[OPEN]

Who| Sam Wilson + open!
What| Trying to figure out wtf is going on after just arriving
Where| Around the Training Center
When| After the arena
Warnings| none yet!

None of this was what Sam'd expected when he woke up on that cot, and was all but dragged out of the room by a group of guards. Not that he had all that much experience with kidnapping or being taken prisoner, but he was pretty sure they didn't normally include a kickass suite and free run of not only pretty much the whole building, but whatever city they were in. And he was definitely sure prisoners usually didn't get handed a map of the damn place and a credit card.

It didn't make him feel at all better about being grabbed, of course. If anything, their determination in treating him like he was supposed to be some kind of honored guest was making him twitchy, almost as twitchy as being told he'd been picked up off the streets to fight to the death like some kind of gladiator.

...it's also making him wary about just how good their security has to be, if they're actually letting prisoners have free range like that. Not enough not to test it, but definitely wary. So he waits a little bit after the guards leave him alone, exploring the room and giving them long enough to actually get gone, if they're really going. Then he's out, intent on seeing just how much leeway he has, and if he can figure out where he really is.

District 5 Suite

His first stop is the rest of the suite they'd dropped him off in, of course. He lingers in the kitchen - not really for food, though he is kind of hungry. At the moment, he's not willing to risk eating anything that might be available, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to check it out.

Which is why he's opening cabinets and peering in the fridge, eyeing the kitchen knives he'd found and wondering if they'd do anything if he grabbed one to keep on him.

Training Center

He has to admit, the place that gives the building its name isn't bad. In fact, it's pretty damn good, if he'd had a place like this back home, he'd probably have been there every day. It makes sense, he guesses, to give them access to a place like this, if they're supposed to be gearing up to participate in a battle to the death. But it also means their captors are either stupid or really, really good, and he doubts it's the first.

Rooftop

By the time he makes it up to the top of the roof, he's feeling a little overwhelmed. He'd gone up to clear his head a little, get some air, but he's not up there long before he's wondering if it wasn't a bad idea. Just looking out towards the edge makes him miss his wings; he sure as hell could use them right about now.

He stays anyway, sitting on one of the benches to look up at the sky, and keep an eye out for any fellow prisoners - or any of their captors - that might be up there as well.

Roof? Roof.

While Sam sits to himself, Tony appears in the elevator. Even with lighting that's on the roof, Tony doesn't give him more than a passing glance to see that he's there before heading to his usual part of the railing for him to lean on.

Sam wasn't the only one missing the sky and the equipment that got him up there. And for the first time since arriving in the arena he doesn't have a drink up here with him. Though that was mostly the fault of the last arena. After a moment of contemplating the sky and how good it is to at least feel the wind on his face from the skyscrapers, he looks over his shoulder at the younger man on the bench.

"Going to take an educated guess, and say you're new here."

"Uh. 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days." He offers in a tone that sounds more like he's talking about how long he's been working on a project than it is how long he's been trapped as reality TV murder victim.

He turns himself right around to look at the other resting his elbows on the railing as he leans against it in practiced comfort.

"So, what would your Yelp rating be so far?"

There's a tilt to the head when the matter of Tony's security is brought up, then his eyebrows tilt up in just enough of a way to imply the idea was in fact kind of funny. But at least the call let Tony know that not only was he recognised but this guy could possibly even be from his world.

"Ah. I'm Iron Man? I am my security team. And, they look after Pepper now. Well, Happy does, same thing really."

He shakes his head a little.

"Even if I had one I don't think they could have done anything." There's a flicker of annoyance on his face, because as much as he hates being here and would like to get out, he has no idea how they brought him here and won't let him near anything that would give him the chance to figure it out for himself.

"I remember making sure DUM-E had a mop instead of a bucket to clean up the juice he spilt, then I'm being shoved in a room being told that I'm here to murder people and show a room full of uninteresting people my apparent skills."

He almost sounds bored as he offers up his last moments in the real world. But then again, scolding DUM-E for something was an incidental habit from just being around the stupid robot.

"I'd say nice to meet you. But really. What's nice about meeting a man that is being put into a box with orders to kill me?"

He knows himself well enough to know there's no way he's going to personally kill Sam, but then he still hasn't even unintentionally killed anyone yet, let alone intentionally. Sam however was the unknown variable, and why be subtle about feeling the guy out?

