'Cause we all wanna party when the funeral ends and we all get together when we bury our friends

Who| TYP Children and You?
What| TYP Children have the opportunity to look around.
Where| The Tribute Tower main floor.
When| Now through the week leading up to the arena.
Warnings/Notes| TYP children showing up early is not mandatory. This is merely an avenue for those NPC players who were interested.

In part with the President’s wishes, the District children are not training or living in the same building, but rather, a refurbished old Tribute tower as was used in the days before Tributes were offworlders of vast number. Mentors, Escorts, and Stylists alike will need to travel to the new building to work with them, then travel back to see to their offworld Tributes. Public appearances are minimal so long as the Tribute is kept busy with training and private interviews. There is, however, a brief chance to meet a few of them before the arena, should you catch them on a visit to the offworlder’s tower, restricted to the main floor. Through this, the lucky few District children able to show are allowed fleeting glimpses in person of those they will be competing with and possibly even a chance to talk to them in person.

The floundering doesn't surprise Derek at all, and he waits more or less patiently for the kid to get over it. Honestly, he probably should have given some kind of greeting, or at least a lead in to where he was going with that - but Derek's never claimed to be the best in social situations.

He gives a grunt in agreement to the question.

"Already got them." There's a pause, as his brows furrow as if he's trying to figure out the right words to use. "People're mad. Easy to get them to support you."

Derek's really not good in social situations and fortunately, this is a well-known fact. Mollusc doesn't dwell on it longer than he has to, forging ahead to the chance he has for learning something and getting this man's help as his Mentor.

"Wait, you're saying that you already got me Sponsors?" he asks, unsure if he heard correctly. "That's... wow, cool, are you serious? Guess you're pretty good at this."

The permanent scowl on Derek's face lessens a little when the kid says he's good at this. That means Mollusc is more likely to listen to him, which is rare for Derek. Not that it really matters, Derek was going to help him anyway, but this makes it so much easier.

"Our job is to keep you alive."

Even more than the other Tributes. They'll come back - this kid won't.

"Don't run for the Cornucopia." It's the opposite of the advice Derek used to give, but the games are different now.

"Well, if you think that the odds favor that kind of thing, more power to the both of us, I guess," Mollusc says with a wry chuckle. "You know I was young enough to miss the cutoff, right? I was never even in a Reaping before this. Never thought I'd have to be. What a surprise."

If he sounds bitter, well... it's because he absolutely is.

"The Cornucopia has pretty high chances of killing you, doesn't it? I wasn't planning to, and now that I know I've got Sponsors, might not need to anyway."

Derek growls quietly at that bitterness. It's agreement, because of course. They should have known better, that the Capitol always has something up its sleeve. And usually it's just when you start to think that maybe you're safe.

He'd learned that a thousand times over, most recently when he was dumped back into the arena and when Aang pulled the shit that landed their stylist in trouble. But he can't show any sign of displeasure towards the Capitol, not here.

"Offworlders were supposed to fix that. They didn't."

He grunts a little, nodding at Mollusc's question. "Especially now. Different kind of Tributes."

Mollusc blinks, but doesn't react with particular unease to the growl. What he knows of Derek has already prepared him for certain mannerisms, and he's not about to question or disrespect a classic Victor. Especially not to his face, especially when he's the type to growl when he doesn't like something.

"Who's gonna fix any of this? I guess I can just do my best in there and hope that I make it out alive, Offworlders or none."
