they start getting creepy. If I get fan mail asking for pictures, I won't step outside the tower again."

"Are you sure they're not asking because they don't already have them?"

It wasn't a particularly playful tone that he took on, so the fact that he was sort of joking likely wasn't too obvious. Still, though. He wouldn't be surprised if it actually was true.

She gave him a look. "That so isn't helping with the situation." Great now she's going to be creeped out about cameras in the shower. Though she had thought of it too.

"You should consider all the possibilities. Haven't your police friends told you that?" His words were smug, though to be fair, well... they usually were. With that, though, he stood up. "I should probably get going."

This would normally be the part where someone says, "It was nice talking to you." or "It was nice meeting you." but that was kind of a thing Damian wasn't that great at. Manners are still hard, okay.

She huffed a little though he was right.

"Yes it was. I'll see you around okay?"

"You, too."

He waved a hand and turned to walk away. Unfortunately, that was as polite as he could get, but compared to some of the other Tributes he'd met? Damian didn't mind this one too much at all.
