The Initiate Fraysong ♑ (Young GHB) ([personal profile] carnagecarnival) wrote in [community profile] thecapitol2014-03-11 09:42 pm

Thank you, my treacherous friends.

Who| Terezi, Sigma, Initiate
What| Terezi and Sigma have definitely never fought before and absolutely need introduction. Clearly.
Where| Central commons
When| Now-maybe a few days back perhaps?
Warnings/Notes|  Language probably. Will keep updated.

Hands and knees and... pretty much motherfucking everything thoroughly paint and chalk coated, the Initiate rides along up the elevator, ashmate on the otherside as he leans back against the wall. That seemed like the best way to deal with anything. Something up on the mind on death? Worried if all someone ain't coming back, or relieved when they do? Paint it. Up and paint motherfucking everything. It was good for biding time until everyone all came back, something he's never had to do so much before.

He hasn't watched much for recaps, only watched those that weren't yet dead, trying to see when and how (and who would all make to be responsible so that he may hunt them where needed, next time). When the doors open to the Commons and he and Terezi step out, this is his excuse later. He spots the (his) old man across the room-- one who'd been back before him-- and immediately grins. His eyes dart from Terezi then to him, and he gets an idea.

"Sigma! BROTHER SIGMA!" He calls. And then, in his eagerness he brings Terezi along.  To her he says,"You got at to having a greet on for him before as yet, sister? THIS IS SIGMA. My friend." He gestures as he speaks. "SIGMA, THIS HERE ALL BE MY MIDDLE LEAF, MOTHERFUCKING AUSPISTICE, TEREZI PYROPE. " He beams at the pair, standing between them and clearly fond of both.

Sigma rises as he hears the Initiate's voice, his heart warmed by the boy's enthusiasm. He had not pushed their bond they had made in the Arena aside, after all, as the old man had secretly feared, and in fact intended on strengthening it. There's a start of a pleasant smile on Sigma's lips as he turns to meet his ally, a smile that freezes partway as his gaze falls upon his guest.

Indeed, Sigma would have been perfectly charmed to meet any friend of the Initiate's... Any friend except Terezi Pyrope, that is.

Despite lifelong practices in keeping his composure, Sigma cannot contain his surprise as he realizes who it was the Initiate intended to introduce him to. This was the 'woman' who killed him in one of his most excruciating deaths yet, and for a man who essentially could not properly die no matter how many doomed timelines he lived through, this was quite the feat. He stares at her awkwardly, hands instinctively smoothing over the fabric of his jacket that fell over his ribs. The sound that comes out of his mouth is equal parts discomfort and disappointment.

"A-Ah..."

The painting was good. Terezi could agree that it helped ease her mind. After everything that had happened, she needed a little time to unwind. She was especially glad to share it with him, though she hopes he didn't notice the way she shied away a little from her indigo chalk. It's too soon for her to want to slather the floor with that particular color. A little too fresh to her nose.

But it's okay. She knows, it will be okay.

She's still relaxing in that mindset when they step out into the Commons, and the Initiate hails to someone. She barely has time to pick out who it is--she doesn't recognize the name--before she's being dragged by the hand over to meet him.

Him, being one of the Tributes she killed a few weeks ago.

A friend of the Initiate.

Her mouth opens, but she doesn't make any noise at all. She doesn't know what to say, and there's a bit of panic in her thoughts as she tries to rationalize the situation she's found herself in. Her attention shits quickly from Sigma to Initiate and back to Sigma again with only the tiniest movements of her head.

For a blind girl, Terezi does a marvelous impression of a deer in the headlights.

The Initiate is disappointed, and that disappointed Sigma in turn. The esper swallows and considers the Tribute standing before him, looking her over. He did not know what the boy meant by 'middle leaf' or 'auspitice', but Sigma could hazard a guess. He was not so oblivious that it needed to be said that the Initiate looked forward to their mutual friendship.

