Who| Sam Wilson and YOU! All of you!
What| Sleep issues and trying to settle post-arena
Where| Various spots in the Tribute Tower/over the Capitol
When| After the end of the arena and through the first week after, mostly before Panem Nightly
Warnings/Notes| Prompts for specific locations under the cut! Nightmare and PTSD-talk likely, probably mentions of violence and death

Late Nights in District 5
It’s probably not a secret that Sam hasn’t slept much since getting back from the arena, the same way that he can pick up the signs that he’s not the only one with sleeping problems in District Five. Some nights, he doesn’t even try - he either doesn’t return back to the floor at all, or when he does, he heads straight for the couch or the kitchen.

The nights he is there, he can be found in the common areas at all hours of the night, watching bad Capitol TV with the volume on low, in the kitchen making snacks, or even occasionally catching a few minutes of sleep on the couch before he jerks awake again.

In the Training Center
He’d been in the training room a lot before the arena, sure, but it’s even worse now. Whenever he has downtime that he can’t fill up by something else, Sam ends up here, going through a workout, practicing with whatever weapons are available, or just attacking the punching bags.

When he’s alone, he goes all out, sets up a playlist full of fast-paced, heavy workout songs and just loses himself in them.

When there’s other people there, though, he goes slower, reduces the pace so he can maintain a conversation, if they’re the type that will put up with him when he attempts to strike up one.

Out and About in the Capitol
Now that the curfew’s gone, most mornings he goes outside for his run. He hasn’t found a path he likes enough yet to make it a regular one, so he alternates routes through the parks and on the sidewalks.

When he’s done, sometimes he lingers in the Capitol, going shopping or just wandering around to get a better feel for the city, keeping an eye out for anyone he knows. Or anyone who looks like they might be a Tribute, instead of another… interestingly dressed Capitol citizen.

For Close CR
Some nights, he just can’t stand the thought of being alone. All right, a lot of nights, and he’s not too proud to seek out company when he needs someone else’s presence to pull him out of the thoughts that get stuck in his head.

Even if he does feel a little guilty at the late hour, but he figures they could tell him to get lost if they actually are sleeping, and don’t want to be disturbed.

So he when he can’t sleep, he makes his way to rooms that aren’t his, knocks quiet but firm on the doors of the people he considers himself lucky to call his friends.

"If you're thinking like that, imagine how geniuses who can't sleep feel about that question."

It's a question Tony got a lot until he started avoiding the kind of people who would ask that question when he was obviously thinking through something.

"As for my hours. Well." He just gestures to the room and how he's the only one in district 12 in it, apart from an avox in the corner, who Tony makes a point of not giving any attention to. "I don't technically keep hours, I sleep when I get too tired or when Steve stands over me asking how many hours I've been awake."

Even before their fake relationship that was something Steve did a lot here.

"A lot of people, apparently. Still not entirely sure why, when ever I started to explain as a kid eyes usually glazed over shortly after I started."

Tony puts down the tablet, and leans forward on the couch for a moment.

"I think for a guy who only needs to sleep maybe 4 hours a night still qualifies as that mother-hen. Poker?" Tony pushes himself up as he appears to have changed the subject, making the connection that if Sam didn't have a specific reason to come see him, he came because he needed the company, and it had been a while since Tony had played cards with anyone, so he moves across the room pulling open a drawer then waggles a deck at the once-paratrooper

"It's a refreshing change from Pepper and J.A.R.V.I.S at least."

Tony looks around the room when the subject of what they're playing for comes up, Tony spies a bowl of cherries on the buffet and picks them up, and then picks up a bowl of grapes, and handing them to Sam when he comes back to the couch.

"Playing for fruit. Seeing as money here is technically pointless. And if feels like we're being inclusive to other ways to gamble."

"Carrots doesn't sound nearly as fun."

He smirks and starts shuffling the cards in a very practiced and almost fancy manner before dealing the cards.

"That depends, how often did your unit end up spending time in Vegas?"

"Yeah, sure you weren't, Bilko. I believe you."

Once he's finished dealing out their cards he sets up the pocket cards and waits for Sam to throw in his initial bet.

"I want to say something about the upper limits of the drinking ability of flyboys. But I've seen Rhodie in action."

He sounds distracted as he looks at his cards and sorts them in a way that will please him. Trying not to think about how easy it is to talk about Rhodie like he's away on base or in the field rather than in a different dimension.

Tony gives him a playful look, that at least if they were back in their world would mean that Tony wouldn't spread a word of it. Here however while it means the same the impact is hardly as meaningful.

He does raise the eyebrow at the respect in the man's voice for Rhodie. Tony almost wishes the man in question was here so he could tease him about it.

"Sounds like someone wants to write a fan letter. Start it with 'Dear cuddle-bear' He likes it when you act familiar."

So instead he settles on teasing Sam instead.

"I look forward to the phone call with the pained sigh that sounds like my name." He smirks, as he puts in his own cherries, swapping two cards out for two more his face giving away nothing.

"Raising? Really, he deserves the fan mail." Tony adds almost as an after thought.
