The Crowning of Mindy McReady
Who| Everyone who's anyone.
What| The Crowning.
Where| A warehouse on the edge of town.
When| Starting from early evening till late into the night.
Warnings/Notes| Be sure to check the linked thread for plot purposes, even if you don't tag into it.
The party is brightly colored.
The theme, subtly, is super heroes. Boldly paints city scapes are splattered across the walls, and hallways are made to look like dingy, potentially crime ridden alleys. From the upper walkways of the warehouse, party goers can get hooked into harnesses and swing out over the dance floor. Above them, tributes and VIPS can find themselves on a clear plastic dance floor levitated above everything, looking like they're hanging in air.
Masks are passed out in plenty, and capes are easy to find, while brightly colored drinks themed around super powers are plentiful. None of them actually work, but many of the Capitol people are happy to pretend, mocking super strength or invisibility with each new beverage.
Under the dance floor a catacomb of tunnels and rooms full of obstacles is splashed with black light receptive colors. Party goers are given vests and laser guns, marked green for villains and red for heros, and set loose to hunt each other in the laser tags playground. The screens in the dance floor keep a running tally of which side is winning, displaying the players on the screens around the room, along with clips from the arenas.
About half way through the night, everyone is gathered to the main stage for a special announcement.

Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"It works on you though girl, looks way better then it did on the first girl who wore it. Especially dem legs." She winked. She was in her actual super heroic (Villainous?) uniform of a red and black skin tight jesters costume that left only little to the imagination of her curves.
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
Susannah feels her cheeks heat up. Nobody asked you! she retorts.
"The first girl?" Susannah takes the glass, but eyes it dubiously. "Harley, honey, if you're tryin' to get me drunk tonight, it's not gonna work. I remember what happened the last time--and I plan on goin' home with Eddie if I go home with anybody."
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"Besides, I'd never try to bust up you and Eddie, love is sacred!"
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
Everything she can remember of when Detta took over is blurry, but she remembers enough. She remembers the way Harley had looked at Detta.
She takes a drink of the green fizzing thing, just a sip.
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
She winked "Eddie sees that in you too."
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"I don't know if 'wild' is the word I'd use," she says instead.
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"The point is, she's part of you. And if she's stuck around this long I'd say there's no sense in getting so flustered by her after all these years."
But Harley was smirking because she knew that was easier said then done.
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"Well I'm dangerous you know. But you still like me don't cha?" She pressed "And you're pretty dangerous yourself if the videos of the arena are to be believed. Is that all her or were you at the wheel for some of it?"
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"And if you're talkin' about the museum," she adds, "I was at the wheel for all of it. Everythin' after Bert found me. I don't need her to be dangerous, Harley. I'm dangerous enough on my own. I-- I don't think you understand, honey. What she is-- it's not passion, it's not wildness, it's malice, pure and simple. That bitch wants to see the world burn."
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
Not that anyone ever did. She just volunteered her opinion.
"You're a strong woman on you're own. If you could sort out your issues with the ladies then you'd be three strong women on your own." She winked.
"It's all just a matter of finding those common bonds that tie you together."
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"Speaking of costumes, honey," she says, changing the subject, "I see either you or the Dee Nine stylist has a thing for puns."
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"Aw no. That was all me. This was my first super villain costume when I finally joined my Puddin' and helped him bust outta the Asylum." she explained with a twirl so that Susannah (And Detta) could appreciate the clingy jesters costume.
"If anyone is to blame for the pun it's my parents for naming me Harleen."
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"That's just how it's done Suzie Q! Super guys get to wear extra padding and belts and things, and super babes like us have to be skin tight and nearly naked to get people to pay attention long enough to figure out we have brains and personality too." She bounced a few times to make her chest as distracting as possible like she was desperate for attention.
"I mean sure I could say "We need the freedom of movement" or even "Most super girls are just kinky like that." But I think at the end of the day it's to make sure that the bad guys or good guys are distracted." Or in her case, to fit with a theme.
"My best pal back home mostly just wears leaves and vines, if she wears anything at all. You coulda been dressed like that."
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
Obviously she needs to change the subject again. "You try that yet?" she asks, jerking her finger towards the laser tag.
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"Not yet!" She grinned brightly "I was just kinda...overwhelmed by how many familiar faces I was seeing ya know?" She gestured with a spin to all the costume clad tributes and mentors.
"I even saw a troll that looked like my old boyfriend. I broke a bottle over his head."
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"Anyway after I broke the bottle over his head we smooched and actually introduced ourselves." because why wouldn't Harley do things that way?
"How much of the games do you watch once you're back in the Capitol?" She wondered. "Since I was kaput on day one I watched...well alot." a sheepish laugh.
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
And watching too much put her in a dangerous mood, which she really didn't need to be in here, in the Capitol.
She takes another small sip of her drink.
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
At least that was a pretty good sounding reason to do it.
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"They make us look how they want. For better or for worse. And we can't say a word about it because they'll just punish us if we complain too much...at least if anyone pays attention to our complaints."
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
The thought is galling. She takes a sip of her drink, in hopes that being slightly tipsy will make the night easier.
Re: Susannah (pre-reaping, open)
"Oh Penny? Yeah she's a kick! She'd probably rip out your eyes as soon as look at ya! I'd love to learn what makes her tick if she'd ever let me close enough for a few hours. But she's super secretive."
Much to Harley's dismay.
"Honestly I'm surprised they haven't sent me to be punished by her given how I am. But I guess I'm more fun then irritating."
