Your Twin, Peekaboo, Hiding Underneath My Skin [Closed]
Who| Eva and Ariadne
What| Rebellious plottings.
Where| Noir Restaurant
When| Week 4
Warnings/Notes| None yet.
Sometimes Eva likes to dress like a bird. She finds feathers a bit tacky, but the Capitol couture she chooses today is designed with diaphanous crimped fabrics and stilt-like heels that make her appear to be as much human as some sort of black and red crane. The makeup on her nose is even calculated to make it seem longer and thinner.
She pretends that if she stands very still, she'll disappear into a forest of reeds that will spring from the floor around her feet. She pretends that if she wishes hard enough, she'll find that she's not actually human at all, but some real winged creature not pinned to human contraptions like civilization and structure.
She waits in the Noir lounge, drumming her fingers on her knee. It's not that Ariadne's late; it's that Eva is early. This is an important meeting, a risky meeting, but as she told Daniel, the center cannot hold. Strange things are afoot in the Capitol. She's waited twenty years, more, and only now does she feel as if the time is, if not ready, ripening.
Like the first time she and Ariadne met, there is a red bird in her hair.

She sat in such a way that kept her legs absolutely together; though there was no threat against her this time, it was the point of the thing. It helped that, in the darkness, Eva couldn't see how unhappy she looked, glaring down into the black like Baron would be able to feel it.
"Still not much beyond the alphabet itself, but I remember the odd word as well."

She places her hand on Ariadne's knee and starts to sign, letter by letter.
"So many languages have been lost. It's a tragedy. We really don't appreciate culture anymore. You can see that even the Arenas are recycled now."
HU S SIDE R U ON
She punctuates it by drawing a question mark.

"You're right. They're still interesting, but there's so much more they could do with them."
She paused, reaching across to place her own hand on Eva's knee. REBEL
"Especially with all the Tributes around to draw from."

"When the technology was first announced, I thought we'd see a cultural expansion, and instead it's just been the same old garbage again and again."

"Perhaps given enough time, they'll start making the most of it. I'm surprised that wasn't the first thing they did. They seem so creative."
To say that she wasn't necessarily privy to everything was an understatement; she wasn't quite as wrapped up in things as she'd have liked, but it was certainly a start.
WE R WAITING
WE NEED GOOD TIMING

For a moment, she forgets they've been talking with their voices too.
I FOUND TARGET
After a second to breathe deep, AND OPENING.

Besides, their meals would arrive soon, likely breaking the focus they had on the under the table conversation that the Capitol had no way of knowing about.
WHO, punctuated with a drawn question mark. WHERE

CROWNING
She removed her hand from Ariadne's leg to wipe at her eyes, wipe the tears on the hem of her dress, play with the invisible bird hairpin in the dark.
CAN NOT DO IT MYSELF

She wasn't sure if Eva was crying or not, couldn't really understand why she was if that was the case; her mind was wandering to how they could go about the extensive necessary plans to get in and out without being caught.
SMALL TEAM?

The limitations of their communications makes it difficult. Eva's got some of the groundwork laid out, but it's minimal. She doesn't know how to make a bomb. She doesn't have the connections to get an Avox where she needs them to be. She simply knows the opportunity exists, from having slept with the right Sponsors, some of whom don't wake up when she goes through their things in the middle of the night, some of whom are just loose-lipped, and she knows if there are enough people to coordinate it they could pull it off. But that's all she's got.
That's four decades of biding her time.
DO U HAVE ALLIES

She felt a strange pang of homesickness, though she knew upon her arrival back home, they would all be going their separate ways anyway.
NOT YET
Which was a problem. She had Elias, but she wasn't getting him wrapped up in some plot like this. He would know, certainly, but the last thing she was going to do was volunteer him.

Pawns. Avoxes are useful in the places they can go, but woefully limited in other regards. Eva's not proud of the methods she's used to get some of them under her thumb - there are a few who come willingly with her, but others she's terrorized and bullied.
ALONE 4 LONG TIME. ISOLATED.
Pathetic, perhaps. She regrets signing it as soon as it's out of her hands.
But she's sure Ariadne understands, too - coordinating is hard enough when you're always watched. The Capitol has ways of turning people against each other simply by keeping them from reaching out.

YES
She understood, at least. Really, she did. It had been nearly impossible to orchestrate anything beyond the initial meeting between herself and Elias, and difficult to get this one without setting off too many alarm bells. Eventually someone would catch on that Ariadne and Eva were less than innocent as far as things went, and that their meetings were probably best separated. But until then, they could only make the most of the time they were given.
WHAT NOW

I FIND INTEL
There's a creak and some light enters the room. Eva quickly pulls her hand away from Ariadne as the waiter comes in with bowls of soup for each of them. In a way, she feels guilty asking Ariadne to create the spider's web of connections, but it's riskier, and until she can communicate the information she's gathered she finds herself invaluable.
