[semi open] A World of Madness

What| Examining the recovery process through each arena and making sure
Where| D2 Floor and the Training facilities
When| Week 2
Warnings/Notes| Swearing and details about the Arena deaths.
A. Death's a Slap on the Wrist [Locked to D2]
Watching the Arenas as a spectator wasn't that uncommon an activity for Leonidas to partake. He would take notes and analyze the data gathered from it to attune his training sessions with his former clients. It was his duty as a former Career and to his District. But this was the first time he was doing all of this as a staff member. He had to commend the otherworlders and their efforts in survival: the Capitol truly brought strong ones to the bloodbath. But the moment he saw someone die, Leo bit back his arrogance and decided to wait for them. He had to see the process of revival from a physical and psychological point of view. He took a tasergun as a precaution against any particularly violent Tributes reeling from the procedure.
His curiosity always got the better of him but Leo made big boasts in his first communication with the Tributes. Time to come through with said words.
B. Pride is totally not an issue
The numbers were dwindling and it was becoming obvious to Leo that his district was either going to break even with their kills or die horribly. Felicity was still in the competition and he'd have to eat his words towards her. Great in some aspects as she proved her worth were she needed to, bad because he'd have to apologize as soon as she came in. But in retrospect, Calendius' words fell on listening ears, and if Worthington didn't win, Leo would commend her and make sure she continues whatever she's doing.
The hobbit of a man rubbed his forehead as he worked on other things, but his eyes fell back to the Arena screening...and the sabertooth battles. "Shit, shit, shit," he spat out, "Don't let the close...break the nose and-" He stopped himself.

He remembered coming out of it after his own Arena; he'd passed out at some point after they'd picked him up. He hadn't wanted to, but passing out wasn't a thing you could control that way...especially not when someone was jabbing at you with a syringe of sedatives. To wake up in a hospital room after that Arena had been more than a little shock, and Torin could only imagine how that would be if you'd been dead upon waking up. Bad enough to have survived.
His gaze fell on the taser. "That's not going to do anything to endear you to them."

If there were any outbursts that threatened the safety of everyone else, Cora wasn't going to run away and let the Tribute raise hell.
"They're using the tissue repair machines to bring their bodies back to the state prior to death but...but the actual process of resurrection? Not allowed."

"Can't say I'm surprised they don't want anyone watching the actual process." There was a grimace. "To see that sort of power in action...I'd imagine it would break some men." Not to mention that it was easier to keep that sort of secret the fewer people who saw the thing in action. But it was always wise to toe the party line, so to speak...one never knew who might be listening.

"That's the thing, Torin," the coach began his politically safe response, "I have not been able to secure a therapist or anyone I could send over to better help the Tributes in that transition stage from recently departed to resurrected. If I'm unable to see the process...I need to see a freshly revived body."
Callous? Maybe, but the trauma was there.

A disturbing comparison but apt. Torin would hear no malice in Leonidas' words, more like concerns. Dolls tend to break and be tossed aside, but these were people.

"Whatever the gamemakers have planned...I'm hoping Felicity and the Norse gods are trying their best."
He will let Loki know exactly what he thought of in this arena.

"Thor is racking up the kills, Felicity is ruthless, I appreciate that, but Loki...he's unreadable in many levels and it's frustrating."
The more he thought about it, the more the Coach's remarks sank into his mind.

"Between the three of them, we should have a good showing of things." Torin didn't think he'd ever get used to having so many Tributes there...
no subject
Sorry Torin, but he's more than a little worried about the workload on you. "And the others? Biding their time until the winter clears?"

And he'd have to take such a training himself. His expertise was in combat but he'd been looking into how to best improve them. "They're lucky they have you as a mentor."
no subject
Torin had to smile at that. "You're too kind--I'm just doing what anyone in my position would. It's a big responsibility."
no subject
Maybe a little callous but Torin had to cut himself some slack in all this and partake in the benefits of his decisions, in his support, and his endeavor.

His own shortcomings were starting to weigh on Leo, more so when he saw a Tribute fall and join the ranks in the Death list. At least District 2 has hold out more than the others. "District 11 could be our competition soon enough."
no subject
"That's a possibility," Torin agreed. "Strange, how these things change."

"How is your niece adjusting to this new life?" A little awkward but it was a less gory subject.
no subject
He had no problems with an awkward change of subject if it wasn't quite so gory. "She's adjusting well, I think. Hasn't made herself sick on the food again."
