He'd woken up in a big bed. He'd never been in such a big bed before, so he wasn't so sure what was going on when he found himself in one. It was a little ... what was that word he'd heard Courfeyrac use once? .... Disconcerting, that was the boy. He looked around the room, a little confused. He wasn't entirely sure how he'd gotten back here. After all, last he remembered he was scouting for stuff in the arena and then ... well, then nothing.

He slid out of the bed, catching sight of himself in a nearby mirror. Someone had washed and cut his hair, leaving it in a neat little cut that somehow made him look younger than he was. He was also in some weird all in one suit type thing, that covered his feet, leaving soft little noises as he walked around. There was a hat thing attached to it, with a face on it, Gavroche pulled it up to inspect it in the mirror, before quickly shoving it down again.

He made his way out of his room. Maybe he could find someone to tell him what was going on.

"Aen't rightly knowing." He ought to find out, he figured. Would probably help.

"What District? 10? They said 10 to me. Aen't rightly sure on what that means." Gavroche pulls at the suit again. He really isn't liking this all-in-one suit. It's too warm. He never thought he'd complain of being too warm.

"Aen't gonna kill no one who aen't done nofing to me!" Gavroche snaps back. "Weren't hurting you, were I?"

"You should be." She shrugged and then grinned, "But now you do be here, and we can be doing what we do be wanting til next time."

"Me neither. It really just means which floor we're on, right? I got in trouble for switching rooms with Eponine earlier..." He shakes his head and steps away from the door.

Karkat crosses his arms in front of his chest. "Your point? If you only kill people that have already hurt you, you'll lose in the arena. It's not my fault you suck at being a Tribute."

"Yeah...you're gonna have to get used to that." She reached up to try and help him loosen the outfit looking for buttons or zippers or straps.

"See they dress us up because they want people to like us or hate us. If people like us, the next time we get thrown into the arena people might give us stuff like food to help us not die."

"Get used to it?" Get used to being put in ridiculous suits that ain't even proper suits with pockets or anything? Gavroche couldn't see any type of reasoning for it.

"...Right. So, if they want peoples to like me, why they makin' me look a fool?"

"I want to get out of this bloody suit," Gavroche muttered, an annoyed look crossing over his features.

One name jumps out, and Gavroche looks. "'Ponine? You know 'Ponine? Where is she?"

"Aen't asking to be one, am I?" Gavroche snapped, crossing his arms angrily over his chest. Of course, in the suit he was forced into, it was a laughably adorable image but it did nothing to hide his anger.

"Do you think I asked to be one either?" Karkat snorts. "I'm not going to apologize for playing the game the way it's meant to be played!"

"Shouldn't have to play the game at all," Gavroche's voice dropped to an almost silent mutter, the warnings his sister gave him of his tongue being cut out chosing that moment to come forth and remind him they existed.

"Signless would just love you," Karkat mutters under his breath. He sighs. "Look, dipshit, 'shoulds' don't matter here. Right now we're slaves of the Capitol. We fight and die for the highblood Capitol humans' entertainment. That's just how shit is. This is nothing new. They do games like this back where I come from--just not with so many people fighting at once. Except we're luckier than all the poor dumbfucks back home, because here that they bring us back from the dead and give us a chance to fight again."

Fuck, this was ridiculous. "Do you even know how to fight?"

A shrug. "Aen't bad with a pistol"

Oh good. The wiggler wasn't totally incompetent. "Okay, fine, that's something, but I don't think they actually let people have guns in the arena."

"Maybe I c'n find one," he thought he had heard shots when he was in the arena last time.

Karkat rolls his eyes. "Oh, that's a great idea, pin all your hopes onto maybe finding a gun. Do you know how to trap people? Do you know how to kill people without guns?"

"More on the sides?" says Volanz, drawing lines back from his own eyes across his temples in an attempt to mimic where a grue's eyes are. "He had a lot of legs too," he remembers.

"Mostly people are more troll shaped than not around here, though."

"Yeah, she's my girlfriend." Howard gives Gavroche a skeptical look. "She's in D3. Why?"

"Because they're fools." Sandy sighed letting go of him and giving up on making the suit more comfortable.

"This whole place is crazy, but they were born and raised here so to them it's all normal and we're the weird ones."

"You must be having some more clothes somewhere. They like giving you a load of clothes and they do be saying you should no be wearing the same thing for more than a day! It do be a bit stupid." She wrinkled her nose in distaste for their fashion.

"Yeah? M'finkin' summat aen't quite right wiv that picture," Gavroche rolled his eyes, giving up on the suit for the moment. "So whats yer name? M'Gavroche."

"On the sides works too." Gavroche nodded. "Able to see people from all angles." He nods at the lot of legs too, of course aliens should have lots of legs, it makes sense.

He frowns. Troll-shaped? "Don't you mean people shaped?"

Gavroche blinked. Well, there was stuff in his room that looked like it might hold clothes but he had never thought to investigate it. "Stupid aen't the word fer it, they must have money to waste." Gavroche did not approve of this.
