Who| Skye and Steve Rogers
What| Time to put a name to the face of that jackass who led an alien invasion of New York.
Where| The Speakeasy
When| The day after Loki's arrival.
Warnings/Notes| Discussion of messy death, mass murder, spoilers for Cap 2 and season 1 of Agents of SHIELD.

When she sees the video post on the network the recognition of the face hits her like a cold punch in the stomach. Because she's pretty sure there's not a single living soul on the planet Earth who wouldn't recognize the face of the jackass who shattered their reality by invading New York City with an alien army and causing hundreds of casualties in the process.

That was a turning point, for Skye. For their entire world. That was when they realized how vast the universe really was, and how insignificant they all were in the scope of it.

Coulson never outright said that this Loki guy is the one who killed him, but of the four confirmed Asgardians she knows have visited her planet, it's not hard to put the pieces together. Of course, there could be other variables in play. He could have had other Asgardians who fought for him, who did his dirty work, for instance; Skye's not arrogant enough to assume her assumptions are right, but she's fairly confident they are.

Someone she cares about was hurt, and she needs the truth.

Thor, Romanoff, Stark--she could go to any of them to ask, but it's Rogers that Skye decides to approach. She slips a crumpled-up note into his pocket when she passes him in the Training Center and hopes he checks his pockets before tossing his clothes in the laundry pile. Because otherwise she's going to going to be waiting in a corner of the Speakeasy by herself, feeling very, very awkward.

Steve doesn't keep her waiting long, even with the risks of who the note came from and why, he rather chance it than play it safe. Honestly, the fact she slipped him the note without him noticing is what catches his attention and curiosity. That's a skill few have, so at the very least, he wants to know who did it. And why.

Upon spotting her, he remembers crossing paths with her shortly - the girl in a bring dress - but beyond that, well she and James worked together, that's pretty much the most he knows.

Leaves the question of why she slipped him the note hanging heavy in his mind.

"If I may?" He waits only a second before taking the seat across from her, setting his bag besides him. "You're quite the pickpocket," he means it as a compliment.
