Cellblock Tango Redux

The holding facilities have been modified since the last time the prisoners were held there. There are roughly twenty or so holding cells, ten on either side of a long hallway, facing across from one another. The cells themselves are rather spacious, but they've been divided into smaller sub-cells with a forcefield acting as a barrier. Up to four prisoners can be housed in one of these smaller cells.

Those who never made it out of the prison have been branded and are housed in these cells beginning on Friday night. They can verbally communicate with each other, but physical contact is restricted. And remember, your words and actions are under constant surveillance by Peacekeepers.

Those who escaped and were recaptured will be put into cells in this same cellblock. They will not be branded, but instead will be cuffed.

All characters will be occasionally removed from their individual cells and taken elsewhere for interrogation. Some will be injured. Others will not. There does not seem to be much rhyme or reason to who is physically punished and who is not.

The guards are even less friendly than they were before. Now they are armed to the teeth and there are even more of them. There are K9 units posted at either end of the hallway at all times. Privacy is a thing of the past, but at least it's not forever. Right? Right?

Susannah rolls her eyes. "Harley, you're exaggerating." It's obvious which interpretation she's going for: bad joke.

Harley chuckled. "Are you sure?" Her smile warmed a little more. " If I did you 'd be responsible for my tributes. Especially Elsa. That girl is too pure fore her own good in a place like this."

Because despite her sometimes questionable methods, Harley was a dedicated mentor.

"I wonder if Eve and Mindy got out ?" She added thoughtfully glancing at the ceiling.

"If they did, they couldn't go back to the Tribute Center," Susannah points out, "bein' on the lam and all. Unless they got time off for good behavior--but I can't see that from Mindy." She frowns. "Elsa wouldn't want my help after I stabbed her hand in that maze."

Harley waved a hand dismissively "Aw don't worry about that. She's a sweetie, very forgiving. All you gotta do is apologize and show her how sorry you are."

Casting her a sideways look she added "Besides it wasn't you was it? It was lady stabbington on the inside there. All curse words and glaring. Or had she not taken the wheel yet?"

"It was her," Susannah admits. "I used to-- well, use her durin' the cornucopia." Back when she had faith in her ability to keep her under control, thanks Harley.

"See? So you have an excuse. Elsa will understand. So when I get horribly killed you do your best for her." She insisted.

"It's not a bad plan really. Detta enjoys the wet work and it keeps you alive long enough. So long as you can point her crazy in the right direction everyone wins. Is she how you've been dealing with the torture?"

Susannah hesitates before answering. It's probably obvious to her interrogators that she'd been doing that, but there's still a part of her that doesn't want to admit it. In the end she just inclines her head a little and says, "She's more likely to respond with a 'fuck you' than a confession."

Although Detta had confessed enough by the end of it--she'd just managed to confine her confessions to things she'd done before Panem. The Peacekeepers were probably sick of hearing exactly what she'd done to Aunt Blue's plate and everything else she'd done in the Drawers, but frankly, it was their fault for breaking her legs and having the shattered blue and white spark the memory.

"That's what I figured. See even if you don't like her, she can be helpful. Like me." She sighed wistfully.

"And you swear you don't hate me anymore?" She added with a note of apprehension in her voice.

Susannah sighs. "I don't hate you, Harley. Not anymore."

Harley smikes gratefully at that, relaxing gently.

"You're still my kind of girl, even if you don't think so." She put her fingers to her lips a blew Susannah a kiss.

"Harley," Susannah growls. "Stop it."

I see what you did there!

Harley pouted once more at the admonishment "why? What do you have against air kisses?"

"You're bein' embarrassin'," Susannah hisses.

The girls face twisted up in confusion.

"I never knew you were such a prude. I mean I know ya wouldn't let me kiss ya for real but sir kisses? Through a barrier? He may be your boyfriend but he 's not complaining."

"I told you," Susannah says irritably, "he's not my boyfriend. We're not romantically involved. But he's-- he's like family, Harley. Would you do that in front of someone's kin?"

Harley turned to look at Roland for a long moment, then back to Susie.

"If I like the girl enough? Sure. Love is love no matter who's around."

"You're impossible!" Susannah mutters and she moves to cross her arms in font of her, only it hurts to moves them and so she stops.

Harley rolled over again onto her back with a whimper and gripped at her ribs.

"Have you ever thought that a source of your constant stress might be how up tight you are about so many things? I mean obviously you don't want to let all your walls down but an sir kiss should be harmless. Especially from someone who cares about you."

"Harley," Susannah says, "you forfeited the right to act as my analyst when you helped Detta rampage across the maze."

She began idly kicking her legs in the air like a child.

"Yeah because I never say anything helpful , useful or meaningful." The words were said lightly but the expression on her face was clearly hurt.

"I may not be your analyst but if we 're still friends my opinion should matter a tiny bit."

Susannah groans. "Just because I don't hate you anymore doesn't mean we're friends again yet." After all, she still didn't really trust Harley.

"Right." Her legs fell back down with a thud "I'm just some stranger who sends you gifts, constantly tries to help you and got herself arrested trying to save you. Not friendly at all. Downright evil really." She tugged on her own ponytails in frustration.

One could practically see the rain cloud forming over her head. Susannah had seen this before during Harley 'a last pathetically desperate attempt to beg for forgiveness.

"When the hell did you send me gifts?" Susannah snaps. She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and says, "I don't trust your help, Harley. Not anymore. Your way of helpin' involves makin' people more crazy, not less. You know it too. And it does mean something that you came to save me. It's why I don't hate you anymore."

"In that arena where the kid dropped a brick on your head!" She shot back. "And the pies I kept leaving outside your room."

Rolling on her side to turn her back to the room she muttered. "It's not like it only ever hurt people. I'm not a one trick pony. I'm not a monster. I'm just an obsessive girl who tries WAY too hard for people who keep hurting her."