"Seems to be a running..." Tony raises an eyebrow when Sam brings up Cap. "Theme." There's a few moments when Tony looks him up and down, his eyes moving quick taking everything in.

"The stolen EXO-7."

While sure, Tony could say he was completely out of the weapons business, However. His own suits had more weapons than at least three small countries he can think of, and taking over maintenance of Rhodie's War Machine armour since everyone else ends up making it kind of evil, it wasn't exactly true as an all encompassing statement.

In saying that he still found ways to learn about the militaries more interesting developments, partially to see what they're building and how, and also to make sure they aren't enlisting someone as crazy as Vanko to shoot the place up. So it may not be all that too surprising that Tony knows about various exo-suit projects like the EXO-7 Falcon.

At least it would surprise no one who knew him.

"Yeah, the military have a habit of letting the better projects gather dust until they find a way to make something more weaponized."

He offers in a flippant tone. After all, after Rhodie took of with his Mk II armour they put half of Hammers arsenal into it. Something which still annoys him.

"Looks like you and Rogers had a hell of a time on those helicarriers. Must have been fun."

Tony had of course seen what the news stations were broadcasting, CCTV feeds, and Natasha's own summons. And with the few things he had heard from Steve he did have a better than average idea of what had happened.

But Sam looked like a guy who could tell an interesting story, so he wanted to see how he'd spin it.

"Considering I how new the whole Exo-suit project market is right now. I wouldn't be surprised you were the only one qualified." He pauses. "Which. You're welcome by the way."

Tony chuckles at Sam's description of what happened in washington. Yeah, he was going to like this guy.

"Say my name fast enough at a federal agent. They'll leave you alone fast enough. Well after insulting you probably. But they'll back off at least a little."

After all, Tony had some of the best lawyers in the world. Some of them were employed purely to create enough tape to keep people wound up so long that they either gave up or forgot why they were even coming after anyone connected with Stark Industries.

After all, that's why Maria Hill ended applying to work for him.

His grin keeps up as Sam admits to having to have at least some thanks for him. He waves a dismissive hand, because actual thanks can come later, well a later than involves Tony actually being able to see those wings up close.

"Well, you could have broken in sooner. But, well you still didn't know you could then. And I didn't know you, which would have made things awkward. If we ever get out of this, though. Feel free."

If Sam was someone Steve could trust enough to help him out like that, then really Sam was someone Tony should probably keep an eye on. It's always good to know which people to trust and Tony was quietly confident of anyone on Steve's list.

"You mean other than the adoring fans who cosplay like you and want you to do anything from sign something to ask you to be their baby daddy?"

His face is so straight it is verging on bored. Because yeah that's all happened to him and everything in between really. Oh the joys of being both a celebrity AND a superhero.

Tony lets out a good chuckle at that horrified look, knowing that really it was only a matter of time for Sam to get that attention, after all they were all slowly getting it. The only reason Tony got it all to this level was due to the fact he was already famous, along with being the most extroverted of the group, which meant a higher chance of being able to get close enough to him.

"Just remember, girls will be dressing up as you too. And they'll either be scary accurate, or it's going to be a female version of you and it's not always covering everything."

He takes a drink then adds.

"Also, don't expect them to be over 21 no matter how much they look it" Tony's had some very weird encounters with underage girls that he didn't at all initiate. Not now he's with Pepper anyway.

"Really it's equal parts fun and weird."

"A warning from me is better than a warning from someone with a badge." He just smirks.

At least on the plus side, Tony's never really had to be too concerned about underage girls coming at him in slutty costumes, mostly because the over age girls are better at getting closer, that and he still does have some security measures set up at the tower.

"You're welcome, because you're going to be in for an interesting time."
arrogantalloy: (A: 028 I'm onto you you know)

[personal profile] arrogantalloy 2014-11-03 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
At the question Tony doesn't even have to pause to think about it one bit.

"The location is new."

Because really the interviews are almost exactly the same, 'we saw you shake hands with (person) does this mean there's a new (Relationship/business venture on the horizon)?' 'Mr Stark, what do you think of this/that/the next thing?' 'What caused you to be drunk and naked on YouTube this time?'

Really after about 30 odd years of being harassed by the press there's no weird questions anymore.

Tony smiles right back.

"Just remember, confidence, and try to steer the interviews as much as you can. It's harder for them to attempt to trip you up on something. And it was good to meet the wings behind the star too."
