where are you?
Who| Shaggy and YOU???
What| Shaggy Rogers fell asleep in the car and now he's not entirely sure where he is
Where| In the D5 suite, Tribute Center Central Commons
When| A couple days before the arena
Warnings/Notes| I'll be assuming Shaggy will have his illusions corrected at some point before the second prompt, also there'll some spoilers for the first season of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated
[For District Five Only]
"Like, wow," Shaggy says to himself, as he takes in the floor that they'd told him to go to. "This is, like, totally not what I thought military school would be like." He'd expected more tents and helmets and buzzcuts. He brushes a hand over his own Shaggy hair reflexively. Yeah. Still there.
Maybe Scoob's nice farm would be fancy like this? He hoped it would be. Man, he missed Scooby so much already. He missed all of the gang. It really didn't feel right being without any of them.
Oh. Was that a kitchen over there? Yeah. It was. Cool. He'll just mosey on there and see if there's anything to eat.
[Open]
So it turned out that not only did they have a way cool kitchen in that "District" he'd been assigned to, but the Central Commons on the ground floor of this Training Center place also had a really great restaurant too. And because he was one of those Tribute guys, Shaggy was allowed to eat as much as he wanted there free.
So, like, even though most of the rest of this whole Tribute business stunk, the unlimited free food was pretty cool.
Especially now that he had a bowl of clam custard bigger than his head.

Re: District 5 naturally
"Something like that." Her voice was measured and tempered only by how good her mood had been prior to his arrival. "I prefer the term "Mentor". My name is Azula."
"You also have a Stylist, and a Escourt who you will meet later. Between the three of us we are to prepare you for whatever may come your way. If you listen, obey, and push yourself to do as we say then you will have a bright future here."
Re: District 5 naturally
... yes, Azula, he did just say 'military school.'
Re: District 5 naturally
"This, is not military school." She corrected him "Though I can see where someone would think such a place could help you. This is something far more glamorous and rewarding then military service."
Practically gliding with grace across the room she took up a remote and flipped on the TV to a channel showing the last proper arena.
"This is The Hunger Games."
Re: District 5 naturally
And then he stops talking, because some brown-haired guy is stabbing a blue-haired kid on the screen.
"Zoinks!"
Re: District 5 naturally
"I am very sure, I have grown up in this world." She tried to explain and nodded to the TV.
"In a short amount of time, days really, you will be thrust into an arena where you will be expected to fight for your life...or die."
No sense in sugar coating it.
Re: District 5 naturally
He's deliberately looking away from the TV now. He hasn't stopped gobbling down the food, though.
Re: District 5 naturally
"You can attempt that, but it rarely ever works. And it's only interesting for the viewers at home for some time. The key is to balance ruthless survival instincts with likability so that the viewers at home will send you items that you can use to live longer you see."
She was fairly sure he didn't see, but that was alright. She had plenty of time.
Patience was another matter.
Re: District 5 naturally
He's not slowing down his eating at all, either.
Re: District 5 naturally
"Are you...ill? Is there some medical reason you're eating so fast or is this normal for you?" she finally asked unable to take her eyes off the nearly horrific sight.
Re: District 5 naturally
Re: District 5 naturally
"Well I'll warn you now to be careful what you eat in the arena. Unless it is a sponsor gift which will fall from the sky with a parachute there is a very good chance that food you find in the arena may be drugged or poisoned. And if you should die because you were too gluttonous to control yourself I shall be very irate."
Re: District 5 naturally
By which he actually meant he'd only refrain from eating anything he saw until his stomach started growling. That... wouldn't take very long.
Re: District 5 naturally
She was unconvinced.
"You are not encouraging me. Let me be clear, things are going to be very painful and very scary. And if you do as I tell you and work hard you can make things easier for yourself. If you slack off and ignore my wisdom you are going to beg for the sweet embrace of death." Leaning on the table to loom over him she finished in a hushed sort of threat.
"Do you understand?"
Re: District 5 naturally
Re: District 5 naturally
Like flipping off a light switch she's back to cool and calm and in control as she casually runs her finger along the smooth countertop.
"Now finish your meal so we can head down to the training center. I shall want to see just what you're capable of for myself before I try to promote you to important people."
