The Crowning of Tony Stark

Who| Everyone.
What| The Crowning of Tony Stark.
Where| The New Capitol Stark Expo!
When| Friday, late afternoon into the evening.
Notes| This event is mandatory for all Tributes to attend. Even if you do not tag in, your character will attend this party.  Peacekeepers will be on high alert, so no funny business.
WARNINGS| Alcoholism / References to Alcoholism.

The Capitol might be known for its extravagance, but Stark Expos have never skimped on a show. Combining the two together could only be a recipe for the most wild indulgences. The center theater takes styling after a arc reactor, with glass ceiling and glowing blue lights set right within the metal and putting a glow to the sky. Lightshows go off on the main stage, the stark logo overhead and a massive screen displaying the Panem flag and Tony Stark's image just behind the dancing Ironettes. A circle plattform going off from the stage, clearly reserved for the guest of honor, features a design Panem's bird in red, gold, and glowing blue.

A globe is featured in the outside gardens, showing off a map of Panem, and the park is filled with artistic statues of destroyed Iron Man amror. But there's no quiet here, not with the fireworks going off all night and the consistent playing of music that is not but sounds an awful lot like that of Daft Punk, Eifel 65, ACDC, and one other song that breaks them up.

Various shows can be found about the gardens, including display models of some of Tony Stark's old weapons and Iron Man suits. Further along guests may find the Avengers display, featuring large portraits of the Avengers and their allies, large red x's going over greyed out portraits of those deemed dead, including Phill Coulson, Natasha Romanoff, and Thor. Along with these portraits can be found the Stark family tree, featuring the Victor Tony Stark and all his relations including apparent son Dave Strider, and Arya Stark, Ancestor of the Stark family, not to mention the great Howard Stark who's accomplishments (and tragic lack of care for Anthony) are lovingly illustrated. One such accomplishment being a "flying car" just a short walk over.

There's plenty for guests to do besides just ogle the brilliant sights however! A bar has been set up with a whole variety of drinking games available from Sink The Battleship and Drink Roulette to an extravagent variation of the classic game, Beer Pong, and an ongoing run of the Games with rules of drinking for each emotional scene, funny incident, or death. Those under the age of eighteen will be served fizzing juice or soda instead and can participate in junior versions of the very same games. All the cups are made from the finest glass with Tony Stark images over them. Avoxes are on scene to clean every spill and break of glass that might come.

A cave has been crafted of artificial and real material, designed to look like the Cave in which Tony Stark became a real hero, but with a twist; it's been made into a fun-for-all maze! Guests can attempt to navigate their way to the labyrinth and reach the core, avoiding those nasty pop-out rebels along the way. Those who make it to the fire-lit center may receive a limited edition "Tony Stark Heart" miniature arc reactor in a beautiful glass case.

An indoor sky diving station is also available, large enough that many guests may enter at once and still find it spacious. Here, guests can don Iron Man themed sky-diving suits and experience the sensation of flight, just as Tony Stark once did. Of course, the party doesn't start until the Victor comes in; he'll be appearing by Capitol-controlled suit to make his entrance at center stage. It is here that his Throne shall be raised up through the stage and his crown gifted to him. Following the official Crowning Ceremony will also come a speech from the Capitol's very own, Cyrus Reagan.

Tributes are dressed in formal wear with robotic accents. Such as a full mask or metal armor. Capitolites can be seen with Tony stark styled hair, bearing tattoos in his image, and even with surgically implanted lights, in honor of the new Victor. Available for purchase are handcrafted Tony Stark dolls, Iron Man action figures, and models of beloved robot-pet "Dum-E" in both small and life-sized. The Iron Man light gloves come completely free for all guests.

The Crowning ends off with a bang, as in the center of the sky, a massive "wormhole" opens up showing a vast darkness full of sinister creatures just on the other side, sure to inspire some screams from fans. Guests near to the Iron Man suit displays are asked by peacekeepers to step back-- far back-- but may be the first to witness the incredible scene of all those suits launching into the sky and exploding around and "in" the wormhole. The wormhole shifts to a message stating the show to have been brought to you by the Hunger Game's skilled Sky-Display Designers before going into advertising for the rest of the night as the party dies down.

"Because." It's the easiest way to ease herself into admitting it. It didn't really matter if the answer was yes or no--though a yes might have given her some direction in how to handle this.

"When we first met, I liked you a lot. You were really easy to like because even with all of your blustering and anger and threats... I could tell that you didn't mean any of it. It was sort of like a game, and at the end of the day, no one was hurt for it because none of it was real. And as time went on, that same fact held true over and over again; and I started to trust you. You were safe. I could let down my guard and actually care about what you had to say because I knew that you would never use it to hurt me." Not like others would have. Not like Vriska did. She lets out a breath, preparing herself mentally for the next part.

