Who: Harley Quinn and you!
What: It's the most wonderful time of the year.
Where: In the city, starting at the Christmas Tree
When: Week 8
Harley was set up comfortably at a little cafe outside the Christmas Tree, as she had been each day since she'd come back from the arena.
The normally high energy girl was looking uncharacteristically peaceful mood as she gazed at the gently twinkling lights on it's proud branches. They seemed to reflect in her eyes making the sky blue balls sparkle like the pools of a tropical ocean. All in all it was the most calm and relaxed she had looked since the Arena.
Her clothes were just as festive as her heart as her sweater, scarf and ear muffs looked like she'd fallen into a box of tinsel. Her sweater was a blindingly shiny, glittery green, scarf gold like the moon and gloves red and shimmery. The latest in self heating winter wear kept her toasty and warm as she sat on the patio watching people mill about and enjoying the sheer size and importance of the tree.
Christmas trees were symbolic of a great many things, but to Harley specifically it meant memories, and hope that Ivy, Joker, Selina and all her friends back in Arkham were having the kind of Christmas they loved. Ivy always professed to hate the holiday but Harley knew the truth. Winter was peaceful and quiet. There was less destruction of her beautiful plants if you didn't count Christmas Trees...and more people were moving to fake trees.
Her mother was probably setting up all the Hanukkah decorations with Harley's niece and nephew while her lazy brother sat on his duff playing video games. Her dad would still be locked up for scamming old ladies. And no one would be surprised when she didn't show up except for the children. Aunt Harley never missed a Christmas.
As that thought crossed her mind Harley's peaceful smile faded and she glanced down at the mug of cocoa in her hand.
"I'll make it up to em next year. I'll pay for that private school like I tried to last year."
That was of course presuming she ever got home. But Christmas was about hope wasn't it?

Not that she didn't reward herself properly afterward: the cafe was one of the more comfortable places for her after her training, and right now she was back, ordering a hot chocolate for herself when she spotted the woman with all the garb on her. she shook her head in amazement, wondering where they got this glitzy crap when she noticed that it actually looked...from earth, her Earth. In fact, didn't the woman, now she saw was a girl, look familiar too?
"The hell?" She said aloud. "She looks lie Harley Quinn!"
no subject
"Huh? Oh hey it's the new girl." She grinned brightly waving at Mindy like they were old friends.

REMEMBER THE NINJA TURTLE.
Right. There was no way pretty much went right out the window in this fucking place didn't it?
"So it really is you. The hell are you doing in a cafe?"
Never mind the greeting. Harley was crazy like that anyway, right?
no subject
"Hot Cocoa." Then jerked her thumb over her shoulder at the tree. "Good looking pine tree. Who wouldn't want to be here?"
no subject
Made perfect sense.
"So I guess you're not even a little pissed off about being in a place against your will where you're forced in an arena where you'll likely die a slow and grisly death?"
no subject
So Harley leaned forward studying Mindy with a curious grin, "So where ya from short stack?"
no subject
Then again, that really depended on the angel she played, which she still wasn't sure about yet.
"Earth," she said, "New York, respectively."
no subject
"Still you gotta be some kinda fangirl to recognize me without my mask, either that or you've been studying those tapes from the last arena. But you sounded pretty surprised."
Harley was surprisingly perceptive despite her goofy reputation it seemed.
no subject
"I have my ways," she said, "although I have been studying some tapes. Gotta sharpen my skills, you know the deal."
no subject
"Sheesh Louise, you took to this stuff fast. I saw a bit of you in the arena too, you took that beartrap like a champ."
Meanwhile Harley had been safe and sound in the compound watching the rest of the tributes on TV.

As in not die and maybe get a chance to see more of this fucked up world.
"Though navigating and surviving with my wits is old hat, or I'd be dead a lot sooner."
no subject
"No kidding? Is New York really that rough? I mean come on, it's tough but it's no Gotham."
no subject
"New York has always been that rough. They just let the criminals do what they want behind the scenes. You could say I had a hand disrupting that, is all."

She tied an invisible noose around her neck and mimed being strangled to indicate what she assumed was the fate of the former members of her world.
no subject
"Man, it would have been cool to meet Wonderwoman. I mean, before they earned how I work, of course."
no subject
"Oh I dunno, she didn't seem to mind working with me. And I'm not exactly high on the most desirable list." In fact Wonder Woman had been encouraging her! The memory alone was enough to make her laugh.
"Riddler might still be around here...other then that it's a bunch of mutants and heroes and stuff from other worlds."
no subject
"No, I saw some of 'em. A rock guy, sorta like The Thing, and a ninja turtle. Anything else I shoudl expect to see?"
no subject
"Oh yeah! Donnie? He's in my district, nine. He's pretty hard core but not sure about himself. As for the others? Too many to list really."
no subject
Hold up. "Wait, district 9? That's MY district! We're in the same one!"

She wondered if the lights weren't rigged to explode. But then, maybe they'd be scared of the citizens getting hurt. Or something. Everything in this place seemed to be booby trapped.
Much like Harley. "Hey."
no subject
"Hey there ginger. How's your holly jolly mood?"
no subject
Suicidal sheep? She preferred morbidly curious bat. "I think the dung beetles have me beat," she quipped back, trying for casual. Just another girl by the Christmas tree. With her... What? This wasn't the Harley of her world. But she still felt maybe a bit like Barbara's neglected responsibility.

"Come on kiddo, you're going about things all wrong. You've been moping around for months and where has that gotten you?" She pointed out.

"You may be alive kiddo, but you're definitely not living. What's the point of having a beating heart if you never use it?"
