Boom boom boom

Who| ALL people who call the Tribute center home, and anyone who might have been there on business.
What| Lock down
Where| Around the Capitol, and in the Tribute Center.
When| Feel free to tag in if you died any time in the first 3 weeks. (So if you die tomorrow, you can feel free to back tag in, if you like)
Warnings/Notes| Use this post both for threads before, around the city, and after the Peacekeepers and Avoxes gather everyone. More information about the state of the city after this will come tomorrow in the Deathroll. If your tribute character is out and about, they should expect Peacekeepers to escort them back within 15-20 minutes (and you can feel free to handwave the peacekeepers)

The people lurking around the docks, wearing plain clothes, rough clothes, might stand out among the Capitol Citizens if 'District chic' wasn't a style that came and went on a regular basis. As it was, they barely stood out, people trying too hard to look like they didn't belong and that they did, at the same time.

Sorta like everyone else around them. It was hard to act suspicious in the Capitol.

It was a bit strange, people getting on the Shore to Shore boat dressed like that. Not normally what anyone would consider club wear, but 'normal' was not highly regarded around these parts.

However, it wasn't long after the boat had left the dock that it made it's grand exit.

In an explosion that sent a fireball high into the night sky, lighting up the bay, and sending high waves lapping at the shore, the boat was obliterated. Rescue operation were swift, but there just wasn't much left to rescue.

Siren's filled the city, automated voices urging people from every street corner to return home, lock the doors, stay inside. And for the Tributes wandering the city, it was more then automated urging. Those in the Tribute training center were gather up by Avoxes, and brought down to the common room, the elevator refusing to work for anyone who wasn't in the process of gathering up Tributes, Mentors, Stylist...anyone lingering in the building.

Those Tributes not already at home found themselves flanked by Peacekeepers and escorted back, deposited in the same common room, and told to wait.

Eventually, hours later, everyone was cleared and the elevator opened, although the front doors still refused to allow anyone out without a special clearance no one was being offered. A recorded voice told them emergency alert instructions would be available for them in the morning. And then their doors locked behind them for the night.

Eliot had to admit he was relieved to have his date interrupted, especially when the Peacekeepers escorted him to the common room of the Training Center rather than back to see that bitch. He walked over and sat down next to Ariadne. They hadn't really had a chance to speak since her coronation. At least here it wouldn't look too odd.

"Are ya all right?" he asked, noting the way she rubbed her arm.

"Fine," she replied, unable to keep a faint thread of annoyance from her voice. Her eyes were still on the Peacekeeper in question, unreadable but less than pleased with the man. Eventually, she turned her eyes over to Eliot, still frowning a little; she let her expression soften a tiny bit then, though. It was true - it had been a while since they'd spoken. She felt like she barely even knew him anymore. Possibly for the best; she didn't know.

"You?"

He followed her glare to the peacekeeper in question. It wasn't really a surprise. "Fine other than having my date cut short," he replied as if he was annoyed instead of grateful. "Ya heard what's going on yet?"

Refraining from commenting on his date, Ariadne merely lifted her eyebrows. She didn't really want to hear about the details of it; she knew well enough that getting out of any kind of Capitol-sanctioned date was probably better than attending it, even if it was to sit in a room full of irate Tributes. "No. I don't think they're planning on telling us, either. I think there might have been some sort of explosion, though."

Oh, this date was one he was particularly happy to have gotten out of. He had no desire to share details but this could not have happened on a better night. "Damn... But who would both want to and be able to get into the Capitol to do it? I know the Districts are angry but the Capitol is closed off. Unless it was a remote detonation..." He trailed off, thinking how it could work. Unless someone from one of the Districts found a way to sneak into the city.

She just looked at him then, wondering if he realised how risky it was to be discussing the details of the thing with Peacekeepers watching them like hawks. Her voice was low when she replied, "Maybe they were already in the Capitol. This isn't the first time something's happened."

Oh, he knew the risk. He also knew they'd expect them to wonder and, perhaps, speculate. Especially since they had been told nothing. So he did, keeping a tone of doubt to it all. "No, it's not. But it is the first time I've heard of somethin' this drastic."

"What about the tracker jackers?" She reminded him, recalling one of the earlier Crowning Ceremonies. Probably the reason they'd slowly made them more and more isolated events, broadcast almost primarily instead of being public events. If she recalled correctly, that event had been eventually followed up by Tate's death. She wondered if that didn't bode poorly for some of the Tributes.

"The tracker jackers?" he asked, a slight frown on his face. This was the first he'd heard of it. He'd watched some of the previous games when he'd had to but he'd never bothered watching the earliest Crowning Ceremony. "What about them?"

"They weren't exactly pleasant. I'd say they ranked fairly close to each other in terms of being drastic." And she'd thought that was a little bit obvious, but hesitated to say so. She was already annoyed enough by the Peacekeepers' treatment, after all; opening her mouth further on the topic would probably put her on a road to getting a reputation of a sort.

His frown deepened. He was completely lost here. "I'd assume they'd be pretty painful if you got stung, but I don't know what you're talking about. What happened with them?"

She glanced to him, a bit disbelieving that anyone wouldn't go to the trouble of knowing the place they were forced into. Maybe that was just her, though. "You should look it up when we get back to our respective suites. I don't remember all of the details."

He nodded. Forgive him for being kept too busy to do much exploration of current events. He hadn't exactly chosen his schedule of late. "I'll do that."

None of them had; it had been all but impossible since their respective arrivals. Ariadne merely nodded to that, returning a brief glance around the room in hope of urging someone to just let them go. She'd had about enough of being trapped in a room with every other Tribute, especially with some of them being as irate as they were.
