What| Sansa arrives in the Capitol
Where| Around the Tribute Center and the Capitol
When| ...Now?
Warnings/Notes| TBC
She feels lost and unmoored, but that's nothing new. Since her father's death, through all the long protracted nightmare of King's Landing, she's felt that way, out of her depth and swept up in things beyond her control. In that sense, it hardly comes as a surprise for Ser Dontos' boat to become a dream, and to wake up somewhere else entirely.
It's the place itself that shocks her, therefore, at least as much as the fact that she's here. She's never seen or even dreamed of anything like this land, all glass and steel and blinding white, even the guards dressed in something glossy and clean and hard that certainly isn't steel armour. She lets herself be guided without argument, meek and mild as any girl could ever be, and feels oddly bereft when they leave her in her new room without even that dubious company.
When it comes down to it, though, she doesn't stay in the room long - but still long enough to wonder at a few of the strange objects scattered around it: the black mirror on the wall that barely reflects, the lights in the ceiling that have no clear flame. Then, feeling the strangeness of it all well up inside her, she knows she ought to get moving. She has to find out where she is, for one thing, and what the allegiances are of its lords. The Lannisters will be looking for her, she thinks, and if she ends up back in King's Landing, what she endured before will seem like tender mercy.
For the rest of the day, Sansa can be found wandering - first out into District 6's common area, then around the rest of the strange building, and at last out into the streets themselves. Her wonder is written on her face, along with a growing unease; she is so caught up in staring up at the sweeping buildings and foreign towers and strange lights that she may well bump into several people, her ladylike grace and manners momentarily forgotten.
If she does drag her eyes away from the city long enough to focus on its people, she will approach anyone who looks as though they might be friendly, bobbing a curtsey and asking politely if she might have a word.

"Might not be a wolf but little comforts like these help, he's a lap cat I swear," Gray reasoned as he started looking through the files, "I-If you can stomach it, your embroidery can be useful in first-aid skills. I can teach you knife to knife but if you have other means of winning, go right ahead."
It doesn't take long for Phil to find that this young lady's name wasn't Jeyne but he tries to keep calm. Stark is not a name that the Capitol perceives positively these days.

Refusing to let herself dwell on the thought, she focused her attention on the little fox, fussing over the animal. It was easier to look at it than at Phillip, or at the alien surroundings; she might not ever have had a pet fox, but an animal was an animal, and couldn't judge her or damn her the way Phillip could.
"He's very sweet," she said after a moment, still stroking the fox's ears gently. "Does he have a name?"

Unless a threat is picked up and Gray has done his best to make sure Foxy can either defend himself or run the heck out of dodge. Him and Lady would have gotten along very well at this rate.
Alas, he's still a Mentor so he offers Sansa this much, "Take today to settle down a-and if you want to buy something, let me know and you can borrow my money, all right?" He figures that, with that sort of file, this Tribute deserves to be spoiled for a day.

She was more than willing to take a day to settle in, though. Especially if that was the fate that awaited her in the end. If she was going to die (and she knew perfectly well that if she ended up in a deathmatch, she wasn't going to win), then she wanted to have a little breathing space before facing it. And maybe, if she was very lucky, maybe she could even find a way to avoid it altogether.

Because this Victor's check? He doesn't want it for himself, he wants his Tributes to be fed and to have no need to overexert themselves to sponsors or bidders.
"We take care of each other here in District 6." And that was a promise Phil would do his best to keep it. "It's small now but you're gonna find people to trust. Do you have any questions?"
no subject
That's the truth. Everything in this world needs questioning, from how do those lights work to how do I survive, and some of those questions will be unsafe to ask, and some unimportant. She has to sort through it all quickly before finally coming up with one which seems both important and safe: "May I ask who is lord of this land? Ought I to present myself to him, or anything of the kind? I fear I know none of the customs of this place, and I should hate to cause offence."

An idea comes to mind, "You're probably going to be able to write him a letter over at the Tribute Youth Program. He reads the letters you send and sometimes he answers them. It's a way to" Indoctrinate, "Teach the younger tributes about Panem's way." He knows of this program through Sandy Marko...though he's not too sure of the good it makes.
"A-As for offense," one look at Sansa and Phil could see this was a sweet girl who wanted to make the best out of the situation. "I really doubt you'll cause a fuss. Just make sure to follow your teacher's instruction a-and do your best." Those last few words weighed heavily on Phil's mind.

"Is everything alight here?" she said after a second, rather shyly, and there was a childishness to her wonder that was hard to miss. "The paintings, and the walls, and the ceilings... it's as if someone built this whole city out of light."
no subject
Gray didn't want to get all technical and bore her but that wonder is something warmly familiar: someone discovering new things around this strange new world. "Your communicator thingy" so scientific, "you can touch and play with it too. And..." The Capitol movie selection was poor in Phone Guy's taste, but he switched the tablet into an animal documentary, "Go on."
Panem's beasts at Sansa's fingertips, who would have thought.

See? Totally neutral. "Th-that said, always be careful if any Capitolite approaches you and you're not comfortable with. You tell me and I'll make sure they back off." Phil could do that much: keep her safe from any bidders.

"Well, you can take this day to have fun and relax, okay? You can meet your fellow Tributes a-and the kitchen has a lot of sweets I've" stress-baked, "I've made so please enjoy yourself, Miss."
