The Tribute Youth Programme: July

Who| Adults who act as chaperones on the field trips. Any Tribute character aged 18 and under. This is ICly Mandatory for Tributes under 18 so your character will be there even if you don't tag in.

Where| A private school building within the Capitol, a waterpark, a zoo.
When| Regular school hours (8 AM to 3 PM) four days a week (Monday-Thursday)

NOTES| If you would like your character to be caught trouble-making, please contact mods. We are looking for both Mentors to speak of the District they hail from (or represent), and Capitolite characters to talk of Panem's greatness. The Tribute Youth Programme is back in full force. The Teacher missed you all!

Class will go much like it did before, anthems, uniforms, and all. By now the new badges should all be sewn right in. You still have the opportunity to earn more, and on top of all this, your letter replies have at last come in! Along with all the (questionably subsisting) pet bats promised of Panem Nightly.

This time is extra special, however, for there is a secret surprise planned for next month that the Teacher is preparing for. Something about partners for tents and canoes? Whatever that means. Maybe if you sign up early you'll get a partner you like. And perhaps asking among the adults if any would like to chaperone for the mystery trip.

As for this current trip, those who earned the bonus will get a free ride around the park on one of the elephants, front row seats to a live performance in the aquarium area, and a custom photo souvenir with their favourite animal.

She thrashes her arms and legs around helplessly in the water, in a state of utter panic, pushing herself off from the bottom of the pool and shooting back up, only managing to gasp in a deep breath before being submerged once more.

"Aw man!"

Clearly she wasn't about to save herself. Ruffnut dove into the water hurling herself at her thrashing mentor and trying to use her lanky arms to wrap around the woman. Ruffnut was a very good swimmer...but in a panic like this it would be more like a wrestling match then anything to drag Emily to the shallow waters.

"Calm down! Calm Down!" She roared before water got in her mouth and she too was coughing and sputtering. Her eyes burned red with the chemicals of the water but her feet kept finding purchase on the rough bottom of the pool.

Instinctively Emily clings to Ruffnut, scrabbling up her to try to get as far out of the water as she can. She heaves in ragged breaths, coughing and feeling the chlorine sting in her throat.

"Sorry, I--" she pants, "--I shouldn't have come out this far."

Finally reaching shallow enough waters Ruffnut sank yo her knees, exhausted but keeping a firm grip on her mentor.

"N-nah...I ran into you. S'my fault." She sputtered some water then offered a crooked but reassuring smile to the older woman.

"You need to be closer to land?" She offered.

"Out of the water completely would be wonderful." She presses her feet to the tiled pool bottom tentatively before standing up straight and letting go of Ruffnut, letting out a deep breath through pursed lips in the same way she does to dispel anxiety.

Thankful that she seemed capable of moving on her own again Ruffnut straightened up as well and took a moment to cough up some water that she'd swallowed. She kept close to her mentor though in case she needed more help.

"Do you not know how to swim?" She asked with her usual lack of tact.

Emily shakes her head, feeling the water drip from her hair and trickle down her sides as she does so. "It's not something you really need to know when you live in the middle of the forest," she replies, feeling a little self-conscious.

"Yeah...alright that makes sense." Even if Ruffnut can hardly imagine a life without the ocean around her.

Awkwardly the lanky teen reached over to pat her on the back, then grinned crookedly.

"Well look at it this way, you're still alive right? That means you won! Water tried to end you and you fought back."

"No, you fought back. She manages a weak, albeit grateful smile. "Let's hope the next Arena's in the ocean, you'd do splendidly."

Well she's not one to throw off praise even if she doesn't entirely feel like she deserved it.

"Yeah especially if I have a boat." She joked and then jerked a head deeper inland.

"How about we go get something to drink and then try the water again?"

Because yes it may be a little embarrassing for you but your simple minded tribute wants to protect you.

Emily looks out at the water uneasily, her stomach twisting at the thought of going back out there. "I think I might have had enough excitement for one day."

Ruffnut looks as though she cannot comprehend that idea, who can ever have too much excitement? Never mind that she's felt that way herself once in awhile that's usually from life or death situations. Even given what happened here she doesn't view this place as dangerous.

"Alright if you're sure. But If you change your mind and wanna kick the waters butt I'm here." Jerking a thumb to herself in pride at being able to be comfortable in the water no matter what world it was.
