Not at home, but obviously this doesn't matter here (or at home, for that matter). "They're giving me drinks, right?" he laughs, making a wide, sweeping gesture with his hands. A bit of mysterious blue beverage sloshes dangerously at the edges of his glass. "People haven't been telling you something else, have they?"

"That's no excuse." And having said that he huffs, arches his eyebrows at Gary, and pointedly takes another gulp of his drink. "So, what, you like what's going on here? You're okay with... this?" And he makes a gesture at the tv screen. They've cut to commercial, however, so there's no convenient scene of slaughter for Haruto to point out. It might take some of the bite out of the statement.

"It's a fine excuse." Gary mimics Haruto's huffiness and takes a gulp of his own drink. No, he is not going to elaborate. All that matters is to have the last word and to make Haruto as flustered as possible.

Speaking of which. "Looks like prime-time television to me," Gary shrugs. "What, did they end on a cliffhanger or something?"

Haruto is done arguing about the legitimacy of this guy's drinking. It's on to a slightly more serious topic... even if he has sort of already screwed it up. He looks back at what he was gesturing at, sees that it's barely objectionable, and brings his hand back in to pass it down his face.

"The arena. Where people kill each other. Hasn't anyone told you about that?"

"Oh! That, right." Gary takes a moment to think. Or, make a convincing imitation of thinking. He's already pretty sure he knows what's going on with these 'Arenas,' and he knows that they're not as bad as people make them out to be. If they were that bad, then a whole city wouldn't be so entranced with them, would they be? Surely people would rebel! "...Yeah, looks about the same. People do crazy stuff on reality TV, you know?"

"...just what kind of reality TV have you been watching?" He's a Kamen Rider, and he is learning to presume the worst about the situation whenever you wind up in some weird side dimension. He is not at all impressed with this guy's lack of cares. "Who... wait, who are you?" Perhaps that should be clarified, too...

Gary would answer in some detail about what kind of reality television he expects this to be, but introductions seem more important to him right now. He sticks out a hand and beams. "Gary Epps! Nice to meet you."

And now we are momentarily detoured from arena-chat, for better for for worse. Haruto gives an instinctive subtle recoil from the hand, but after a moment of pause and frowning, takes it and shakes it. "Right." Because he wasn't sure how nice it was to meet this guy. He was American, right? This was what Americans were like, he was pretty sure... "I'm Haruto Soma."

Gary counts the handshake as a success. "Right! Haruto." He nods and makes an enthusiastic gesture at the bar. "Go get something else to drink! Looks like you're running low, huh?" Then, without a second to confirm, Gary's already heading towards the bar he was just motioning at. "I'll get you something! More of..." Hold on, Haruto told him this one. "...that 'chuhai,' yeah?"

"Uh... right. Yeah." The moment Gary turns around Haruto tries valiantly to drain as much of his drink as he can. It's a bit strong and a bit much at once, but he wants out of here and he doesn't want to waste. With that done he's trying to slip into the crowd and towards the nearest exit. He's had his fill of this, and it's probably better to not drink to excess in a place like this.

Gary is blissfully unaware that Haruto is heading in the other direction, up until he finishes ordering the drink and turns to give it to his new companion. "Now you have to pay me back for this eventually--" The realization dawns on him suddenly. Gary puffs in momentary indignation, but it doesn't last long--now he has another drink! He shrugs and returns to mingling.
