(no subject)

Who: Nux and OPEN
What: Alive is good....maybe?  Having no money is...what is money?
Where: District 8 common area and training
Warnings: TBD?

A:  DIstrict 6 Common Area:

Nux is probably hard to see, because he's sitting on the floor.  Because, yeah, what is furniture?  They didn't have that in the Citadel. Even cars had most of their seats stripped out, except for the driver's.

He misses driving, but after a few pokes at the tv remote, he's figured out what it does. And so he's found a racing show--sure they're not cars, but they're racing around that track for sure--while he's gotten a toaster dismantled into pieces between his legs.

B:  Training Room

He's feeling waaaay better than he probably has a right to feel. Especially, you know, after being killed and all.  By a little girl!  He always KNEW females were weird, but, yeah, didn't see that one coming!  So he's on the far side of the punching bags, where he can view anyone coming in, noticeably trying to avoid anyone of the female persuasion, as he shifts between punching the bag and throwing knives. They're not quite lances or thundersticks, but they're close enough, he figures.

"Be better if they exploded, though," he muses, heading down range to retrieve them.  Because, well, anything's better if it explodes.

C: Random Wandering In the City

Yeah, the City kind of weirds Nux out. It's so big. And there's like...open space. And there's shops, which are places that sell things! Things like...stuff he's never seen before! Like apple peelers and spaghetti tongs and....boxer underwear and big foil packets filled with air and something called 'potato chips' and little things that play music...the way he stops and stares into shop windows, or at people, it's probably really easy to run smack into six foot four of pasty War Boy.

Or, conversely, having him run into an innocent bystander as he runs out of a shop, hands full of plunder.  Paying for stuff? Wh-what's that?

She's most definitely not a statue, no. How she works... well, that's harder tell, although it's perhaps fortunate that she's not actually aware that Nux's assumption is that she's a machine. She might have gotten used to the idea of them over the course of her stay in Panem, but the idea of being one herself is one that she'd find a little odd at the best.

She's not moving much like a vehicle either, if Nux is paying attention to her feet - if there are wheels involved anywhere it's certainly not there at the very least.

On the other hand, the point is swiftly made largely moot, as she draws near enough that conversation is something that's reasonably feasible. Nux is like not very much like anyone she's seen before and she's never been one to hide her curiosity.

"I do not think I have seen you before," she comments, without so much as missing a beat and with a surprising amount of politeness, given that she's a giant lizard. "Have you only just arrived?"

It takes Iskierka a moment to place the description, if only because she'd died too soon to get much of a glimpse of the Arena proper. But after a moment or three she remembers what she'd caught glimpses of in the recaps; enough to at the very least recognize what Nux is talking about.

"Oh! That would have been the Arena."

She offers it in the same sort of tones as one might offer when explaining the weather, and if it's occurred to her that Nux might only have something of an idea as to what those are supposed to be - and where this actually is, besides - she certainly isn't mentioning it yet.

Iskierka has, by and large, gotten used to the oddities of the Capitol. But even then, her knowledge of more modern things is a little hit or miss - and even when she's seen something before she doesn't always know the name of a thing.

So it's perhaps no real surprise that she asks the question she does, for all it likely sounds extremely unusual to Nux.

"What is a 'car', please?"

There's a moment of consideration after Nux's description of a car before she answers. The world she lives in, while modern enough to have wheeled vehicles, is rather significantly before the invention of self-propelled vehicles (discounting flying on dragonback, of course). Nor is she usually of a size that makes traversing the streets of a city particularly easy - enough so that it takes her a while to distill the description into something that makes sense.

"Oh! Like a carriage?"

...Admittedly, Nux probably has about as much idea of what a horse-drawn carriage is like than she does in regards to cars, but she thinks she has the idea of the thing, and in any case Nux's following is enough to keep her from dwelling on the fact over much.

"And of course I am dragon! I should hardly wish to be anything else, after all."

"I should be ever so glad to see one, if you did."

The fact that Nux might not, in fact, be particularly good a drawing is something that she isn't aware of and wouldn't have considered a problem even if she had. True, it might mean she'd have a slightly unusual idea of what cars were meant to look like, but it's not like she has any idea at the moment - anything is better than nothing, even if it is slightly terrible drawings.

"But pray, who is the 'tree girl'?"

It doesn't occur to her that Nux might actually be talking about Ruffnut, and instead her mind conjures up some very strange images about someone who's part tree.

It's hard to miss. Unfortunately, while Iskierka can tell that it's some very impressive scarring, she doesn't recognize it as an engine, mostly because she isn't actually familiar with any sort of engine, much less the sort that happens to be on Nux's chest.

"Oh! I didn't know she spent time in the trees, this past arena."

This is mostly because Iskierka had died too early in the arena to really have much of an idea of what people had been up to, and had only been sort of haphazardly interested in watch the reviews besides. Watching the fights never has been quite as interesting as actually being involved in them, and she's never been fond of being one of the earliest to die, besides.
