It's high time that someone threw a really great party in this town.

Oceana's been laying low, working on costumes for the upcoming Crowning and watching her babies kick ass in the Arena, but after a while she gets an itch. An itch to invite hundreds of strangers to her penthouse apartment, dress up in her most sickening clothes, and let the booze pour. So that's exactly what she does. Invitations are sent out, crates of liquor are ordered, food is catered in, and the lights are dimmed way down low.

Her apartment is spacious, minimally decorated because it looks fucking cool and she's barely around anyway, and full of dark corners. The living room has a huge table full of finger foods along one wall, a champagne fountain, and a full bar with virtually endless liquor. The music is loud as hell, and the drag queen has even gone to the trouble of paying people to come early and dance, so that the dance floor is never empty.

The hostess herself will be mingling all evening; the glass of vodka in her hand is never empty, and always garnished with at least six olives. She may not be the classiest bitch in the capitol, but it's apparent by looking around that she knows how to throw a killer soirée.

Cassandra followed his gaze, expression not shifting- though this may possibly be due to the fact displeased to enraged was already the default at the moment. Ah. The drunkard.

"Explain this to me."

Dorian breathed out hard, through his nose. "That man, that I was with earlier, is my new Escort. He has - to put it mildy - slightly tyrannical methods. But--" And here he looked straight at her, his expression hard and unwavering.

"He is my problem and I can handle him. Once I am able to return to our usual time, I will resume our lessons. But I will continue to work on what I've been taught as I can."

"No...you are correct. Despite reputation, I am aware that my putting the man's head through a glass window, while satisfactory, would do more harm than good. For now."

And, to be honest, were she to start down that course of action this evening, well over 3/4s of the party would end up similarly skewered before she felt any true satisfaction. And though she did not truly fear for herself, Cassandra understood the Capitol sense of 'justice.' She could not in good conscious take an action she knew another would be punished for in her stead, not one so petty as this, at any rate.

Still, her gaze lingered for Jason a moment, memorizing the face of the escort. For future reference. Then she could only give a small shake of her head and, somewhat mollified with his excuse and the earnestness of his demand to tend to it personally, leaned against the railing to look out over the strange city before them.

"We cannot, however, afford to simply lose track of one another. We no longer have a spymaster to keep us," or her. Leliana likely did not share the daily gossip of Skyhold outside the War Chamber, "informed. When you are detoured or a new development arises, I expect you to be clever enough to find some way to inform me."

"Though I would pay a few royals to see it anyway," Dorian said, giving her a wry, if slightly forced, smile.

He sighed as she spoke, and followed her gaze, though his looked up to the sky - utterly starless, thanks to the lights below.

"My apologies. To be honest, I was expecting to have it dealt with by now, but it seems things aren't quite as easy when you can't simply light all your problems on fire."

He gets a very dry, almost snorted laugh for that. Overseeing Templar's and preventing abuse of magical power was, indeed, looking like a preferable situation than living in a world without them.

"Though that solution has also, historically, led to additional complications."

She was going to leave the party very shortly, her missions complete. Both finding Dorian and being 'seen' by the people, for however brief a period. Having not yet been an arena herself, her apparent fame was relatively low, but there were a few too many interesting in scoping out the talent beforehand for her comfort. But there was one last point to impress.

"I only ask you keep in mind people tend to vanish here, if reports from other tributes are to be believed. Given this, a single missed practice is a cause for concern. I would rather know should such occur to a member of the Inquisition rather than wonder. And, from this period forward, I promise a pleasant chat will not be the extent of my displeasure for causing unwarranted concern."

He smiled at her then - an honest smile, amused and fond.

"It is so nice to hear how much you care about me, Seeker," teasing gently. "But I will do as you ask, if only in order to save you any undue worry."

"My concerns would be equally put to rest with confirmation of your death. Let us not being the wedding preparations just yet, Lord Pavus."

The anger is not fully gone from her voice, Cassandra is not entirely sure it will ever be within this place, but there's no edge directed at him. She did not have to be close friends to the extent the Inquisitor had seemed to be with each member of the Circle to care in her way. She could protect precious little in this world, command less, but she could at least attempt to see the few she knew survived longer than they may have without her present. It was hardly the grand meaning she was accustomed to having, but for the moment it was a first step on the grand plan of liberation.

He snorts, not because he thinks she's joking, but because he knows very well that she is not.

"I am heartbroken," he says, smiling. "If it's all the same, that is the one confirmation I would very much like to avoid. I'd rather keep you worried forever than ease your fears in that manner."

"Such selfish desires."

She stood from the rail, giving a small nod to signify it time for her to depart. While the familiar back and forth was something of a balm for the soul, there were few places, even in this wretched excuse for a world, she would rather not be than at this event.

"Be careful, Dorian."

He bowed his head graciously. "I will endeavor to be as careful as possible," He said, while both of them knew that wasn't particularly careful at all.

"Enjoy your evening," he added, more than a little ironically.
