The Crowning of Tony Stark

Who| Everyone.
What| The Crowning of Tony Stark.
Where| The New Capitol Stark Expo!
When| Friday, late afternoon into the evening.
Notes| This event is mandatory for all Tributes to attend. Even if you do not tag in, your character will attend this party.  Peacekeepers will be on high alert, so no funny business.
WARNINGS| Alcoholism / References to Alcoholism.

The Capitol might be known for its extravagance, but Stark Expos have never skimped on a show. Combining the two together could only be a recipe for the most wild indulgences. The center theater takes styling after a arc reactor, with glass ceiling and glowing blue lights set right within the metal and putting a glow to the sky. Lightshows go off on the main stage, the stark logo overhead and a massive screen displaying the Panem flag and Tony Stark's image just behind the dancing Ironettes. A circle plattform going off from the stage, clearly reserved for the guest of honor, features a design Panem's bird in red, gold, and glowing blue.

A globe is featured in the outside gardens, showing off a map of Panem, and the park is filled with artistic statues of destroyed Iron Man amror. But there's no quiet here, not with the fireworks going off all night and the consistent playing of music that is not but sounds an awful lot like that of Daft Punk, Eifel 65, ACDC, and one other song that breaks them up.

Various shows can be found about the gardens, including display models of some of Tony Stark's old weapons and Iron Man suits. Further along guests may find the Avengers display, featuring large portraits of the Avengers and their allies, large red x's going over greyed out portraits of those deemed dead, including Phill Coulson, Natasha Romanoff, and Thor. Along with these portraits can be found the Stark family tree, featuring the Victor Tony Stark and all his relations including apparent son Dave Strider, and Arya Stark, Ancestor of the Stark family, not to mention the great Howard Stark who's accomplishments (and tragic lack of care for Anthony) are lovingly illustrated. One such accomplishment being a "flying car" just a short walk over.

There's plenty for guests to do besides just ogle the brilliant sights however! A bar has been set up with a whole variety of drinking games available from Sink The Battleship and Drink Roulette to an extravagent variation of the classic game, Beer Pong, and an ongoing run of the Games with rules of drinking for each emotional scene, funny incident, or death. Those under the age of eighteen will be served fizzing juice or soda instead and can participate in junior versions of the very same games. All the cups are made from the finest glass with Tony Stark images over them. Avoxes are on scene to clean every spill and break of glass that might come.

A cave has been crafted of artificial and real material, designed to look like the Cave in which Tony Stark became a real hero, but with a twist; it's been made into a fun-for-all maze! Guests can attempt to navigate their way to the labyrinth and reach the core, avoiding those nasty pop-out rebels along the way. Those who make it to the fire-lit center may receive a limited edition "Tony Stark Heart" miniature arc reactor in a beautiful glass case.

An indoor sky diving station is also available, large enough that many guests may enter at once and still find it spacious. Here, guests can don Iron Man themed sky-diving suits and experience the sensation of flight, just as Tony Stark once did. Of course, the party doesn't start until the Victor comes in; he'll be appearing by Capitol-controlled suit to make his entrance at center stage. It is here that his Throne shall be raised up through the stage and his crown gifted to him. Following the official Crowning Ceremony will also come a speech from the Capitol's very own, Cyrus Reagan.

Tributes are dressed in formal wear with robotic accents. Such as a full mask or metal armor. Capitolites can be seen with Tony stark styled hair, bearing tattoos in his image, and even with surgically implanted lights, in honor of the new Victor. Available for purchase are handcrafted Tony Stark dolls, Iron Man action figures, and models of beloved robot-pet "Dum-E" in both small and life-sized. The Iron Man light gloves come completely free for all guests.

The Crowning ends off with a bang, as in the center of the sky, a massive "wormhole" opens up showing a vast darkness full of sinister creatures just on the other side, sure to inspire some screams from fans. Guests near to the Iron Man suit displays are asked by peacekeepers to step back-- far back-- but may be the first to witness the incredible scene of all those suits launching into the sky and exploding around and "in" the wormhole. The wormhole shifts to a message stating the show to have been brought to you by the Hunger Game's skilled Sky-Display Designers before going into advertising for the rest of the night as the party dies down.

China's been meaning to seek out the girl to follow up on the book for a little while now, so she's been keeping a special eye out for her as she strolls around the Crowning. But even if she weren't already looking, the fury in the maze would be difficult to miss.

China strides over to Arya, but stops short of getting within hitting range.

"...Excuse me, dear, are you all right?"

[ooc: I apologize for my lateness!]

"No." She continues kicking at the wall, accentuating every couple of words with a swing of her leg and a crash of her foot into the stone. "This is a stupid party, and everyone who threw it are stupid."

[Never too late!]

She folds her arms around herself and tilts her head. "Everyone?"

She keeps her voice deliberately gentle, trying to ensure her words aren't heard as a threat. "You may not want to speak so of your hosts."

