'Cause we all wanna party when the funeral ends and we all get together when we bury our friends

Who| TYP Children and You?
What| TYP Children have the opportunity to look around.
Where| The Tribute Tower main floor.
When| Now through the week leading up to the arena.
Warnings/Notes| TYP children showing up early is not mandatory. This is merely an avenue for those NPC players who were interested.

In part with the President’s wishes, the District children are not training or living in the same building, but rather, a refurbished old Tribute tower as was used in the days before Tributes were offworlders of vast number. Mentors, Escorts, and Stylists alike will need to travel to the new building to work with them, then travel back to see to their offworld Tributes. Public appearances are minimal so long as the Tribute is kept busy with training and private interviews. There is, however, a brief chance to meet a few of them before the arena, should you catch them on a visit to the offworlder’s tower, restricted to the main floor. Through this, the lucky few District children able to show are allowed fleeting glimpses in person of those they will be competing with and possibly even a chance to talk to them in person.

Phil didn't let her finish what she was saying before he lifts her head with both her hands and clears the trails with his thumbs. That victory was for her and all the children of District 6, in hopes they wouldn't be stolen away by the Capitol. Too bad they broke that fundamental promise. She's been crying for so long...she's scared.

"Right now, you're in no condition to handle weapons. I don't want you to get hurt-" God knows what they'll do to you if you don't make it to the Arena "A-And it's alright to feel like this. To be scared...do you want to tell me?"

"I--" Her first thought is to say no. She doesn't want to tell him she's scared, she just wants to go away or for everything else to go away, as long as she's far from here.

It's on her mind; she's going to get hurt anyway. Being in no condition to handle weapons isn't going to matter when she's in the arena. She doesn't want to say that though either. Especially not when he's brushing back her tears like that.

"I don't know." That, at least, is honest.

Phil doesn't pry on what that answer meant, and he follows through with something else, "I used to face death every night back in my world. I-It never got any easier but I had a job to do. I knew I could get hurt...but I kept something on my mind to focus."

What that something was, divided into two: justice to keep the bots safe, and revenge on the monster who took those children's lives.

"Let's start from there. I know this is a" Terrible, "An unusual circumstance g-given the offworlders but, uh, tell me what helps you focus. Talk to me about District 6."

Every night. She can't imagine feeling like this every night. It coils within her and draws her in and she feels her bones might break from collapsing in on herself. But she listens nevertheless, grasping on to every word.

She needed something to focus on. She would be apt to point out how difficult it is to find something to focus on when she can't focus, but Phil continues.

"Okay." She nods. "Okay," She repeats. "District six is... well it's mostly the factories. It's in the desert and it goes on forever. There's are on all the walls from the other kids and no one wears shoes, we all drive everywhere. You might think it was barren but there are a lot of animals. Scorpions and hares."

"The hares, is that where Jackie comes from? Karkat talked so much about you, I wanted to meet you in person," Maglev would be treated with the same respect and reverence Phil had to the Panem natives. Or at least those that didn't go out of their way to be assholes.

"And what the people there?" he was using this not just as a way of learning about the District that gave him a home he still didn't think he deserved, but as a sneaky way to help Maglev find her focus point. Barefeet children shuffling along with their parents to the factories...It really added to Linden's descriptions of the place.

She blinks and looks up, not expecting to hear that name. At least not before she remembers Cable calling it out, and Phil himself mentions Karkat. She hadn't realised she would be talked about. She hadn't figured she'd be very interesting, though she certainly tried.

"That's right," She says with a belated nod. "I guess I kind of wanted to meet you too just..." Not like this. She swallows hard against the pain in her throat and the panic in her chest, focusing on his next question. "They're good people. Well, I mean, they're people so everyone is different, but I like them. Especially the younger ones since I'm used to them and they liked when I'd bring them the letters or other things from the school. And there's Cable he--" She gapes for words, finding them caught again.

"I'm sorry," She says then. "I'm not really good at this."

Phillip didn't want to add more pain onto her, more so when he wanted her to have hope. That she wouldn't be left behind because she wasn't an exotic offworlder like himself. He's studied the past games and he's seen just how easily the Capitol throws away those children not born in favored Districts.

"You're doing really good, don't worry about that, Miss Maglev," he said, that formality tic rearing its head over to her. "Karkat assured me that he would do anything and everything in his power to protect you. I will do the same, from this side of the Arena. T-That's what Mentors do, right?"

Phone Guy's inexperience at Mentoring cracked through his professional image, leaving him vulnerable. From that, there was the turmoil of a man who wanted to be a father but could never be, now sending someone else's child to the slaughter. But he did have one thing: "Right. We stand together as a District, that I can promise. Cable will be watching, and cheering you on. T-Those memories, of the people, they're all going to stand together for you and your districtmate."
