Just gonna shake it off
Who: Ruffnut and You
Where: Wandering around the Capitol
When: After the arena.
What: Ruffnut is prowling around the Capitol exploring and getting glared at.
Warnings: None yet.
The arena was winding down and Ruffnut still hadn't found Hiccup and Astrid...and so she'd given up on that for now and was exploring.
Back home whenever they weren't causing destruction she and her twin loved to explore the island inside and out. From the forest to the mountains to the beaches and the tunnels deep underground. Ruffnut took pride in thinking there probably wasn't much of Berk she hadn't seen.
But as much as Berk was her world, The Capitol was bigger. So...so much bigger.
And she was on foot which didn't help. Once or twice a cab or carriage would stop by to offer her a ride only to spot the branding on her cheek and scowl at her. She was a horrible traitor and the Capitolites despised her for it.
That however barely bothered her. She didn't care about what these chumps thought! She was a proud member of the Hairy Hooligan tribe! She did what she thought was the right thing and if they didn't like it they could bite her!
Of course that thought just brought her back to the monster man who had eaten her in her first arena. She shook that thought away as well.
During the black out she'd gotten her kicks by smashing anything she could get her hands on and setting fires. But now that things were back to "Normal" she was bored and looking for a thrill. Preferably one that wouldn't get her arrested again. She had even been patient enough to let her stylist pretty her up again with clean, washed and freshly braided hair, and a rough looking dark green leather jacket that made her think of dragonskin.
The weather was cooling these evenings and it was getting dark sooner but to a girl from Berk it was barely a chill.
This is presumably when she spots you! Yes you! Whoever you are she's sticking her nose in your business and moving closer to see what you're up to.

"Back off traitor!" He barked backhanding Ruffnut clean off her feet. He was a big broad shouldered guard with his helmet under his other arm and a flashy and sparkly capitol woman at his side.
no subject
But hey, she still considered everyone here fools.

Ruffnut didn't know who Venus was despite having met her in the last arena, but Ruffnut was happy to hear the stern words from Sonja that drove the locals off.
Shoving herself to her feet Ruffnut pulled a face dusting off her rump.
"I'd like to see those losers make it ONE day in the arena." She spat.
no subject
"Best we don't cause too much trouble in the meantime, unfortunately."
no subject
"Yeah I know, but it's not easy." She shot another glare at the Peacekeepers before turning her back on them for the last time.
"Back home trouble was the only thing I knew how to do! Here I can't even get halfway started into some real trouble before I get shot with lightning and thrown back in my room."
Ruffnut wasn't sure but she thought she might currently hold the record for most times tazed in the capitol.
no subject
"....Perhaps we should focus on other em devours for the moment then, yes?"
no subject
Ruffnut did not know the meaning of the word endeavors. Literally.

"You eat, drink, shag and train." Train for the day when you finally break your chains that is. But until they find a way to do that, it was best to watch and learn from your enemy. The only sure way to best someone was to learn about them.
no subject
"YEAH! Now that's the kind of whatever you said I can get behind!" Not that she had ever shagged, and she only trained as much as she felt like it. But the other two worked great.
"Live like we're in valhalla because we could be going to war any day now. When you put it like that it sounds fun." She declared happily.
no subject
"I'm afraid that I cannot sing or tell good poems." That was going to certainly be a bit of a shame. But what could you do?
no subject
"I dunno about poems, that's more Tuffnut's thing. But I've got stories I can tell ya. Like this one time my brother got himself stuck in a dragon trap right? He was hanging from this tree..." She launched into the story enthusiastically, apparently thrilled to have a warrior friend willing to follow the time honored tactic of distracting themselves from problems. By the time they reached the bar Ruffnut was grinning wickedly again.
"So this huge dragon is starring him down, and it turns out it was this dragon we met as a baby! We named it Toarch and now Toarch was back! And Tuffnut was training him while hanging from a tree like some kind of big stupid fruit."

