“Hell yeah it is,” Sam agrees with a flash of a smile that’s closer to a kind of predatory determination than it is about humor. It’s still something that Sam’s coming to terms with - Albert is alive - but he knows damn well what it means that so many Tributes made it to 13 after being thought dead.

“Means we better get this right, because a lot of people are counting on us now. And means we manage to pull this off, maybe we’re a little bit closer to what you and I talked about.”

Bucky nods sharply. "We're going to get this right."

He may not like what he was under HYDRA, he may not want to be it anymore, but there's a twisted sort of pride overlaid underneath at the knowledge he was a creature that got things right. He got a mission and he didn't fail. Now he's just got to turn that kind of success to the right side of things.

"It's almost time."

"You're damn right we are."

This is one of the reasons why he knew it was important for him to tell the others about this before the mission. It's not a victory, not by a longshot, but it's better than what they had before, knowing some of them got out of the Capitol. And it's a personal motivation, beyond the ones they already had.

Without thinking about it, he holds up his hand, curled into a loose fist, looking for a fistbump.

Bucky blinks and at this point there's no claiming ignorance of the gesture even if he wanted to, which he doesn't. After a moment, with the smallest quirk of his lips upwards, he lifts his hand and bumps it gently against Sam's.

Feels good.

Sam's expression lights up, just for a moment, when Bucky fistbumps him back.

Then he nods, taking a few steps back, ready to join back in the mission preparation.

"Let's do this, man, see you on the other side."
