Parker's standing on the ledge: well, as close to the ledge as she can due to that stupid force field. Likely, as others did before her, she's considering a way down. No, Parker isn't suicidal, but more scaling off / jumping off / flying off buildings is something of a specialty for her.

She's in deep concentration. It doesn't mean she won't know when someone's coming up on her, but still, doing the mental calculations as to what would be needed if she could get around the force field, is important business.

"Yeah, they only want to see us as bloody spatters on TV. Up close carnage is a little too smelly." He wrinkles his nose and kicks his feet out over the edge. The toes of his sneakers make a little smoke and zapping sound as they connect with the forcefield.

"Terminal velocity is 122 miles per hour. Could stop that with as much as a homemade wing suit at this height."

The point being, "Not enough splat."

"Yeah, but 'die anyway' velocity is a lot lower than that. I think. Otherwise people wouldn't goosh blood when a car runs them over at forty miles an hour."

He shrugs. He doesn't seem bothered by this conversation.

"That's to do with the stop, not the speed." Parker may have never attended high school, but she knows her death physics.

"People don't usually goosh anyway."

"How many dead people you seen? People goosh plenty." He wrinkles his nose. "And it does more damage if you stop from faster, duh."

"I know." Parker's seen a lot more dead people than people first think.

"Blunt force isn't as messy, it's the stabbing." Which Parker will now mime.

Although, "Don't really like it." She wrinkles her nose. What is that? A genuine bit of feeling? Possibly.

Howard actually flinches as she mimes out the stabbing. Clearly, she's hit a nerve he didn't realize he was laying out bare.

"Yeah, I don't like it either."

"Good. If you need to stab, you've done it wrong, or they deserve it." A good their should never have to kill anyone. That's a sign of failure.

"I prefer tasers." Rarely deadly, and the twitching is funny.

"Tasers would be awesome. Especially the ones that shoot. I don't have much range." He holds his arms forward, almost but not scraping his fingertips against the forcefield.

"Don't need much range if you wind them." Parker's got several years of Eliot-lessons, never mind her own crouching thief, hidden Tasmanian Devil style of defense.

"Miss my taser."

Howard furrows his brow a bit and wraps his arms around his knees. "You're a cop?"

Hey, that's funny. Parker laughs so hard, that she snorts, not once, but twice.

"A cop? Me?" She'll have to tell Eliot that one.

Howard raises an eyebrow and laughs a little too, although it's more to mirror Parker than because he finds anything funny. "Why else would you have a taser?"

"'Cause I like them." Why else.

"Had my first one when I was 13." It was such an old model. "It was a cop's." Until she liberated from him and gave it a better home.

"How'd you get it?" A lot hinges on her answer. She'll get major admiration if she says she nicked it, an eyeroll if it was a gift from an uncle or something.

"From his belt. Where else? They don't give them away." Now that's a thought. "That would be too cool!"

"Didn't even miss it 'til I was around the corner."

Does she get that admiration?

Howard raises both eyebrows. A smile teases around his lips.

"You nicked a taser off a cop? For real?"

Parker looks surprised at the question. "Where would you get one from? Cops are the best source."

Duh. How is this not obvious?

"I don't know, I'd steal it from somewhere, not someone. That's awesome."

[whosalicewhite]

"Somewhere has video cameras and a bunch of people paid to keep it there. Someone is easier."

Parker's always enjoyed dipping into pockets, other people's, for whatever she wanted.

"I don't know, I like the challenges of both." He grins.

If it's possible for a face to go ADFSJK, that's what Parker does now.

"For fun or profit?" For Parker, there is only one answer: both.

To which Howard's answer won't disappoint: "both".

"Gotta love what you do!" It rare to get to talk to another thief, professional to professional.

"Well, I mean, it's not really a job..." But then again, he's just a teen.