Through gritted teeth, Sigma tried an apologetic smile. It was not in his nature to forgive killers or violence, but he would at least give the other a single chance. "Forgive me, Initiate Fraysong, it is not your fault. Unfortunately, I accidentally happened upon the wrong end of her staff some time ago. Isn't that right, Miss Pyrope?" The way Sigma brushes the situation off, he could have been explaining he had met Terezi at the grocery store. But it's clear by the tone of his voice and the tension that he has made quite the exception for her, and expects an apology in return.

Fraysong's face falls, and Terezi's not sure that she could feel more guilty than she did in that moment. She messed up, she knows. Not intentionally, but the result is still the same. She wouldn't have been happy about admitting to that, but she would have done it. Terezi Pyrope does not skirt responsibility, and it was her decision to put the old man out of the picture. She dealt the first blow.

But then he chimes in first with the apology, and it grates on her pride that this (mostly) stranger thinks he has to coax the truth out of her.

"That is one way to put it," she agrees, smiling back at him sharply. "Another way would be that you somehow warped natural causality to put yourself between me and my intended target--a turtle. Which doesn't so much constitute an accident in that case."

But no, she can't hide the fact that she does owe an apology... So she turns to Fraysong, more seriously. "Sorry. I didn't know he was your friend. If I had, I would have steered clear of the both of them."

futilecycle: (Isn't that the way?)

[personal profile] futilecycle 2014-03-13 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
...Terezi could tell that Sigma manipulated the future? His eyes narrow not threateningly, but in curiosity, humming thoughtfully to himself. To compound his problems, the Initiate was far from happy with his apology. Well, wasn't this getting awkward.

Sigma sighs, his shoulders dropping. What a mess. "I... I saw someone getting killed in an unfair advantage. Sometimes, I can foresee things yet to pass, among other visions." He clarifies in the interest of holding back the Initiate's wrath. "I acted purely out of instinct. Frankly, I should not have done it," he admits aloud. He needed to protect Howard above all, and yet he had moved to save someone he once hated. It wasn't that he disliked Donatello anymore, per se... but there were others that needed his help instead. Did that make him a horrible person, regretting saving someone's life?

"I leapt in front of her strike from hiding. Otherwise, I do not know if she would have killed me." He looks at Terezi for clarification.

"I wouldn't have." Terezi is quick to assert that, not for fear of Fraysong, but simply because it's the truth. She doesn't want either of them thinking otherwise... She had made some bad decisions in that arena from lack of forethought, but she would never 'cull for the sake of the cull'. She would hope that Fraysong at least would know that by now.

But she is a little surprised to find that Sigma has precognition at his disposal--just like her. She's even more surprised that he doesn't mind admitting it out in the open. She frowns at him. "I can See things, too. When you got involved, everything shifted in a way it definitely wasn't supposed to. It was my job to make sure my friends came out of that fight alive, and I didn't know what else you intended to change. I didn't cave your ribcage in because a whim happened to hit me."

"Still, you did initiate the battle, and did continue to strike," Sigma points out with another sigh, though it is in defeat. He was amazed he was being blamed for his own death, but such was life, he supposed - she had a point that he'd thrown a wrench into what should have been a predictable timeline. Still, Sigma finds himself frustrated; other than the skin of his cybernetics bursting open to reveal his true strength, he posed no threat. Despite having found another esper, he's somewhat wary of Terezi - her apology was not to him for causing him pain, but to the Initiate for inconveniencing him. "It is fine. At least we understand each other." He decided it would be best to let this go as soon as possible.

Yet genuinely hurt by the Initiate's comment, Sigma looks at him somewhat painedly - at least, as much as he risked to convey against his normally stiff and stoic persona. "It isn't as if I chose to be an esper," he says stiffly. "I apologize. I suppose I will not help anyone anymore unless they request it," he quipped.

