Twenty five, don't recall a time I felt this alive (open)
Who| MCU!Bucky Barnes and YOU
What| Bucky's back in the Capitol and dealing with things
Where| Anywhere around the Tribute Center, specify the location of your choice
When| After arena 12 goes boom
Warnings/Notes| The usual with this guy
Waking up was easier this time.
Maybe it's because he'd accepted and waited for death to come rather than fighting against it as he had before, with the same resignation and understanding of what was going to happen that had made it easier to go into the ice when his missions were done. He can count it as a bonus that waking up in a warm bed was far more pleasant than from the cryostasis tank.
Bucky gets up calmly but still with the feeling something is wrong, more than just how weak his limbs feel again after living a month with his full strength back. A feeling that persists as he heads for the shower first, then irritably shaves off the beard he always wakes up with and is coming to loathe, discovering at the same time that the brand has now gone from his cheek. Venturing into the kitchen area yields leftover casserole from the fridge which he wolfs down quickly before heading out of District 1 with Toro the tribble safely in his pocket. He needs to see his friends, check for himself that they're still here and make sure no more of them have vanished like the first Widow did.
He goes down to District 9 first, then down to the common area to start working his way upwards, choosing to take the stairs rather than the elevator as he moves through the training and district levels before finally emerging up onto the roof. There he habitually heads for his favourite spot to try and let the cold winter air blow out the still persistent cobwebs in his head.

"Ain't seen him out yet, naw. BUT HE'S HERE. They'd have cleared out his room. JUST MISSED HIM IS ALL FOR ME. We share district."
Not as though that would've kept him from looking through the other districts for empty rooms. He's lost so many that way, with nothing but empty to let him know they're gone, giving way to being emptier. Districts were hardly with heed by him otherwise.

Bucky remembers that Sam had been afraid, he'd been facing death for the first time and Bucky had tried to reassure him he would wake up again. He wouldn't want to have been made out to be a liar by the Capitol.
He's glad that he hasn't lost another friend. Which reminds him...
"Do you know Thor?"
no subject
He'd run into Thor too, giving less reassurance so much as a faint plea. One he knew couldn't truly be heeded by will and choice alone. They needed luck, and Thor, apparently, hadn't had it.
His brow furrows and his eyes close. "I DO," He answers. Thor was a soldier, like he and Bucky. This was a war. Natural courses being... "He helped me when at I was tongue cut. MADE ASSISTING DONE BY THIS MOTHERFUCKER TIMES SEVERAL. He's my friend."
No past tense. Thor could've been Avoxed. That wasn't meaning dead. They didn't know yet.
no subject
Bruce had asked him to try and look for Thor, Darcy had been in tears over it. His own alarm would have been incentive enough without those people also being disturbed by the news.
Thor could be gone or he could be being tortured, Avox'd, anything.
no subject
Nothing. There'd been no sign of Thor up at all. It was worrying. He half hoped Capitol might just come out with it already, terrible or not, so that he can stop wondering. But that thought passes and everytime it leaves him feeling ill.
"THEY'D TAKE HIS THINGS IF HE WAS GONE OR..." He frowns, not quite able to get the word out in that phrasing. Quieter, he adds, "I know the way down at to Avox quarters, but I ain't yet made myself to check."
no subject
He needs to go and check Thor's quarters if he can. It shouldn't be too hard to get into District 2, Jet lives there as well, it's not amiss for Bucky to be visiting even if Thor is gone. He could also ask his friend there if he knew anything as well.
Initiate has his interest at the Avox quarters. If Thor is still here but being punished then that's a natural place for him to end up. Bucky speaks quietly in reply, "Tributes aren't supposed to go there, are they?" not that it would stop him entirely but it would prompt more caution in his approach. He also would prefer Initiate not get himself into a dangerous position either.

"THERE'S A DOOR ON DOWNWAYS. Big enough at for their vehicular storage machines. MOTHERFUCKERS ONLY GET UP IN THAT BY DELIVERY OR RETRIEVAL. Deliverance on of goods and new motherfucking servants. RETRIEVAL UP ON THEM WHAT NEED RECONDITIONING OR RELOCATION." That would be an issue. Lot of Avoxes got being rented. He was conditioned to serve multiple masters. If Thor elsewhere, or even just not finished his conditioning, they'd still be left up in the dark.
"There be risk without sure knowing, but no one what's there otherwise will be about disclosures done by our presence."
no subject
He's memorising this information though, filing it away to be used, or not used, later on. Bucky's confident in himself and in Initiate as well if the troll believes they could sneak down into the Avox quarters. They would certainly need to move quickly to avoid any trouble.
"Depending on what I find I may ask for your help." Avoxes were hired out, he hadn't exactly been aware of that and now he is it adds a new tangled problem to the issue. He's irritated by it, at the Capitol, at Thor for doing whatever it was he had attempted to do. Bucky knew all about cages and how to live in them but that wasn't true for everyone, it hadn't been true for Thor, evidently.
He'd check the room first, then decide if it was worth the risk going down depending on what he found. Just being able to report back that Thor wasn't gone in entirety would be something though.

He prays that Thor's things are all still there.
The weight doesn't lift. It holds him down and grinds his bones. Someone should know. He owes that to him, when all they was friends, right? "I, um..." He rubs at his arm, looking down. "WHEN WE WAS IN THE ARENA, I HAD MY POWER. Chucklevoodoo, all my knowing of fear. IT LETS AT ME TO FEEL WHAT OTHERS BE FEELING AT, SEE UPON THEIR WOES MOST DIRE." He's seen a lot of fear, been exposed to it in oceans worth. But he still worries for saying what he does.
"I saw and felt what things as he was hiding. DIDN'T KNOW CERTAIN. But I didn't think to..." He didn't stop him. He didn't try, not like he had with Signless, and Courfeyrac. And now this. "I'M SORRY."
no subject
He tries to understand the explanation and he does, for the most part. A power that allows him to know fear, the things that people are afraid of, he thinks that's what he means. Almost instantly a wave of foreboding rises up inside Bucky as he focuses his gaze up at Initiate's face.
"I don't understand..." he says, voicing dropping lower, "Thor, you could tell what he was going to do?"
no subject
"SAW FIRE. Saw what all would happen if at it went wrong. DON'T THINK IT'D HAVE BEEN QUITE SO CLEAN AS IT BEING WAS." He's a troll, not exactly sensitive to the descriptors of death and how dying in explosion wouldn't be seen as 'clean' by others. That, and he's died similarly before, making him more casual about in relativity.
"Made him promise a return, I all did." Promises what couldn't necessarily be kept, but it had seemed right at the time.
no subject
"It's not your fault. He did what he did." he says, the anger at Thor for not cluing the rest of them into the plan is there. Did he think they would try to stop him? Bucky wouldn't but perhaps Steve or Bruce or someone else might have. "He made the choice."
To what end that choice led had yet to be seen.
no subject
Some part snaps that he could've stopped him. He could've tried to convince otherwise. But he knows that's not true. Not if his mind was already made. He couldn't have stopped him no more than he could've stopped Signless from walking to the jut and burning for it.
He nods, dropping his eyes down.
It's after a pause, he says, "JUST NEEDS TO COME BACK. So long as he does, we can deal with different." They would know.
no subject
"I'll see you soon." he steps away from the friends side, heading for the elevator to go and face the truth of Thor's fate.
