Mini-Arena Reaping

At approximately 5pm Thursday, all of the Tributes were notified that their presence would be required at a mandatory meeting in the grand foyer of the Tribute Center. It was to be a formal occasion, and all of the stylists were instructed to dress their Tributes in their autumn best. At 8pm, Peacekeepers arrived at each floor to escort the Tributes down to the foyer, which had been decorated in a playful, nostalgic manner. The Tributes were seated at one of twelve large, numbered tables, though they were told they could mingle, dance, or help themselves to as much punch as they'd like. By all appearances, this little fete was nothing more than a typical, if somewhat bizarre Capitol celebration.

Gary obediently holds still and lets Milla fuss at his suit, but he doesn't have to be happy about it.

"What's wrong with my suit? What?" The teen cranes his neck to look at where Milla is smoothing out the offending wrinkles, crinkling his nose. "Nitou didn't get mayo on it, did he?"

"Thankfully no- it's just a bit rumpled in places." Milla attributes that to Gary being... Gary. A teenager with a lot of energy and little concern for his very bright red suit. "You want to be looking your best darling, rumples simply won't do."

When she's satisfied Milla steps back, and whatever wrinkles were there are smoothed back out.

"But the suit's made for rumples," Gary whines. He has at this point lost his patience--inevitable, really--and starts squirming, likely drawing this whole process out much longer than it needs to be before Milla lets him go. "It's got, like, the whole rumply bit in the front and everything."

"The rumples shouldn't be everywhere, dear." The whining just earns a more motherly tone from Milla as she rests a hand on her hip. "Certain area's yes, but extending it past that makes it go from chic to messy looking."

"Well, yeah--isn't that the point?" Gary shrugs and flashes a lopsided grin, quickly smoothing back his heavily-gelled hair. "I'm going for the whole 'rebel without a cause' look. Fancy, fashionable, but can't be held down by society's iron fist."

Milla for her part at least tamps down her urge to fuss at his hair too. She really needs to have a word with their stylist in the future about some of the choices being made. "You want the flash in the front and keep it the focal point, dear." She states simply back with a shake of her head. "You look dashing none the less though."

Unfortunately, a decent amount of Gary's stylistic choices are, indeed, his own--the Capitol's naturally flamboyant manners of dress only seem to have exacerbated a preexisting problem. It's probably for the best that Milla remain under the impression that it's all their stylist's fault, for her sanity.

"I know," he says, beaming. This is an answer to Milla's second point, but it can be easily interpreted as an answer to both if it makes her feel better. "Not like you need any flash or rumples to look pretty fine, darling."