The Initiate's outburst at the ceiling earns him a dry stare from Terezi. She's tempted to shove him for the comments, but she's not sure if he'd appreciate that sort of joking around when he's in such a displeased mood. She'll have to settle for ribbing him later about it.

Terezi mostly ignores the first of Sigma's comments in favor of the second. He's right about her actions. She did choose to initiate the battle, and she isn't going to refute the fact that she aimed to kill when he got in the way. She is, however, going to refute his self-pitying remarks. "You didn't choose to be what you are, but you do choose the actions you make. If you didn't like the outcome of what you stepped into, if you couldn't own up to all the repercussions, then you shouldn't have stepped into it. That is pretty much the first rule of foresight."

Sigma shoots an accusatory, and perhaps defensive, look at Terezi when she speaks. Neither of them had any idea the sort of things the other had forseen, and yet she judged him so? What was it he was supposed to do, allow those who did not deserve it to die when he could have stopped it? Sigma no longer understood what the people around him expected of him. He was beginning to miss Akane - at least the bloodthirsty woman was ever rational in her demands.

But when he took a moment to think about what Terezi had said, Sigma's expression softens. She was right, he thought. Yet, if he took responsibility for his meddling, did that put the mass extinction on his hands? It was something Sigma liked to avoid considering. The Initiate's chiding only adds to his shame and Sigma lowers his gaze to the floor shyly. To hear those words from someone did help him, but it was the Doctor's responsibility to be the parent. All the poor boy had wanted to do was introduce his friend and Sigma was being a fool.

"...Forgive me, Initiate. I made a mistake," it's a hard thing for a Zero, one who had to trust wholly in himself no matter how evil his deeds became, to admit to. He lifts his gaze to Terezi to speak at her directly. "You are correct. After all of these years, I suppose there is still much I could stand to learn," he yields. It's the second time he's gone against his impulses and extended the olive branch for another's interests.

Fraysong's outburst is unexpected from Terezi's point of view...but not entirely unreasonable. Here he is, trying to introduce his friends, and they're making it more difficult on him than it really needs to be.

She frowns at him when he makes his plea to her. Did she have to be making a whole thing of this?... No, not really. It's not like she knows enough about the other man to make a case for proper Foresight usage. Her comment was only based on the little bit he had said... Honestly, she didn't know what this stranger was like at all.

But when he concedes to her point, the tension leeches out of her. "It doesn't have to be a thing," she concedes in return to the Initiate. Then to Sigma, she continues: "...I'm pretty sure that Foresight never stops being a learning process. I didn't know that I couldn't See what would happen when other Seers--espers, whatever--acted on their visions. I've never actually met another Seer like me before." Not exactly, anyway. Rose was a Seer, but her powers were a lot different. She's not even sure they See in the same manner, or the same kinds of things. She never really bothered to ask, either.

"I'm sorry for attacking you," she adds, trying for casual and hitting somewhere between that and awkward. "I didn't know what else might happen, and I panicked."

Thankful the Initiate has defused the situation, there is finally a smile in Sigma's voice. First, he nods to the Initiate, sheepish he had let such a benign comment slip under his skin, and then to Terezi.

"All is forgiven, then," Sigma confirmed. "In fact, it seems that the two of us should find the time to speak." Truly, it was not the first nor the last time he would die and come back to remember it, and though it tortured him at the time, it was as easy to push this one from his mind as it was the rest of them. He could forgive Terezi easily enough if she meant it.

In fact, Sigma was overwhelmingly curious. He wondered how the powers from other universes operated, if they were the same as his own or worked under a completely different set of laws...

Terezi nods back to Sigma's suggestion that they find the time to speak. If he's not mad, then she's not going to be too concerned about the incident. "Anytime you want. It's not like I have anything pressing to do until they start rounding us all up again."

She notices the way that Fraysong has stepped back from the picture, only to watch them curiously. She scrunches her mouth up to one side and takes a step closer--just close enough to poke him in the ribs. "It's rude to stare. Even I know that."

