Mini-Arena Reaping

At approximately 5pm Thursday, all of the Tributes were notified that their presence would be required at a mandatory meeting in the grand foyer of the Tribute Center. It was to be a formal occasion, and all of the stylists were instructed to dress their Tributes in their autumn best. At 8pm, Peacekeepers arrived at each floor to escort the Tributes down to the foyer, which had been decorated in a playful, nostalgic manner. The Tributes were seated at one of twelve large, numbered tables, though they were told they could mingle, dance, or help themselves to as much punch as they'd like. By all appearances, this little fete was nothing more than a typical, if somewhat bizarre Capitol celebration.

"I will be killing them all." Pruna pokes her in the side and lies down as well, the beds are very much not big enough for two and it's probably quite a precarious balancing act.

"And there do be being people that do be liking you, they will be helping you too. We will no be letting them be winning." This part was said in a whisper, directly into Sandy's ear, the reason for the closeness.

It was enough to bring a smile to her lips.

"Just remember, killing people may get us tickets, but the first one across the finish line is the real winner. If we keep our eye on the prize maybe it'll be one of us getting there first."

Sandy was optimistic sure, but she wasn't stupid. There was no way the Capitol would let her cross the finish line in this arena. They'd made that fact plain as day.

But maybe this was her chance to get Pruna out. She owed the girl so much already. More then any birthday cake could cover.

"So we keep moving as much as we can. If we can hurt or kill people quickly great but we can't fall behind."

Pruna nodded, they had to get over the finish line, and keep up. "We can be doing that, you do be being the best runner I do be knowing."

The very best and there was no way Pruna would leave her behind, and there was no way she would let anyone hurt her. Including the Capitol, they would pay for this.

Sandy's smile beamed in the darkness, Pruna's confidence was infectious.

So what if the Capitol wanted to show her just how pointless they believed it was for her to stand up to them?

So what if she was public enemy number one for a night?

She had allies. She had skills.

She was faster then fast and wanted it more.

Taking Pruna's hand she gave it a squeeze.

"And you're the best friend I do be knowing."

"You do be being the best friend also, and lots of people do be liking you so do no be worrying." Enough allies, a good enough show and the Capitol would bring her back, they would have to. It was a flimsy plan, but it was the best they had and Pruna trusted Initiate.

"Be sleeping now, you will be needing your rest."

Sandy nodded and closed her eyes. She would have nightmares of course, but with Pruna around they wouldn't be so bad.

"You too. No one's gonna hurt us tonight so we might as well make sure we've got plenty of energy for tomorrow."

At least if the other Mini arenas were any indication, it would be over faster then they were used to.
