Kankri, being who he is, simply assumes that Kurloz is respecting his desire not to be touched in excess, and is quite pleased at that. He lets go of the other troll's shoulder, and ushers him over to a plush chair. Then he's off to the fridge, snagging one of Venus's healthy fruit smoothies and fumbling in the drawers until he finds a whimsical curly straw. He sets both down on the end table next to Kurloz, beaming with self-satisfaction at his own ability to provide hospitality.

"They haven't brought you for the Games, yes?" he asks hopefully, and Kurloz might detect the edge of a tremble in his voice, under that forced cheer. "That was what Porrim said before, but I don't know if it extends to all of our new arrivals. Oh, I should warn you - there are other trolls here, but they are from an alternate timeline. One far less civilized than Beforus, I'm afraid. There may be some culture shock involved in meeting them, and I thought it would be best to let you know beforehand."

Kankri likes to talk, and Kurloz never talks anymore, so it's easy for him to settle into his old manner of speaking, rather than the constant second-guessing and self-censoring he has to do with most people here.
