( open ) Arrival
Who| Fíli and anyone!
What| Fíli arrives, and he is still quite lost despite whatever information has been given to him.
Where| Anywhere around the Training Center (also District 6 Suites), let me know in the subject line!
When| Now & during the next couple of days (ICly)
Warnings/Notes| None that I can think of.
FOR KÍLI;
Things happen entirely outside of him, beyond himself. Fíli feels as though he is nowhere at all, words spoken that he does not hear, things placed on his hands that he cannot touch. He demands then he asks, he all but begs, where his brother is, where Lake-town is, but the people around him only seem to answer questions that he is not making. Vague mentions of some games and a battle to the death hover at the back of his mind, but by the time he thinks to ask about those, he finds himself being taken to someplace else.
He does not stay for one second once he is left at the apartment, and makes off to find a way back, or at least someone he knows. He walks and runs, for however long he does not know, screaming and shouting for Kíli, for Bofur or Óin, but there is no one, he recognizes no one or nothing in this place.
It is a fear that coils at the pit of his stomach, settling heavier with each step he takes. How did he find himself here, and why? How is he to return? Panic surrounds him until it is too great for him to keep going and he all but collapses against a wall, sliding down until he is sitting on the ground, legs folded, head resting against his knees.
He can't breathe, and he realizes now that he is also lost.
FOR ANYONE;
All of this may be explained a thousand times over, still Fíli remains just as lost. He has found his brother, but that is as much familiarity as this place brings. He walks the halls and the rooms, everything strange and entirely foreign, and therefore all too intimidating to him, but he does not show it. He makes his best effort to keep his step sure as he peeks into each corner, watches each person that passes him attentively, and opens every door that he does not find locked - including doors to other people's rooms, but it is not as if he knows that.

He rounds the table just as the man talks to him, and his eyes move from the counters of the kitchen to him, a slight arch to his eyebrows. Tiny one, really. But he will not say anything to that, not just yet at least. "I feel as if I will never see all there is to see, no matter how many doors I open."

Bert gets up from the table and comes closer. If Fili isn't going to rise to the bait of being called short there isn't much more Bert can do about it. He will just have to introduce himself and try to be a gentleman instead.
"Welcome to District 3, or our little piece of it. I'm Cuthbert Allgood, son of Robert." He offers a hand to shake.
no subject
"I am Fíli," there is a slight pause as he considers how Cuthbert has introduced himself, and he adds. "Sister-son of Thorin Oakenshield. What is it that you think I may not wish to see?"
no subject
"Well met, Fili." He nods his head and then smiles almost sinisterly. "There are more things here than marvels, and curiosity may be of certain fatality to the cat, but 'tis not much better for humans. Or dwarves."
He's making a guess, and a safe one at that. Considering he knows another dwarf with a similar name and look about him.
no subject
Perhaps soon enough he would learn of the potential consequences, what the people in charge here could do to those who tried to find out too much. For now it is clear he is blissfully unaware. Either way, it does not seem to him that much harm will come from peeking into closets and rooms. The whole place seems rather inconspicuous so far.

Bert knows there's nothing on his floor worth hiding, but he also knows there is plenty around here that IS worth hiding. He likes messing with the other dwarf he knows too much to want to see this one get in trouble right off the bat. Still, he can't help but tease a little.
"What if I told you there was a dragon hiding behind one of these doors?"
no subject
"A dragon," he repeats warily, eyes already darting around the room. Which is silly, frankly, as he'd checked all the doors in that floor already. He asks just as quickly. "What is his name?"
no subject
"Her name is Iskierka. And she's not on this floor, I just wanted to make a point about strange doors."
Bert leans back and takes in the whole dwarf. He doesn't think one of Fili could take on a whole dragon, even if she is fairly small.
no subject
"Then I suppose I shall have to open doors a little more cautiously from here on out," he replied simply. "How can a dragon fit in these rooms, in any case? How big is she?"
no subject
Cuthbert likes to dream big, especially when those big dreams involve riding a dragon into battle like a hero of old. The smile on his face is dreamy and far off and he's clearly just imagining how great it will be.
no subject
It is a concept unfamiliar to him, and puzzlement is written all over his face as he arches an eyebrow quizzically. "Why would you want to ride a dragon? They are vile and dangerous creatures, and they will kill you the instant they have that chance."
Or those are the dragons Fíli hears of, at least.
no subject
He has been in a few dangerous situations with her, and she has yet to be anything but mildly impolite. And really Bert can't see the disadvantage to having a dragon for a friend.
no subject
It does not yet cross Fíli's mind that dragons may be different in other worlds, but as far as he is concerned, all of them are monsters and no more than that.
no subject
Cuthbert comes from a land where dragons are all pure fiction. He already knows there's a place where they are real or they wouldn't be one in the Capitol. But he's fascinated by other possibilities as well.
no subject
Fíli had not yet seen Smaup, but last he remembers the beast was flying right towards Lake-town. The roars could be heard even from afar, carried by strong gusts of wind.
no subject
It's all so theoretical to him, even though he's talked to a real dragon and fought by her side. He's enjoying poking at Fili, too, he didn't rise to the short comments, but that doesn't mean he's not impervious to a little teasing.
no subject
"Then perhaps luckily so, you are not a dragon."
no subject
He's fairly sure he's hit a nerve and it's worth remembering.
"I won't keep you on your quest. But do be careful what doors you open."
no subject
"I shall be alert from now on. Thank you, in any case."
And with a small bow, he turns to continue on his way.
