Mission: Capitol Liberation

Who| Bucky Barnes, Enjolras, Joan Watson, Punchy, & Marius Pontmercy.
What| Liberation of the idiots.
Where| The Tribute Center
When| January 1st
Warnings/Notes| N/A

This leg of the mission would require more stealth and discretion than anything else. The team would go into the Capitol, making use of the smuggling method the rebels had established and make their way into the Tribute Center. Bucky, Enjolras, and Joan would be provided with elaborate disguises to aid in their infiltration if necessary, otherwise they would be very much on their own. The hovercraft couldn't wait around for them and they would have no back up in case something went wrong.

It wasn't until they were nearly to the Capitol that their targets were revealed. Punchy and Marius. Wait... Punchy and Marius?

Doubts as to their suitability as soldiers aside, the trio's mission was clear. They had to be in and out of there and at the rendezvous point before 2300. It was 0700 when they were dropped off. Plenty of time, right? Right?

Bucky caught the subtle changes, but it doesn't make him loosen up at all. As far as he was concerned, he might still need to punch Heinrich in the face and slip out into the crowd so no danger came to their mission.

"No offense, but you're not giving me trustworthy vibes right now, so I have no reason to tell you anything."

But he was still blocking Bucky from sight and had lowered his voice some, so there was something to that, at least.

"It involves District 13. That's where I'm from." It was dangerous to basically admit he was a rebel outright like that, but the fact Heinrich was too was barely a secret and that much Bucky did trust. "So you can either help me or hurt a cause I know you support."

That admission again changes Albert's demeanor, though he's careful that his stance changes little other than a relaxing of his shoulders. He stares at Bucky's face again for a moment, then exhales slowly, his voice barely carrying even between the two of them. "We can't talk here, but just across the street there's a blind spot, if it won't interfere with your mission."

He needs to talk to this man more than in the lobby like this will allow, but if Bucky shrugs him off this time, he'll understand. Still, there's important information to be shared and a very specific request he has to ask.

Bucky's hesitant and he knows it shows on his face. It could be dangerous to leave like that, especially now that he'd nearly made himself a spectacle in the middle of the commons. Plus, rumors bred faster than rabbits in the capitol and someone might think to start a buzz over seeing a popular tribute vanish into the night with someone not immediately recognizable.

But, then again, that might already happen considering they'd shoved themselves away into some corner. Being across the street would be no different than hanging around outside.

Bucky replaced the mask and his hat and stood with a nod to Albert. At least Bucky knew he wasn't lying about the blind spot. "You have ten minutes at the most."

Out they go. There's little time for stealth, but Albert at least has the cover of a pack of cigarettes and the general knowledge that he goes out across the street to smoke. Albert's made a habit of it, so it's not strange to see him there talking to someone or alone, nothing suspicious.

He leans against the wall and offers Bucky a cigarette, getting down to brass tacks immediately while doing so. They don't have much time, he's not going to waste it. "Information, materials, rescue, or a strike against the Capitol?"

Bucky turned down the offer and kept himself with his back towards everyone else. He couldn't see the front of the tribute tower like that, but he'd know if something happened, either through transmission or through the commotion. Luckily, he trusted Joan and Enjolras to do their parts well.

"Rescue. Anything else we can manage is bonus. What do you want, Heinrich?" It had to be something otherwise he wouldn't have been brought into a blind spot to talk.

"I want you to rescue my husband." No point in beating around the bush any longer, Bucky already knows there's a point to this. Albert's not the most stealthy physically or conversationally. "Jet Link. He's a tribute for District 2. I don't want him to be here in the Capitol in danger any longer and I'm willing to do whatever's needed by 13 to extricate him."

He takes a long drag of his cigarette and puffs out the smoke in a small stream between his teeth and lips. "Whatever you need in exchange, I'll do."
hollowvictor: (Are you fucking serious?)

He'd be lying if he said he was surprised by the request, it was a very normal thing to want your loved ones out of danger, he could understand that well enough, but he also had a job to do and a cause to think about.

He very nearly said no right out, but held his tongue when he remembered names on a list and notes left next to them. Still, he had to check to make sure, otherwise this might not work in 13's favor after all. He purposefully took on a considering look, as though seriously considering the offer.

"What was it you did before here? You were...in a group or something, right? What did you do, what was your role?"
silberfuchs: (suspicious)

[personal profile] silberfuchs 2015-02-23 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Me personally? Tactical and heavy weapons." He understands Bucky's meaning, if not his intent. "I'll be willing to work with you readily if you do this for me. It's my only condition."

And he considers it a fair one, considering the score of other people he would love to see rescued. Terezi, Delilah, Felicity, so many others who don't deserve this nightmare. Children, all of the children. It cuts at him internally to not ask for them at all, but...

Love gives him a certain priority structure, and Jet is at the top of it.

So he was remembering correctly. Albert Heinrich was one of those listed as 'potential tactical support.' They needed that. Jet Link or Heinrich or whatever was not on that list as far as he could remember. But maybe there was a chance he could swing this in Albert's favor after all, but he needed more information.

"I think it's a fair offer. But I need a little more. What about your husband, what was his role?"
silberfuchs: (morose)

[personal profile] silberfuchs 2015-02-28 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not an offer, it's a condition." He needs to make that perfectly clear. 13 doesn't have the same leverage as the Capitol has; if they don't do as he asks, he'll be much harder to work with.

"He was reconnaissance and point-man. We both have decades of field experience, especially in guerrilla warfare, working either alone or with a team."
hollowvictor: (Look down)

[personal profile] hollowvictor 2015-02-28 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Or not. He'd have to do his own research on the subject, but it sounded like Albert's husband was low priority, another soldier. Perhaps he'd be worth grabbing at a later date, but one of the few they would be able to grab next? Unlikely.

Still...Bucky could see a political moment when presented with it and he needed to think of District 13 and the rebellion, that was what was important here.

"Thank you. Alright, Heinrich, a condition. I'll put word to those who make the calls and see that your condition is met." For now, he still had a mission to ensure succeeded or he wouldn't be talking to anyone but Peacekeepers in the near future. "Was that all you wanted from me?"
silberfuchs: (delicious cancer)

[personal profile] silberfuchs 2015-02-28 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Not really. He also wanted information, assurances, wanted to know that they are really on the same side here, but is it all he needed? Then yes. He shouldn't keep Bucky any longer from whatever mission he's here to complete. Time will tell what that entails, and perhaps it will answer some of Albert's questions regardless.

"Yes. Go on. I'll stay out here a bit longer to allay any suspicion that I wanted more than a cigarette and a friendly chat." He blows some of the nicotine through his teeth, hardly at ease but at least feeling as if there's some progress to be made.

He nodded and offered his hand, more for anyone potentially watching than to actually say good-bye. "A pleasure meeting you, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of each other soon."

Soon enough, at least, though who knew how that meeting might go depending on how the extraction went. But that was for another time. With a tip of his hat, he turned and wandered back into the Tribute Tower as though simply a Capitolite fishing for the attentions of any tribute he could.