Sigma smiles at the two pleasantly to see them getting along in front of him at last. It appeared to him that the Initiate was quite fond of this woman, and he found himself hoping the two of them would stay together. It would be good for him, Sigma thought. It also surprised him to learn Terezi was blind, a fact he noted without comment. Like Clover's brother, she managed fine, at any rate.

"Oh, I don't mean to chase you away, Initiate Fraysong," Sigma says apologetically. "We can find our own time. It is as she says, I do not have much to do but wait around until they release us into the Arena," he shrugs. "I don't believe you have anything to worry about any longer, at any rate."

Terezi grins back at the Initiate's teasing, going as far as to lightly shove him back for the physical rough-housing. He tries to act like he wasn't being a kid two seconds ago and Terezi just snorts.

"Yeah, you don't have to run off and leave us alone or anything. I'm also not going to knife him in the middle of the hallway, even if you do." Most people might think it's too soon to be joking about killing someone when you did in fact actually kill them before... but apparently not Terezi.

"But you can stay, even if you didn't have the good sense to be a seer like us. We're perfectly willing to accept the less gifted into our gracious fold. Right, gramps?"

Sigma laughed good-naturedly at Terezi's joke, and again at the Initiate's reaction. For the first time since he had been brought to Panem, he felt as if he were among friends, which was something to behold considering they had been fighting only minutes ago. It was true, however, that Sigma's tolerance of the deplorable actions of his friends was remarkably high, and he had never had many friends in his lifetime to begin with.

When he had recovered, he turned to the Initiate. "It's... a colloquial term for 'Grandfather,' or a man whose children have already sired children of their own. It has also come to mean one who is very old," he explained patiently. "It can be an insult if used to mock one's old age, but not a serious one, and I do not mind. I am old, Initiate." Sigma beheld him a moment affectionately. "There is a lot I have to teach you. Until then, it might take you some time to join our ranks, young one." He smiled at Terezi.

Terezi all but beams at Sigma. He is officially on her "coolest humans" list in part for rolling with her joke and in part for making fun of Fraysong with her. Those are two things that she can appreciate in a friend. Not that she's going that far yet, but the sentiment is there.

"Please! We don't need another conversation about your comfy-as-shit ass cheeks," she shoots back at Initiate. "We already know that your plush rump is the least gifted of us all. That is why you are itching to encase it in a shitty throne."

Sigma does not know the Initiate's History well- or what lies in his future, for that matter, as he seems to be explaining- but Sigma can recognize one making fun of themselves when it happens. He chuckles at the change in tone and puts his hands on his hips.

His stomach drops a bit when he realizes he finds it easier to talk with the Initiate than with his own son, but he recovers quickly.

"Alright, alright, I yield," Sigma smirks, starting a self-important and mocking tone of his own. "I shall vacate myself from your presence, Your Most High." In truth, he was getting a little tired. He was a self-inflicted introvert and it was going to take some time to undo the exhaustion he felt around others. "In all seriousness, I should be going. But it has been a pleasure to meet your friend, Initiate Fraysong. We shall speak again soon, I do hope, Miss Pyrope."

For the most part, Fraysong gets a bunch of scoffing noises of almost laughter from Terezi. She knows he's being ridiculous, and she's more than willing to play along with his snobby self-righteous bullshit. At least he's having fun for once, and not being a grump.

But then Sigma is excusing himself from the conversation. Terezi's a little disappointed, but they can't stand around in the hallway and chat forever. "You bet," she chimes back at him, grinning wide. "In the meantime, you don't have to worry. I'll keep this pretentious piece of shit in line." She raises up and tubs on Fraysong's ear for good measure.

Sigma watches the two bicker lovingly for a moment. Despite the implied violence, he knows they will be fine. Over the din of their argument, Sigma responds quietly, "I am glad you are safe as well, child."

He turns to the elevator and retreats to the silence of his room.
