You Taste Like Toxic Poison [Closed]

There are two sides to Eva. One of them still feels things, and she tries to drown that part in alcohol. She tries to drown it in a well so deep that no one will ever find it again, much less her. Sometimes it comes crawling back up from the deep, all bloody and wet and ugly, and she has to go and drag it back down again.

That's what she's doing tonight as she stumbles through the District 1 suite, using her fingertips against the walls to keep herself from tipping over. She finds the door she wants and pounds against it, rather than merely knocking, until it opens to see a familiar face.

"Let's go, cowboy."

"You sound awfully cocky that you're going to get renewed." She releases his shoulder and drags her hand down his arm. He has good arms. She knows from watching the Games that he has the technique to back up those muscles, too.

She leans in close so her breath is near his neck. "What are you suggesting?"

"Please. They love me. I play along with the game--and I've got charisma."

He lets her crowd in close, moves even closer once she's done speaking, edging her backwards until he can reach past her to the nearest button that will let him contact the service staff. "This is Alpha, District One Suite," he says, looking at Eva rather than the communication device. "I'm...entertaining a guest, and could use some refreshments. And I want them carried up, not sent into the replicator or however it usually works."

His smile widens and he speaks directly to Eva. "You are hungry, aren't you? I'd hate to be a bad host."

"Keep telling yourself that. They'll get bored one of these days, although the multiple personalities schtick is clever. Never saw that one before." She lays down on the bed and props her head up on her fist, eyes lolling about lazily over the clean floor. "You should have a penitent one. Audience loves a sobfest."

She tugs her mouth to the side and considers. "Might as well have popcorn to go with the toy you ordered."

"Whatever they bring up will be good, I'm sure. They are all about the luxury here," says Alpha, adding, "And if you're still thirsty I've got a full bar. Makes me think of home"

He ends the transmission before he continues talking about his performance in the Arena. "It is a 'schtick' that's served me well," he says agreeably, with a slight, annoyed emphasis on the word. "And who says I don't have a penitent personality or two?" He didn't. Even Ballard wasn't penitent so much as angry. Especially at this moment. "I just don't let them take the reins. Don't really know how to enjoy themselves."