(She can't even effectively use most of the thing the various shops sell, and given that she hasn't been doing a whole lot of winning lately, she can't even call the prizes and spend the time finding a way to at least make something of her time.)
So mostly she moves through the streets at something half-way between a stalk and a skulk, a quadripedal cloud of displeasure and vague uncertainty looking for something that's at least not yet more walking around.
no subject
"Mmmrf?!" Ruffnut remarked upon impact before stumbling back and getting a look at who she'd hit. "Oh...not Barf. It's you um...whatever your name was." She looked disappointed but it only lasted a moment. "Anyone ever tell you that your skin is kind of like a Hideous Zippleback feel?"
no subject
It's not exactly the most gentle of comments, even given that it comes from Iskierka, but it's clear enough that she doesn't entirely blame Ruffnut for having forgotten. It has been a while since they'd last spoken.
"But what is a Hideous Zippleback?"
no subject
She exhibits this by making her hands into two snakelike shakes and having them mime out a hissing gas and a sparking fire before throwing her hands in the air in a Kaboom gesture.
no subject
"Could they not have simply used just the one? It is not as if you need any more than the one, to make a flame."
And she should know, given that she's a firebreather herself, when the Capitol isn't interfering and keeping her form being able to do exactly that.

Besides, she's general in favor of explosions. Not as much so as she is with things being on fire, but that's certainly understandable. After all, it's fire that she's used to and explosions only happen now and again, her experience.
no subject
But not as cool as Barf and Belch.
"I don't get how the Capitol can stop you from breathing fire though." Ruffnut suddenly wondered out loud. "It's not like they can stop me from spitting."
She then demonstrated by shooting a glob of spit out of her mouth at the street causing some passing Capitolites to make noises of shock and disgust.
no subject
"And it is not really like spitting anyway. That is more the Longwings then any firebreathers I know. It is more like simply breathing out, only it is fire instead of anything else."
There's probably something more technical to it than that, but Iskierka's no scientist and isn't so much in how she can breathe fire as the fact that she can. Or should be able to, rather.

"And even when I had just hatched, I could still flame."
no subject
"We've raised a few baby dragons on Berk. They get into everything! And they only listen to the bigger dragons...sometimes." She chuckles. "Listening to adults is over rated."
no subject
"It is dreadfully inconvenient to have to, sometimes."
no subject
"I mean these guys around here they just love rules right? It's always about rules and don't do this! Don't touch that! You can't have sharp things in your room. You can't set things on fire. How can anyone live like this?" She complained loudly and gesturing around at the colorful and ridiculous outfits of people milling around them.
no subject
Not the way the Tributes have, and that they're shackled round by the rules of a new place entirely is neither easy, nor comfortable. Admittedly, she might be getting a pass on the 'no sharp things' on account of being largely made of sharp bits, but the rest is still more than a little irritating in the long run.
no subject
"But what can we do right? I mean Hiccup is like, the smartest guy I know and even he can't figure out a way to fix this mess."
So clearly they were doomed.
no subject
no subject
"Still not much we can do about it till the big brains figure it out or at least we get stronger." She scratched her fingers through her hair finding it irritatingly smooth.
"You know every time I tell new tributes about you they get so freaked out, it's really funny." changing the subject her grin twisted into it's crooked way once more. "Do you ever get tired of seeing the look on peoples faces when they meet you?"
no subject
"I have not yet, at least, and it is terribly interesting seeing how people will react besides."
The only exception is when people don't seem to be surprised or startled, given that it's hardly interesting, that way.

Perhaps not nearly as many, true. But there most certainly have been people asing her about that as well, and for the most part, she hasn't any more idea than anyone else. Just that she can and that's enough for her.
no subject
She found herself distracted by a display window full of extravagant looking cupcakes.
"At least they taste better then they look." She commented idly apparently not appreciating the delicate and fancy looking designs.
no subject
Most of the time she could be said to be more destroying things than anything else, and there's not exactly much that's fixed by ongoing war.
"They are better at making things taste nice than look it, I have found. No matter what they might think."
For lack of better ideas, shall we wrap? I'm open to brainstorming alternatively.
"Well I'm better at eating nice things. Come on I'll buy you one...do dragons eat cupcakes?" She was pretty sure the dragons back home would eat anything but Eels given the chance. But who knew with this one? She was several mysteries wrapped into one.
Wrapping works for me!
Or at least, it isn't as far as she's aware of, and that alone is more than enough to have her following along quite willingly. After all, it's not every day that a chance like this shows up and it's certainly worth the try, as far as she's concerned. And that, in turn, is all that really matters to her, just at the moment.
