emptytrousers: (Is it just madness keeping us afloat?)

And there they brew a beer so brown;

Who | District 7 and YOU!
What | A proper dwarven party! AKA lots of food, alcohol, and noise.
When | Saturday evening, Week 7.
Where | District 7 Suites
Warnings | None atm. Will update if needed!
Notes | Kili will be trying to grab people from the elevator to join in, if you need a reason for your character to be there! Otherwise just hop in and tag around!

Throughout most of the day, Kili can be found wandering about the suites, but particularly between the living room and the dining area, picking up chairs and settling them around the table until it seems there’s enough for a small army of people to sit near the table. He can also be seen whispering to avoxes and making requests left and right for this or that. The words ‘keg’ and ‘pipeweed’ are thrown around entirely too much for a single dwarf, but with all of his other activity, it may be a welcome relief from his established routine of moping during the day and getting positively blitzed at night.

As afternoon progresses into evening, Kili’s energy level only seems to rise as he ducks in and out of his room to check on preparations and as soon as the first dish is brought in, he’ll be darting from room to room to annoy gather his district mates to come join him at the table.

Kili has, in true dwarven fashion, not only requested one dish to be served but enough food to cover the table. By the end of the procession of avoxes, the tables is literally covered with meats, cheeses, vegetables, gravies, puddings, biscuits, and so much more. On the counter of the kitchen are two kegs of beer, which Kili has decided is simply not enough, and several bottles of various wines. Kili himself is seated near the head, eagerly looking about, or near the elevator, pressing the button and trying to corral any he finds inside the magic steel carriage to join in. Other times, he will be filling steins and trying to press them into the hands of those nearest, encouraging them to drink and be merry in his effort to recreate the atmosphere of a proper dwarven gathering.

Soon enough, though, he’ll settle back down into his seat, grabbing at bits of food and meat as he makes easy conversation with any he sees. He hopes that the party will pick up, that having a host of people will make him feel less homesick. In fact, he will certainly contribute a few songs of his own and exciting stories about trolls and dragons and mountains of gold.

"He warned me not to," Karkat says. "I-- I'm just a giant fucking moron sometimes. And no. I didn't kill him. He burnt himself out pushing our fucking meteor away into space and died because he'd strained his brain or whatever the fuck it is that makes psionics happen."

"At least you do be knowing it." She told him, some people went through their lives not knowing they were totally stupid.

"What do a meteor be being? Did his brain be exploding?" Priestess Elena had told her that bad things could happen if you used too much power so Pruna guessed it was similar.

"A meteor's a rock from outer space," Karkat explains. "The one we were on was fucking huge and had a laboratory inside of it. We had to get elsewhere in space so he pushed it with his brain, like a spaceship. That's how spaceships work, you put someone who has psionic powers inside of one and they have biotech to amplify their powers and the helmsman uses their brain to push it around space. So Sollux was being our helmsman to get us to where we needed to go, but he didn't have any biotech to help him, so he burnt himself out doing it. I... I think his brain melted. At least, the power in his eyes did and it leaked down his face."

Kakat winces, remembering.

She had wondered how spaceships would work, ever since hearing about different planets and the stars. Karkat's explanation made sense, he might be stupid with tiny horns but at least he explained things to her.

People had to be really powerful if they could push things around space with their brains.

But Sollux brain had melted, Pruna wrinkled her nose. "He do be sounding really powerful if he could be doing that and cursing people."

"He was," Karkat says. "He really fucking was. He was stupidly overpowered at six. I don't even want to know how much of his stupid psionics he'd have had at adulthood."

It was awful to think of how many of his friends would never be adults, would never have their eyes fill in, would never start wearing their sign largescale, would never spend perigees agonizing over the perfect title and then have their friends give them a stupid one instead.

"He did be being six when he did be doing that?" Pruna sounded impressed. He would be a good person to know, if his brain hadn't melted.

"You do be having cool friends."

"Yeah," Karkat says. "I think it's like equivalent to thirteen or something in human years. And-- I guess maybe they were. Some of them were giant pains in the ass all or most of the time... but they were mine." He looks over at her. "What about you, Doobie? You have any friends before they kidnapped your ass?"
knifewithnoname: (pondering)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2014-04-03 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh." Okay not as young as she had thought, thirteen was older than she was. She wrinkled her nose at his words, she was just learning about friends but she thought she understood that. Sometimes she got frustrated with Sandy and her leaky eyedness but she never got properly mad.

"I did be having a sister. I do be guessing she did be being my friend."
sleeplessinalternia: (22 So you think I'm alone)

[personal profile] sleeplessinalternia 2014-04-07 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, right," Karkat says. "That's the human thing where you get made from genetic material from the same people, right? Trolls don't have that. I mean, they've got the word, but it doesn't mean the same thing. It's more like someone you're in cahoots with."
knifewithnoname: (thinking)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2014-04-09 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I do be guessing so?" She shrugged, "I guess it do be meaning you did be growing in the same person." She wrinkled her nose, wondering how trolls got made.

"But I did be being in cahoots with her as well. So it did be being both."

Karkat makes a face. "That's such a stupid reproductive strategy," he says. "I'm surprised more human females don't die from it."

"It do be being stupid. I do be thinking a lot of humans do be dying from it." She sighed and then curiosity got the best of her. "How do trolls be being born?"
