Every floor public space is dripping with holiday decorations.

The decorations are themed, ridiculously so. Every surface is covered, and a table sits proudly full of holiday treats and spirits, kept stocked constantly by the avoxes. Cheerful music plays softly throughout the whole building, though luckily for everyone the Capitol doesn't really know what Christmas carols are.

Those with secret santa's have a cheery, passive-aggressive note reminding them not to disappoint anyone and ruin their holiday.

Those that have expressed a want for some object from home will find a box on their bed sometime during the day, with a merry holiday greeting from Cruentus. Inside they will find the object of their desire, or something similar, crafted from their words.

In blown glass. Pretty, decorative, utterly useless.

Bert's guns, Punchy's goggles, Sigma's music box, Maximus' leg, Mindy's knife, Terezi's dragon cane...on and on, as many gifts as Creuntus could find out. Those that were with them when they were pulled are more perfect replicas, those that they have just described obviously have an artistic touch to them.

"Oh, don't use the word 'freak'. Unless it's 'superfreak'." She pats his elbow. "I bet you'd have had a huge market on my world."

She wasn't the first person to discourage that word. He'd just use it in private then.

"A huge market?" That took him a moment to wrap his head around "You mean like how people here like to watch me on TV?" Because those people only liked to watch him when he was breaking things. He didn't like that.

"Sort of like that, but better. It's less about you killing where I'm from and more..." Well, it is about killing, but still. "More what you stand for. You could have been an actual star where I'm from."

She holds a hand out. "Being different doesn't have to be a bad thing, you know. It took me a long time to learn that, but."

"What I stand for?" That was something Orc had never considered before.

The rest of her words sounded nice...but impossible.

"It's a bad thing where I come from." He mumbled "And here it just makes you stand out even more." Which he did not particularly like.

"Everyone stares at me everywhere I go. They know what I've done."

"It started out as a bad thing where I came from." She's very confident in this speech, although it sounds slightly rehearsed - she's said similar sentiments a hundred times before. "We changed it. We started out as freaks and decided to be heroes."

She taps her forehead. "It's a matter of changing the public perspective."

He didn't even know what perspective was let alone how to change it.

"How?" He asked simply not wanting to betray how completely uneducated he was to this almost unnaturally hot girl.

"People have a short memory. Give them something better to remember." She grins. "Eventually you can believe it yourself, too."

It was so tempting. He could just throw away all the pain of the past couldn't he? Reach for something new and hopeful...

He gave a gentle nod "Merry Christmas Ms. Venus." She'd given him something to think about...other then her wearing those skimpy underpants.

"Merry Christmas, Orc. Thank you for the present." She grins, holds the gift to her chest, and walks off.