"But when all of that happened with past Karkat... That was a different kind of anger. It wasn't a game, and it wasn't just anger. He actually hated me. I spent months trying to build up some defense to every angry look and angry word that he threw at me. I couldn't avoid him. Sometimes he sought me out, just to tell me what a monster I was. I knew when I killed Signless that it was going to be bad, and I thought I was prepared for that; but my imagination and the truth were very different things. It put a crack through something that I didn't know how to fix, even after we finally managed our apologies. And I still don't know how to fix it, now that you're here."

"...And I'm scared of letting that hurt me again. I know that sounds dumb. When has Terezi been scared of anything? But those months were awful, and I was miserable. And if it wasn't for Kurloz telling me that I deserved better, I would have let it keep going. Part of me was convinced that I did deserve it, after everything that had happened. ...When it was finally over, I told myself I wasn't going to apologize for this any more. I wasn't going to let anyone make me feel like a monster for doing what I had to do back then."

When she starts again, it sounds like it's going to be something longer, and he's not wrong. So he sets in to listen like he had promised before. This is what he wanted from her, some kind of answer and explanation.

The more she goes on, though, the more a sort of disease wells up in him. Past the start, when she gets into the meat of it... He can't help but think of Gamzee and of his last conversation with her on the meteor. And as much as it's something he couldn't see himself doing, not him as he is now, it puts a sick feeling in his stomach that any version of himself would do that. He grimaces, and his gaze sinks.

Part of him wants to take her hands and just promise he'll never do that, but what's that worth in the face of what his past self did? Promises are empty without action to back them up, and it's patently obvious that her trust is already fractured. So for a time he's silent, thinking what to say and how to word it.

"... Back on the meteor, when I talked to you at the end of the trip, it seemed like Gamzee had done something similar to you. Different circumstances, not the same way, but I saw how much it had fractured your confidence and brought you down, and I don't ever want to be the kind of guy to do that to you. And I can't say I wasn't upset, or make promises that we'll never fight about anything or that I'll never hurt you again, but--so long as I can at least state my intents, I don't want to make things into a situation like that."

His gaze draws up slow, and there's a complicated sort of look on his face.

"I can't and won't blame you for being scared after something like that. You have every right to feel however you want after that. And I'm not going to waste energy arguing about past me versus present me and all that, because I already made my point and it doesn't negate what happened to you. But what I'm saying is... I don't want to be someone who... becomes that kind of troll to you. I don't want to be that force in your life. I..."

His lips purse. He has to bring it up sometime.

"This has got to the be the clunkiest lead in to another topic I've ever attempted, but I went back after I died last arena, and--things weren't good. But after that, I don't want to lose you. And I can't say everything's going to be candy and rainbows, or that it will be easy, but this--" He motions between them. "I want to make this work, and I don't want to lose my friendship with you. I don't know all the past wounds between you and whatever version of me went down, but I can try to learn and maybe navigate them better, and maybe help them heal."

With a sigh he finishes, "I want to at least try."

The silence before he speaks is almost as nerve-wracking for her as hers was for him. When he first starts to speak... She's not sure that she wants to hear it. He starts off talking about Gamzee, and her stomach turns a little. She fully expects him to tell her about how much of a wreck she was. How Gamzee had ruined her. How it was just like this, and she was just as broken as she had feared.

But he doesn't go that direction. He says that he doesn't want to do that to her, and part of her really wants to believe that. Another part of her wonders if she really is panfucked for being so willing to let her guard down again, but she doesn't want to listen to that. She's missed having Karkat as her friend... and if she can believe what he says, he's missed it, too.

She rubs at her face with one hand, cradling her forehead for a moment. He wants to try to fix this, and it would be a lie to say that she doesn't want to try, too. Her shoulders sag a little as she exhales a sigh of her own.

"...Okay. I want to try, too." She knows that it will probably be a bumpy road to get back to where they used to be... but it's better than where things are at now.

The wait is a little easier this time, and while he's still nervous that she might turn him away, he has hope enough that she won't do so unduly. When her answer comes, he feels proved right for having it. His expression smooths.

"Thank you," he says, and he means it.

Then half-turning away from her, he asks, "Do you want to help me find my find my way out of this dumb maze? I feel like I'm going to be stuck here the rest of the night otherwise."

There's still a bit of uneasiness in her chest, but for the most part, Terezi is glad that they could work this out. It brings a bit of a smile onto her face.

When he asks for some help with the maze, Terezi huffs out something that might be construed as a laugh. She rolls her eyes, only really visible by the way that her head moves with the gesture.

"That would be a tragedy," she quips back, managing a teasing tone. "Are you sure you want to go out? We haven't even found the prize yet."

His eyebrows lift, but he looks back around their surroundings, shrugs, and says, "Alright. Let's find that stupid prize." Then he laughs. "Look at me, trusting the blind girl to be my navigator. At least Sgrub had hints about these puzzles."

He motions for her to go ahead, and if she'll lead, he'll fall into step beside.

Part of him does wonder if he oughtn't bring up his return trip again... But she heard him. If she wants to ask more, that's her prerogative, and right now he'll take the peace so long as she'll hold it.
