When things like THIS and THIS are going down it's probably a good time to touch base with one another. Face caressing, crying and meaningful stares abound as the Tributes and Staff drag their knuckles hopelessly in an effort to figure out what the fresh hell is going on.

"Optimistic, but foolish." She agreed and set aside her drink.

"Thankfully it's only up to us to help our tributes learn and grow. So what can we do to improve them. Where are our weak links?" She quizzed Hans to steer his mind away from rebellion for now. If she was going to be more proactive she'd need at least one of the mentors of her district to be playing the party line.

"Wow," Anna replies, half-awed, half-dubious. "Did you make him? My sister made a talking snowman. His name's Olaf. We built him when we were little kids, and Elsa brought him to life."

"Well I didn't bring him to life, he's hardly the real boy he wants to be. But, yeah. I built him when I was 16."

Though if he thought about it, he could probably say that J.A.R.V.I.S was pretty damn close to being actually alive.

"Really, brought him to life... So, he has a brain?"

"Ummm." Anna looks perplexed by the question. "Sort of? I think? Maybe." It's really complicated. "Like, Elsa brought him to life with magic, and he definitely has a mind of his own, but he also melts."

She gives him a shrug. "But either way, he's pretty great. And he's a really good friend!"

"We're drag queens." He shudders out a laugh, forcing a sly grin. "If we can't survive a hot mess, nobody fuckin' will." He moves to give the boy's arm a squeeze before reaching to pull the covers up over them, making them a nice little covered over net for a little subtlety. He can't say much, he doesn't know what they listen in on, but Oliver needs to know what he's planning.

"I have to do something." His voice is low and serious, barely above a whisper even if he's keeping it vague. "You gotta keep your ass safe, alright? Make it my birthday present." Aka Mommy Has Work To Do, Honey.

Oliver snuggles down underneath the cover without much questioning. Mostly because he can feel something heavy coming on and he can pretty much guess what it's all about. So he presses his face into the pillow, mind racing.

"What--fuck. Then let me help you," he pleads quietly. Whatever it is, he doesn't want Trey doing it alone. The idea of his drag mom, one of his best friends in the whole world, doing something dangerous and maybe getting caught, and Oliver not being able to do a thing about it, is terrifying.

"That's." Tony tries to think about what that could even be. "Uh, new." it's really all he can manage to settle on. "That snowman, wouldn't happen to be here too, would he?"

Really it was too curious a thing to hear to not have Tony's interest and him wanting to check it out for himself.

"Well, DUM-E, isn't great. Just... There."

Tony's never really going to elaborate on that, because DUM-E is a constant source of pride, and embarrassment on many different levels.

He makes no case against her assertion, it was the response he expected after all. He came in here pretending to be naive, it wouldn't make sense for it to depart so quickly.

"Well, in an Arena I know we don't have to worry about most of them, all things considered. Most of them are either charming or competent, or a little of both if they're lucky. Their narratives are interesting as well, but outside.." He strains a little, as if it's hard to admit. "Shepard is outspoken, but she knows what she's doing. She's hard to predict. Venus and Diana know how to play to a crowd, Venus seems to have included Kankri in that, I don't imagine she'll compromise on it. Alex and Initiate are formidable enough to be interesting without trying too much, I'd say both of them know how to behave as well. Norville is.. well.. I don't think we have to expect anything too insidious from him, unless he's a wild card we don't know about. So that leaves.." He trails off, again not looking terribly comfortable. "He's already been sent back. Do you really think he'd do any worse for himself?"

Her smile is sharp like a razor and smooth like honey laced in poison.

"Very good. With Norville I feel compelled to mention that he has surprising depths to his intelligence when he is pressured. His quick thinking is how he survived so long in his first arena. I believe he may have some great untapped potential in speed based combat, but his pacifistic nature will attract some of the more...liberal of our contributors."

And more of those had been cropping up when you least expected it.

"As for you, your competence is a breath of fresh air whenever I need it."

Anna only shakes her head, laughing. "Noooo. No way. Olaf, he's--he wouldn't last ten seconds here. Literally. He'd melt."

She wrinkles her nose at him. "Well, you should still be proud of your accomplishments!" It's indicative of her astonishingly simple worldview, but she's a big proponent of self-esteem.

"I'm more than capable a surwiwin' this primitiwe sort a gimmick they got goin'. You needn't worry about me." Not that Loki was, but Eridan waved him off regardless. He felt he knew what he was doing, knew he was made for this sort of brutality. It was nothing in the face of what Alternia was, these humans trying to be crueler than their nature allowed was hilarious, if anything.

And perhaps a little sad.

"So tell me, how long hawe you been trapped in this blood-soaked game, hm?"

"Really you're only making me more curious about this."

