Who| Everyone, pretty much. Particularly Secret Santa people and those Creuntus is fucking with.
What| Holiday times!
Where| The Tribute Training center
When| The whole week, but Creuntus' gifts arrive today.
Warnings/Notes| none atm. Please add any in thread headers. Also, for secret santa, if you are the giver start a thread with your giftee's name (unless you two have worked something else out between you). You can use the District threads below, or choose a different setting of your own.

Every floor public space is dripping with holiday decorations.

The decorations are themed, ridiculously so. Every surface is covered, and a table sits proudly full of holiday treats and spirits, kept stocked constantly by the avoxes. Cheerful music plays softly throughout the whole building, though luckily for everyone the Capitol doesn't really know what Christmas carols are.

Those with secret santa's have a cheery, passive-aggressive note reminding them not to disappoint anyone and ruin their holiday.

Those that have expressed a want for some object from home will find a box on their bed sometime during the day, with a merry holiday greeting from Cruentus. Inside they will find the object of their desire, or something similar, crafted from their words.

In blown glass. Pretty, decorative, utterly useless.

Bert's guns, Punchy's goggles, Sigma's music box, Maximus' leg, Mindy's knife, Terezi's dragon cane...on and on, as many gifts as Creuntus could find out. Those that were with them when they were pulled are more perfect replicas, those that they have just described obviously have an artistic touch to them.

"Americans are almost always unusual. I mean...we like to say Japan is weird because of some of the crazy stuff you guys do that we see on the internet? But there's no stranger place then the good ole U.S of A."

There is a silence.

"I'm not surprised."

That tickled Harley's funny bone and she giggled delightedly.

"Anyone ever tell you that you're a great straight man?" She commented and then added "What's one of the weirdest things you've seen living in Japan?"

At this, there is a hard look from Homura, who considered, before she replied.

"There is very little that I've seen, that I can consider strange to my existence anymore." At this, she turned away. "Perhaps I'm just not that interesting. Or not much shocks me anymore. So, I have to say that nothing is weird to me."

Harley looked blank for a moment then grinned.

"Impressive! You're like a Super High School Level of Straight man then. You could deliver jokes so dry they'd dehydrate the crowd!" She declared gleefully.

"I think that's probably why I like you so much. You're different!" She reasoned. "There's no one else in the Capitol like you and that makes you wonderful."

[personal profile] iflipmyhair 2014-01-31 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Different, maybe. She heard it all the time. But wonderful?

"I'm not worthy of those kind of compliments...Ms. Quinzell."

"And why the heck not?" Harley pouted her lip out in a stern face and then broke into a smile.

"They're my compliments to give, and I calls things how I see them. I may be crazy but I'm not blind. So maybe you can't see what makes you wonderful but I do."

The silence coming from Homura was so tense, so tight, at those words, that it could simply snap with a single tug. Even when she responded, quickly, curtly, there was a tenseness about them. As if Homura was quite close to simply breaking down then and there, and taking out all of her impotent, useless, stupid rage at Harley, for reasons unknown and imperceptible to the other woman.

It was only by Homura's indomitable will but was it so if just those words could hurt? that she held back, and simply gave an abrupt bow.

"Thank you, for your gifts. Please excuse me, but I need to go change."

With that, she abruptly turned and went towards the bathroom door at near light-speed, grabbing something Madoka, as well as something cloth-like - who knew what it was, she didn't care at this point - on her way, just before slamming the door, hard.

Harley wilted, feeling a sharp stabbing in her chest. She hated rejection. Hated it worse then Monday mornings, the DMV and diet soda all combined.

Even her ponytails seemed to drop as she hung her head and shuffled quietly for the door. What had she done wrong?

...

This did not however excuse Homura from Christmas dinner. Harley would be hunting her down with a fresh cooked platter of fried chicken and all the other things she had requested. If she refused to open the door then Harley would leave the food for her and go sulk.

Much like she was going to go do now.