"What's the matter? Some might be grateful to see their name billed in a Crowning that isn't even theirs."

Arya's impulse is to retort that she's not scared of them, but she checks herself, reminding herself of the way that she'd had to keep her head down and bite her tongue in Harrenhal, and how in some ways it was even more vital that she did here.

"They made it all up, though. Why would anyone like that?"

She shrugs. "Even better, then. You're getting publicity without having to do anything for it. I imagine the organizers are going to expect a thank you from you."

"I didn't notice anything particularly offensive about it, either, so that's another thing to be grateful for. Unless our friend Mr. Stark is that much of a disappointment to you."

She smiles at the last remark, trying to make it sound like a joke. Anything to lighten the mood. She's not so married to the Capitol that she doesn't realize there are any number of things at a Crowning that could set a Tribute off. But the media and the powers-that-be are always watching and if someone's name is part of the decorations, she wonders if their behavior might be especially scrutinized. Whatever the cause, a tantrum isn't a good idea, in her opinion.

"No, it's not Tony," she says quickly, feeling just as bad that he's been dragged into her own problems as the fact that the Capitol seemed to be making fun of them at all. She was actually very glad that out of everyone, he'd won. "It's just..." She's actually not sure how to explain it to anyone not from Westeros, and trails off awkwardly, resenting how vulnerable a stupid party has made her feel.

China nods patiently, her eyes attentive on Arya's face. "What is it, then?"

The corner of her mouth quirks up and she gestures to the area around them. "You can tell me. Everyone's too distracted by the party to overhear, I believe."

She looks at China more intently, looking a little uncomfortable now. She'd told hardly anyone here about her past, and she was pretty sure that the woman in front of her was a Capitolite rather than a fellow tribute, something that made her not want to trust her. But if she refused, she'd just come across as a sullen child getting into a tantrum over nothing.

"Stark means something where I come from. It's bad enough that they've physically brought me here without taking me out of family and shoving me into someone else's." No matter where she'd been and how much she had to hide who she was, she always knew deep down that she was a Stark of Winterfell. It was one of the only things she could cling to here. But now the Capitol was trying to pull that from under her and mold her into another set of Starks entirely. "And the throne they made, that's from my world too. And the King who sits on it is a--" She cuts herself off, knowing the four letter words she wants to use against Joffrey probably wouldn't do her any favours. "He's the worst type of person possible. That shouldn't be tied into any Starks."

She watches Arya closely, nodding and frowning at the appropriate moments. "Oh my, what a shame," she observes at the end, with all the emotion of someone who's just spilled a cup of tea.

"Perhaps you could think about it a different way. Maybe the Capitol is replacing that terrible king with someone nicer. And maybe they're trying to be kind by allowing you a new family here."

She can't presume to fathom the master plan they have and it wouldn't be wise to pretend to. But it also wouldn't be wise for a good little Capitol citizen to listen to all of that without trying to inject in something favorable about her nation.

Arya manages to stop herself from rolling her eyes at the lack of sympathy and pro-Capitol positivity so typical of the locals, but she still looks rather irritated. She knows better than to sound off either about Joffrey or the Capitol, certain she'd get into a lot of trouble that just wasn't worth it, but she glowers at China. "I knew I shouldn't have told you."

China's eyes widen innocently, as if nothing she'd just said could possibly bother someone. What could be insulting about having a strange government drag you to a new land and try to force you into a caricature of a family tree?

Who cared about family anyway?

She shakes her head slowly. "I'm sorry, dear. Did I insult you?"

She wants to retort that yes, she'd insulted her and the memory of her family, and that it's not something she was going to forget or forgive, but she knows how much trouble she could get in for threatening a Capitolite, and has been powerless for long enough to know when it's better to keep her mouth shut. She forces a polite, wan smile onto her face. "Of course not. It's just a silly party. It doesn't mean anything."

"...Well. I wouldn't go that far."

Much as China does kind of agree with her, she doesn't want to say something that harsh out in the open. But that's at least more the spirit than before.

"There must be same way for you to recover your evening. I'm sure it's not a total loss."

She turns in a small circle to survey the area. Much of the entertainment out there is pretty targeted to the older crowd, but this little maze is charming, right?

Arya follows her gaze, a little reluctantly. "It doesn't look like they've made it too hard to find the middle," she complains, but she knows it's catered far more to Capitolites who aren't used to this sort of problem solving than the Tributes who'd faced far more complicated puzzles in the Arena. "But there might be something to find there." She sounds a little more hopeful with that thought.

Inside, China feels much the same about the easiness of the maze--it bothers her to no end how few of her fellows really know how to use their brains. Though minor, it's one of the many self-indulgent little reasons she wanted to go work with the Tributes, in the hopes that they'd be different.

She smiles encouragingly. "Great thinking, dear. Even if there's no sense of accomplishment, perhaps there's a prize or some interesting decorations. Something to get your mind off this."

At the very least, maybe it'll be something of a refuge from the noise.
