"They haven't brought you for the Games, yes?" he asks hopefully, and Kurloz might detect the edge of a tremble in his voice, under that forced cheer. "That was what Porrim said before, but I don't know if it extends to all of our new arrivals. Oh, I should warn you - there are other trolls here, but they are from an alternate timeline. One far less civilized than Beforus, I'm afraid. There may be some culture shock involved in meeting them, and I thought it would be best to let you know beforehand."
Kankri likes to talk, and Kurloz never talks anymore, so it's easy for him to settle into his old manner of speaking, rather than the constant second-guessing and self-censoring he has to do with most people here.

He is now fully prepared for a long degrading lecture to dutifully tune out, invoking the spirit of his babelicious matesprit in her deaf mother fuckin glory.
But he chooses not to tune out just yet.
One far less civilized than Beforus, Kankri says. Beforus. Civilized. How funny. It's even funnier recalling Beforus is dead. It seems the Seer is several steps behind if all he doesn't think Kurloz has already been introduced to the New Alternia via word of others. Not that it mattered much. It would die too.
He wonders if perhaps shrugging would be sufficient response to Kankri's question, just to see if that tremble could become a shaking of earth, but he doesn't, instead shaking his head and holding a hand up to say no. Which was a quite nuisance with all the 'yes' thrown on at to that question in terms of giving answer with nod or otherwise. But if he knows Kankri well enough, Kankri will take it to mean that which suits him best in the moment.