Because really what isn't interesting about a theoretically magical sentient man of snow?

Then he shrugs his face at her admonishment.

"Are you proud that you can walk?" he asks casually, getting ready to make a point.

"I don't need help." Trey hisses back, trailing off with a faint ssshhh at the end of her sentence. He moves to jab gently at Oliver's tummy, as if they're just having a silly fight and not talking about some heavy shit.

"If I fuck up I gotta keep you right out of it." He whispers, trying to keep a playful lilt despite his expression staying severe. "You aren't my only baby anymore, alright? But you're the one I gotta keep safe." Before Oliver, Trey was definitely more of a lone wolf and before the off-worlders, Trey never had bonds with tributes at all. Now his little family is growing and he knows he needs to step up to make sure the competent bitches are around to protect Oliver when shit starts to go down.

"Well, I certainly can't fault him for a skill set like that. It would certainly do him better if we kept that as discreet as possible, really play up the fact that he's an oaf to other people. Unless, of course, we want to make him more popular than he is surprising. We don't want him to be brushed off entirely, after all."

He's put quite a bit of thought into that, so excuse him if the compliment takes him off guard for a moment. There's a brief flash of surprise in his face, followed by an appreciative smile. "I'm happy to provide. I really have nothing better to do, you know." He laughs, so funny. What a joke.

"I know that I think you're a fool for doing so, Thor." Whether or not it was truly foolish was yet to be seen. Loki didn't know what would happen here. Not yet. He had a feeling, though, that it was. He knew Thor better than he knew an other person, it was why they made such good rivals and brothers.

When his brother pulled him into a hug, Loki's arms fell to his side. He didn't try to worm away, but he wasn't sure if he should hug back. It was just...awkward. Not entirely unwanted, but perhaps when he was smaller he would have liked to receive this.

"I know you don't, Thor. I can't promise anything either." Loki was trouble in his own way.

Even the slightest smile helps to form one of her own, a comfort coming from his efforts.

"Thanks, I'll try not to break it." It shouldn't be too much of a problem, already having learned a bit on how to handle it. She hadn't snapped the thin, fragile device in half or anything at least, so everything from there should be okay.

She takes a moment before she finally speaks up, a sincerity floating through her tone. "Thank you."

It could be said for the tablet, but it's easy to see that it was for much more beyond that, a reckless, urgent nature only being eased down with the help of his words.

Anna actually laughs more of that. Oh, Tony, you have no idea. "Actually, kind-of? I'm a little clumsy. Sometimes it feels like an accomplishment not to fall, or trip, or run into anything, or--or ruin a perfectly good cake with a marble bust."

"Well you know what they say about idle hands." She joked with a soft chuckle.

"So long as we can keep the items flowing, even our most abrasive tributes will be happy. The challenge in keeping our sponsors happy falls to us. Some are growing jaded by repeated loss. But there is always hope that you've backed the right party. Bragging rights, the chance to make yourself feel as though you are the smartest person in the room."

Oliver can feel himself growing frustrated, but he's trying not to let it show. His real parents don't give a shit what he does, as long as he doesn't fuck up their reputation, but his adopted family actually care for him, and that's weird. He needs to remember to be grateful that someone's looking out for him. So he lets out a whine, but begrudgingly agrees.

"Fine," he grumbles, trying not to sound too grateful. "Just, you be careful, please. You're my family, you bitter old queen, and I love you."

God, Astrid, that breaks his heart.

His smile turns sad, and when he stands, he rests a hand on her shoulder for a moment. Just a moment, just a light touch, and he's not sure if it's for her or for him, but it is a you're welcome.

Then he turns and walks off.

Tony sighs then furrows his brow.

"How did you lift a marble bust?"

Yeah something like that is going to completely derail his last train of thought.
Clumsy girls aren't all that uncommon but clumsy ones who can just up and lift something marble? Well that's kind of impressive.

Anna's brow furrows to match Tony's. "I just...did?" She shrugs. "It wasn't like it was that heavy."

And then a thought occurs to her. "Or maybe I'm really strong? I did punch Hans off a ship that time, and he's got to be at least twice my weight."

"You punched a guy... Off a ship?" He can't help it his eyes go straight to her arms. They don't exactly look like they could easily knock someone off their train of thought let alone off a ship.

"You are just a lot of surprises in a tiny package, Samus."

He shakes his head, as the head in question is working out the physics of who Anna could even do that.

Anna grins up at him. "Yup!" Her head cocks to the side. "Who's Samus? Anyway, it doesn't matter. I'm gonna take that as a compliment."

"It was a good compliment. Just ask, uh. Dave or someone."

After all Dave would know video games, right? He looks around for a moment then nods to himself.

"So, You're going to be okay? I have a few more people to get my eye on."
