Karkat... isn't dead anymore. Which was weird, because he quite vividly remembers dying and he doesn't remember anyone resurrection kissing him (not that he knows if that kind of shit would even work outside the Medium.)

The point was, however, that if he isn't dead then neither is the Signless probably and that meant that Karkat actually has the chance to clear up a few important things with the older troll--especially about that unintentional shoosh-pap, but about their shared mutation too.

Unfortunately, Signless evidently isn't part of the same "district" that Karkat had been assigned to, so in order to find him Karkat is going to have to venture out into the Training Center's common area.

"You'd have been killed by one of the other grubs," Karkat says, his voice dripping with scorn, "during the trials."

"I would no have been. I would have been killing them all first." Whatever a grub was, it sounded stupid anyways.

"Yeah right," Karkat scoffs. "I bet you didn't make any culls before someone got you in the arena."

"I did be killing people." At least she knew what cull meant, she hated asking what words meant. "Even before I did be being kidnapped here I did be killing people, I bet you did no be doing so. I bet you did be dying after two days in the arena."

"I did not," Karkat snarls. "I culled twice before that psychopath got me--and I probably could have taken down more if I'd had an actual blade."

Oh he had killed twice too, she grinned. "What psychopath did be getting you?" She asked, that was what Howard had called her, and though she didn't know what it meant if there was someone else who got called the same thing maybe she should meet him.

"I don't fucking know!" Karkat snaps. "I didn't get a chance to ask his name before he slit my throat."

"What do fucking be meaning? You have been using that word a lot." It seemed to be some kind of adjective, very likely negative.

Karkat squints at her suspiciously. Finally his urge to explain shit to people wins out. "It's a thing you say to make whatever you just said sound more intense."

"So can it be being used for good things as well? It do just be being like saying very lots of times." New word memorised, and added to her rapidly growing dictionary.

"Yeah, basically," Karkat says. "Only it's way more effective than just saying very a shitload of times."

"I do be liking it." She grinned, "It do be a fucking good word."

She grins at him, did she use it right?

He rolls his eyes. "Yeah, that's how you use it. Good job, Doobie. You sound marginally less ridiculous."

She stuck her tongue out at him, "I do never be sounding ridiculous."

He sticks his tongue back. "You always be sounding ridiculous."

"You do be sounding more ridiculous, you do be sounding as stupid as you do be looking."

She stuck her tongue out again.

"Do you even be knowing where the taller alien troll who do be being much cooler than you even if he do be looking the same do be being?"

"No," Karkat says, glaring. "That's why I'm fucking looking for him."

"Why did you be being losing him?" She stuck her tongue out, "You must be being very stupid."
