Drinking cinnamon coffee, or decaffeinated tea.
WHO | Clara and OPEN
WHAT | The first meeting of Clara's breakfast club.
WHEN | Present time.
WHERE | District 10's suite
WARNINGS/NOTES | None right now, will add any if they crop up!
Clara's been meaning to do this for a couple months now, round up her collective of friends/various adopted kids/Districtmates and have breakfast. After waking up far earlier than she has in weeks and shooing a couple Avoxes out of the kitchen, she sets to work, getting the prep stuff out of the way and organizing all the various ingredients on the counter so she can knock out each dish as she goes.
Depending on when they wake up, residents of 10 will most likely smell something cooking, whether it be hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, a variety of breakfast meats, or other breakfast staples. The sight that will meet anyone who comes into the kitchen is one of organized chaos (that will most likely devolve into something much more unorganized as more people join in the food-fray).

"It's traditional for breakfast." Clem fills Initiate in. "I don't know about anything else. They're the best."
No one notice her sneak a few chocolate chips directly into her mouth, okay.

"She's right. Pancakes and sausage or bacon is one of the most traditional American breakfasts out there. And learning how to cook for yourself's like a right of passage." Not that she's going to mention that some people don't bother learning how for whatever reason because he doesn't need to know that part.
And she casually ignores the fact that Clem's snacking on their ingredients and the Initiate's overloading his batter with add ins and pops a few chocolate chips in her mouth before hovering her hand over the heating griddle. "So, you guys ready to cook them," she asks, shooting both of them a smile.

He catches the way both Clementine and Clara sneak their sweets. He smiles to himself, pleased to be among good company.
He looks at the gooey berry and chocolate mess up in his bowl and lifts a brow at Clara. "Dunno, sister. ARE WE?" But he hops off the counter to be getting closer at to it all.

She looks at Clara and nods, rocking back on her heels and then up onto her toes to see better. "Let's do it."
no subject
Her grin widens as she steps aside to give them full access to the griddle. "You're both going to need to pour some, not all, of the batter on the griddle and let it cook for a couple minutes."
no subject
He looks curious at Clara. "Difference? LIKE WHAT?" He couldn't exactly control temperature of fire. Though he could bet there was a psionic troll somewhere what could. Like that damn one what burned his shoulder back then, maybe...
He's not so distracted he doesn't get up in there with following command. He stares down and the griddle, his own bowl, then starts to pour, glancing back at to see if he's doing it right until he gets sign to stop.

"There are some things that taste alright burnt," she chimes in as she places the squat stool on the ground so Clementine can grab it if she needs to. "But pancakes aren't one of them. You want them to be golden brown." She stands behind Clem, watching Initiate's progress.
no subject
"No shit? YOU DON'T THINK ASH TASTES GOT A GOOD FLAVOR AT TO IT?" Of course not. It was awful. He didn't know pancake but he could fend for himself otherwise! You just couldn't hunt no pancake...
Golden brown, alright. He nods, then tries to look for a way to see the other side without sticking his hand in like a dull pan. Okay. What did Sam use. "Uh... you got one of them... it's like... a fuckin... uh. IT'S FLAT. It's got a handle?"

She chuckles when Initiate casts about, before reaching for a pot of kitchen utensils. "You mean a spatula." she pulls it out and holds it out to him to take.
no subject
She can't help but let out a laugh at Initiate's befuddlement, but has the good graces to try to hold it back. "I'm going to have to go over cooking utensils with you at some point."

He flips them pancakes over and is pleased to find it ain't too bad looking underneath. Maybe not perfectly golden but not yet charred to a crisp.
His ears fold in some embarrassment, that he ain't yet know these things so as to require showing. But he doesn't protest.
