In part with the President’s wishes, the District children are not training or living in the same building, but rather, a refurbished old Tribute tower as was used in the days before Tributes were offworlders of vast number. Mentors, Escorts, and Stylists alike will need to travel to the new building to work with them, then travel back to see to their offworld Tributes. Public appearances are minimal so long as the Tribute is kept busy with training and private interviews. There is, however, a brief chance to meet a few of them before the arena, should you catch them on a visit to the offworlder’s tower, restricted to the main floor. Through this, the lucky few District children able to show are allowed fleeting glimpses in person of those they will be competing with and possibly even a chance to talk to them in person.

His eyebrows raise a tick.

"Guess you know what you're doing." His voice is still rough, though this time it's broken up by a smile - faint, but it's there before it fades and he lowers his eyes to the table, focusing on it intently for a moment. "They real where you're from?"

The animals in the Districts. He doesn't really know what he's doing, talking to her. One of the kids they've set up to be slaughtered. He already knows what he'll do once they get in the arena - and he hadn't really thought much about chatting with them being part of that. Steve knows he wouldn't trust any of the competitors, not if he were in her shoes.

Not that he trusts many of them to begin with.

"Sure they are. They aren't made to be pretty. They're born to live. They're real."

She doesn't really know why he's talking to her either. It's not like he needs to butter her up for an alliance to betray her later. He's a big man, and he could probably break her neck with a good swipe. There's not much she could give him, either. He wouldn't even get glory from killing her, since she's so small.

But still, maybe it's nice to talk to someone who doesn't look like a freak and talk about what an honor it is to die.

He makes a grunt-like sound of agreement, eyeing a man with electric blue hair and eyebrows to match as he passes by - and quickly tenses up as the man abruptly changes direction to head their way. At first the Capitolite appears to mistake the look for an inviting one, his plastic face somehow managing its way into a wide grin, maybe hoping for a conversation with a pair of Tributes - but he's quick to realize his mistake when the larger of the pair fixes a glare on him that matches the ones Bacopa had been shooting at everyone.

As the Capitolite departs in a hurry, Steve relaxes and goes silent again.

Honestly, he's probably not going to be much for her to talk with. But he makes decent Capitol-repellent.

Bacopa glares at the Capitolite too, but she knows she can't deter a grown man on her own. That's what the big guy does.

She glances at the big guy. She fingers the edge of her plate before standing up, grasping the plate and plopping down across from the man. Then she starts stuffing her clothes and eating again.

She wants to talk to Capitolites even less than she doesn't want to talk to anyone else. She's going to sit next to the big guy who keeps the Capitolites away.
