Thicker Than Blood Start

For Tributes with keen eyes, they'll notice that Peacekeeper presence seems increased and yet infinitely more ineffective in the last few weeks. Peacekeepers seem harried, as do the Stylists, and most of the Escorts titter and plot without alerting the Tributes as to what, exactly, is so exciting. They simply say that this weekend they'll know.

And so it happens that on the weekend in question, the Tributes are woken by their Escorts early and brought to a restaurant for a hearty breakfast. The restaurant is nothing spectacular, although they seem to be trying to make an impression on the television cameras that float around. The sleepy, cranky meal goes by and then the Tributes are led back to their Suites for a mandatory meeting.

Sitting on couches and the floor, in chairs and on windowsills, standing off to the side - people from the Tributes' homes are waiting to greet them in each District Suite. Some are confused, some accepting, some frightened and some elated to see their beloved. Either way, it should be an eventful reunion.

Mandatory meeting? Thane didn't believe it for even a second. He was ushered to the lobby of District One, after they seemed through with him. He walked slowly, but was continually alert. They have proven they were not shy about doing terrible things on film. He wasn't about to fall into that trap.

When he arrived in the lobby, he glanced around. It took only a moment before he spotted Kolyat. He seemed to be taking it all in, as well. He approached him, arms behind his back.

There was an anger sparked in him, but he had to keep beneath the surface. He wasn't angry at Kolyat, but this place had abducted his son.

"Kolyat," he said. "What have they told you?" he asked. It was the most important thing. For now, he'd find out what Kolyat knew. He wasn't about to ask why he was there. He already knew. It was easy for him to jump straight to business, but he knew that they were cameras.

He was surprised to see his father, of all people in a place like this. It made little sense why since his dreams rarely involved him in a situation such as this one. But he could see the sharp line of tension through his father's shoulders, anger, and his was well covered.

"They told me this was a dream, but it seems to detailed to be one."

"Your instincts would be correct," Thane said. Of course they told them it was a dream. It made perfect sense to lie to them like that. But not many people would believe things were a dream when they were told that.

"It is not a dream," he said. "I have been here for a couple of months. It has been a bit of time since we've spoken," he answered. The night before he got here, actually.

He glanced around, "I'm assuming you were brought directly here?"

"You've been here for months?" That surprised Kolyat, after all it had only been a day since he'd last talked with Thane. He wasn't as experienced in hiding the obvious surprise on his face like Thane was, but even then compared to most it was a much more muted expression. "I spoke with you yesterday, you can't have been here for months."

Noting the restlessness in Thane's movements Kolyat glanced at a few of the other people in the room with them, "No, we were all brought straight here without any questions answered."

Interesting how his absence could go unnoticed for the entire time that he was here. "I spoke to you before I arrived," he said. "It hasn't been long, just a couple of months. Enough time for things to change, at least." His health, too. Although he hadn't noticed much of a change. Less than he expected. he expected that it was due to the fact that he had died in the arena.

"I'm afraid that is the nature of this city, Kolyat."

It all seemed more than a little strange for Kolyat so for a moment he said nothing, crossing his arms over his chest and looking past Thane to the others in the room. The entire thing was unsettling, and he was sure that his father could read it well enough in him.

"Months of time you don't have." He responded dryly and turned back to Thane, watching him. "You look well."

He knows, Kolyat. He has such limited time and he does not like that he is spending it here. "I am well," he said. For a dying man, at least. He could hear it in Kolyat's voice, though. There weren't many good things about this current situation. Being separated from his son was the worst part, though.

He wanted to spend his last few living months being in contact with him. "If you did not notice I was gone, perhaps it is months I do have, Kolyat."
